Great reading

This was another great story from Colleen Coble. I haven't read one of her books that didn't tear at the heart and remind that Jesus Christ is a major part of everyone's life.

Nice, quick Christmas novellas

Silent Night (Part of Rock Harbor (Michigan) Series):

Bree is recovering emotionally from a miscarriage but is looking forward to sharing Christmas with her new husband, Kade. The guests will include Kades twenty-one year old sister, Lauri, who arrives early before Bree has finished painting her room. Although Bree is working overtime trying to get ready, she steps out quickly to take her search and rescue dog, Samson, (Cry in the Night, Rock Harbor Book 5) on the hunt for a missing parachutist. Bree and another rescue friend dont find the young man but instead find Lauri curled up in the snow. Lauris mysterious connection with the parachutist and concern about a missing back pack raises suspicions with Bree.

I always like search dog teams although that was a small element of this story. I liked the characters of Bree and Kade and might enjoy their full story. This novella had a little mystery, a touch of emotional issues regarding infertility and adoption, and of course, some Christmas spirit.

Holy Night (Part of the Aloha Reef (Hawaii) series):

Leia is committed to caring for her sweet, twenty-one-year-old sister, Eva, who has Down syndrome. Leia has issues of abandonment stemming from her childhood and had previously left her love, Bane, behind (Dangerous Depths, Aloha Reef Book 3). It has taken a long courtship for Bane to get Leia to the altar and even Eva is excited to help prepare for the Christmas wedding.

Bane is former military and his brother is a police officer. They have enemies from the past who will do anything to take away Banes future happiness. A kidnapping has Leia pulling away again and Bane isnt sure their relationship can survive without trusting each other.

Again, I liked these characters and the quick plot development. There was good danger and tie-in to the issues that impacted Leia and Banes past relationships. They clearly have to work things out before they tie the knot. This novella has danger, emotional issues, and a very sweet, if brief, attitude from Eva about Christmas.

Each story is nice, if not stellar. There is good evidence of Colleens lovely, straightforward and easy writing style. Readers familiar with the series might enjoy the quick novella offerings. And, the romances with real life issues might pull new romance readers into searching out more about the series.

Audio Notes: I think I was not overly impressed with the narration and maybe that is why the reading experience was just nice. I felt this was more of a reading than an effort to enhance the characters with different voices. It didnt pull me in and this is a book that might be better in print or digital.

Nice little book.

Good Story, Narration needs help

Who Needs a Hero? by Jennifer L. Hart was a good story, I enjoyed the commentary the heroine had with herself and other people. Maggie's down on her luck and can't catch a break.

Neil is a Navy Seal so yeah he is an alpha male, but he has a sweet side and loves his two little boys. He is having issues in his life as well. I felt like we really didn't get to know him really until the end of the book.

Since this was an audiobook, I was listening to this and it kept my attention. The only problem I had and my reason for the 3 stars was the transition between the characters on the audio. Sometimes, I couldn't tell who was talking. Maggie's and Neil's voice should not be so similar in the passion of love. It was really just these two characters that sounded too similar for me.

I still enjoyed the book very much and it made me smile!

Disappionting

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not as good as "It's In His Kiss" and I almost turned it off due to the narration.

Engaging story, like the new narrator

I haven't actually finished the book yet, but wanted to put in a quick positive word for the narrator. The Lucky Harbor series has gone through loads of different narrators unlike other series which have the same one. Not sure if that's because of availability or if the author and/or publisher haven't felt like they found the right "voice" yet. I give Angele two thumbs up! She has done a nice job with the different voices, and does a great male voice as well. Looking forward to finishing! Thanks Jill for another great Lucky Harbor story.

Kat Marlowe did it again. She pulls you into the story so you forget we're you are. Bries and Lock , Lexie and Anna are people you can relate to . Love it

Disappointed...

What disappointed you about Healed?

The story was very rushed. Also these characters are suppose to be out of high school and in their mid 20's...this book made them sound like young teenagers at times. I loved the first book but was let down by this one.

Probably not...she was very monotone. Se would be much better if there was a guy reading along with her for the male parts.

I enjoyed the romance between Holly and Zack a great deal, although at times I wanted to bash their heads together for their insecurities. Loved visiting with the other characters from this delightful series. I absolutely loved the ending. It closed up this series perfectly, even giving me Sprinkles on Top!

Best of the series!

I enjoyed all three books in this series, but I have to admit that this one "sprinkles on top"is my favorite! The story was really touching and thought out :) LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

Good story. Performance was good. Easy to listen while multitasking. Story was fun. A few "steamy" spots...but mostly lighthearted and fun.

Book 4 continues the amazing story!

Finding the Right Girl is the fourth book in Violet Duke's Can't Resist Series. It is a book that should definitely be read in the order of its release with this series, in order to grasp the full depth of the characters introduced in this series.

This book focuses on Brian Sullivan and his relationship with his daughter as well as Tessa Daniels. Brian has loved only two women in his life. The first was his high school sweetheart who later became his wife. He lost his wife to Huntington's early in life. The second was his best friend, who had been there for him through everything.Â

Nothing could have prepared Brian for Tessa Daniels. She is a strong, independent woman who makes the most out of each moment in life because of what she has had to endure from her past. Brian has never been with someone who didn't need him. Will she let down her walls to let him inside her heart?

Violet Duke has written another phenomenal book with this story. She has an uncanny ability to make you laugh one minute, then be so completely connected with the characters that you are ripped apart in the next. This was a beautifully written story and I look forward to reading more from this series.

It's about time Brian got his happy ending!

What I love about Brian and Tessa's story is that it shows the real life struggles of romantic relationships and blending families and setting boundaries. Brian is so used to being the sole parental figure in his daughter's life that he doesn't want to give Tessa an inch when it comes to bonding with Skylar or talking to her about JHD.

It was ok

I enjoyed the story and the narrator was yummy brought the story to life but it just felt a little choppy. Like half the story was missing. Over all it was good.

Cute and Short

This is an interesting quick listen -- a good way to start a new series. I like the story well enough but it just felt like something was missing, too much was left out. Maybe the rest of the series will shed some light but I'm undecided if I'm going to listen to the rest of the series. I was intrigued by Shep and Shea and hope they will turn up in other books in the series. Gregory Salinas did an okay job as the narrator but the audio seemed a bit choppy.

It was worth the reduced price I paid. I will probably listen to other books written by Carrie Ann Ryan and/or narrated by Gregory Salinas.

Steamy romance makes for some great listening

Carrie Ann Ryan writes steamy romance. Ive read a number of her books and enjoyed each and every one. I won an audio copy of Ink Inspired the prequel to the Montgomery Ink series and listened to it while on a plane headed to vacation. It is one thing to read a smoking hot love scene it is another to have a smooth sexy male voice describing every detail in your ears. I havent blushed so hard in a long time. I dont know what my fellow travelers thought but I had a great time listening to Shep and Shea get together.

Yummy Smexy Series

Oh yeah!!! Give me a big burly tattoo artist any day of the week!!! Yummy!!! Sigh! I am all about this smexy book!

Really quick read with a great couple. Shea is more reserved on the outside but ready to break free, she needs delicious bad boy Shep to help her out!! They have a great dynamic and is is a really fun read.

The time jumps are a bit abrupt, I know it was a novella gotta keep it short. Still I would have loved spending more time with them.

This book certainly delivers on the smexy!!! Oh Hells yeah!! For a short read it packs one heck of a steamy whallop!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by the always yummy Gregory Salinas. He has a smexy voice that infuses the hawt scenes with even more heat! Great tone and pace throughout the read.

Strong & SEXY BW/WM Romance w/ HEA!

What made the experience of listening to Kiss of Ice the most enjoyable?

I loved how the two main characters, Annata and Christophe, were both two strong willed characters! Most authors don't and make them the opposite to keep things interesting, but Lavender and Lynn definitely made this dynamic work! At the beginning I didn't think that they would ever stop butting heads and that no matter what poor Christy did, he couldn't win for losing, his fault or not! I won't even go into the sexual tension between the two of them, I will say I could feel it from the first moment to the last! :) I really admired Annata for fighting for all she worked so hard to achieve, no matter how much she loved Christy. Thank God Christy was smart enough to know Annata well enough not to push her too hard, even when his father makes him look like the bad guy. I was very impressed that the first book in this series, which could also be read as a stand alone novel, had a happily ever after ending and kept me interested and guessing until the very end. A lot of authors these days cannot achieve one or both of those. Lynn did a wonderful job portraying Lavender's characters and the story line. I felt for both Annata and Christophe and was routing for them the entire time! I can't wait for the next book to come out! I'm sure Toni's story will be just as exciting, seeing some of the drama she caused in this book!

What other book might you compare Kiss of Ice to and why?

This series could be categorized under BW/WM Contemporary Romance, but also Mature or Adult Romance. I was pleasantly surprised that the BW/WM is not over the top, even considering Annata's powerful character. So, even if you don't usually care for the genre, you will enjoy this book (and series) if you like any steamy romance novels!

Have you listened to any of Lynn Barringtons other performances before? How does this one compare?

Lynn's performance in "Kiss of Ice" is as amazing, as in all of her other audiobooks! If anything I would say that she portrayed a strong-willed African American woman flawlessly.
