    Title: The Strong Witch Society
Subtitle: The Diary of Mary Bliss Parsons, Book 1
    Author: D.H. Parsons
    Narrator: Jodi Bricker
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 4 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-12-13
Publisher: All Things That Matter Press, Inc.
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 3 votes
Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Religious Thought
    Publisher's Summary:
In 1675, Mary Bliss Parsons, the author's great grandmother nine times removed, was tried for witchcraft during the Salem witch trials. She was acquitted only because her husband, Joseph, was able to purchase her freedom. Such is the known history of Mary Bliss Parsons. What is not so well known is that Mary was a member of a small but powerful group of witches, The Strong Witch Society. After her death in 1712, it became Mary's purpose to somehow awaken in the mind and spirit of one of her future descendants in order to reinstitute The Strong Witch Society. The author is that grandchild.
What unfolds on the pages of this book is a rollercoaster of supernatural events and "lessons" designed with the express purpose of calling together the remaining strong witches in order to divert an impending world disaster. This book is about far more than just witches. It introduces and covers many other subjects including alien contact, inter-dimensional travel, the natural disasters our world is facing today, political crises, and etc. It offers simple solutions on how to deal with all of those problems before it is too late. It gives information on how you the reader can actually help to solve the problems without much effort at all. But time is running short. And always remember that this book is true, not fiction, not conjecture, not theory.

    A Curious Awakening
Would you consider the audio edition of The Strong Witch Society to be better than the print version?
The author has written many scenes of a fantastical nature. Being able to listen to the narrative without the distraction of the printed page allows these sequences to develop fully in the mind's eye. By contrast, there are also many "teaching moments" that are best absorbed from the printed page. In my opinion, the audio version compliments the printed version.
What other book might you compare The Strong Witch Society to and why?
While the book starts with verifiable history the story of Mary Bliss Parsons and moves to contemporary reality a moment in the life of the author the story progresses more along the lines of The Chronicles of Narnia as Mary introduces herself to Din. He is presented with a series of events and encounters that provide lessons and insight into the true nature of the universe, the fate of humanity, and what can be done to change that fate. In that sense, The Strong Witch Society is somewhat like The Celestine Prophecy except that the lessons and directions are more tangible and practical.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the scene where the garden came alive. I will leave it to the reader to find out exactly what that means, but it was delightful.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I don't think I would call my reaction extreme, but I was left with a renewed appreciation for the depth and complexity of this planet we live on, and an increased resolution to pay attention to what lies beyond our vision.
    Any additional comments?
I am not sure what the previous reviewer, Rob, found to be so viscerally objectionable in this book. The existence of Mary Bliss Parsons is a fact, as is the author's connection to her.

    Narrator: Craig Jessen
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 43 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-25-13
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 4 votes
Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Religious Thought
    Publisher's Summary:
Religion can be source of comfort when facing struggles both personal and universal. But clinging to religion as a codependent fix for all problems can cultivate excessive fear, shame, guilt, and low self-esteem. Acclaimed author Reverend Leo Booth, a Unity minister and former Episcopal priest, warns that a belief in tenets like "Everything happens for a reason" and "This is in God's hands" can be the first step in developing religious codependency. Rev. Leo turns traditional thinking and spirituality upside down by suggesting that many toxic messages emanate from core religious beliefs. In The Happy Heretic, he challenges beliefs like original sin; a dogmatic, one-way path to God; the shaming of human sexuality, religious codependency; and the exclusiveness of Jesus' perfection within the human race. The arguments he presents are derived from Pelagius, a fourth-century monk who challenged the teachings of St. Augustine; and Rumi, a revolutionary 13-century poet and philosopher. In his confessions, St. Augustine's states, "It is only by Your grace and mercy that You have melted away the ice of my evil."
Pelagius felt this idea lacked balance. It affirmed only God's role and didn't speak to our involvement. Likewise, Rumi believed that God's spirit exists within all human beings and enables divine creativity in life. The theology, philosophy, and recited prayers we learned through organized religion often emphasize the idea that we are sinful people who are dependent upon a powerful and punishing God. The Happy Heretic provides an escape from this shadow by encouraging listeners to enter into a partnership with God, affirming personal dignity alongside responsibility; in other words, "free will" and the choices we make determine much of the success or failure we encounter. Real-life examples of the core issues surrounding religious codependency, along with Seven Spiritual Insights, help listeners rethink their religious beliefs - including the prayers they grew up with - to form a deeper, more spiritual understanding of who they are and their connection with God.
In this thought-provoking listen, Reverend Leo calls himself a heretic, a person who is willing to think differently, and he invites listeners to discover an alternative explanation for how we experience God's grace. The Happy Heretic explains this divine relationship in ways that make us feel alive, empowered, and still true to who we are. The Happy Heretic confronts toxic religious messages and brings a spiritual awareness that affirms human possibility and responsibility.

    Spirituality
This is a great book. It takes the guilt out of religion. Many folks going through recovery all ready have enough guilt, they do not need any more added by the very same power that is supposed to be there for them, no matter what! I love Father Leo.
    EASY TO READ
I found it interesting and it reaffirmed things that I already believed in. The author delineates clearly how the christian belief system fosters codependency and unhealthy feelings, thoughts and behaviors. Good for someone struggling with their christian beliefs, good for spiritual healing.

He reveals the step that switches us from the left brain to the right brain.
Also included is an in-depth discussion on guilt and the karmic purpose of human life, the evolution of human consciousness. Dr. Hawkins shows us how spiritual intention totally changes everything. And ultimately when the blinders are removed, the essence of all that exists shines forth.

There is a lie in the first chapter of this book
    Any additional comments?
There is a lie in the first chapter. Helen Schucman was not an athiest!
    According to Wikipedia,
"Schucman was born Helen Dora Cohn in 1909 to Sigmund Cohn, a prosperous metallurgical chemist, and Rose Black, who had married on October 18, 1896, in Manhattan. Schucman had a brother, Adolph Cohn, who was 14 years her senior. Though her parents were both half-Jewish, they were non-observant. Schucman's mother Rose dabbled in Theosophy and various expressions of Christianity such as Christian Science and the Unity School of Christianity. However, it was the family housekeeper, Idabel, a Baptist, who had the deepest religious influence on Schucman while she was growing up. In 1921, when she was 12, Schucman visited Lourdes, France, where she had a spiritual experience, and in 1922 she was baptized as a Baptist.
Helen Cohn Schucman (July 14, 1909 February 9, 1981) was an American clinical and research psychologist from New York City. She was a professor of medical psychology at Columbia University in New York from 1958 until her retirement in 1976. Schucman is best known for having "scribed" with the help of colleague William Thetford the book A Course in Miracles (1st edition, 1975), the contents of which she claimed to have been given to her by an inner voice she identified as Jesus. However, as per her request, her role as its "writer" was not revealed to the general public until after her death."
    My Godsend.
Always there for me when ever I need it.
Thank you Richard Thomas for reading this book, you are Divine.
