    Much better than 1st Book
I read the 1st book, and I liked it but thought it dragged in some places, although I liked the two main characters. I took a chance reading the second book, and I really enjoyed the vampire and werewolve connection between Michael and Keely, I like seeing more into the werewolve world, and I hope this will be stronger in the next series.
Vastly superior to book 1 - recommended
The synopsis says: 'Los Angeles is no longer the City of Angels; dark things haunt its streets - dark, restless things. Bodies have been found, and the tentative peace between humans, vampires and werewolves teeters on the brink of collapse. Keeli Maddox needs to know why. If she and her kin are to survive, she must trust a man as different from her as night from day, as tooth from claw. He's a slayer, a betrayer, an enemy. But nobility lurks in dark places, and Keeli herself is no stranger to shadow. As sure as the moon will rise, Michael was meant for her. Life is about to change. Only three things will remain: the color of blood, the hot joy of skin on skin, and the danger in...A TASTE OF CRIMSON.'
This is good - it holds the attention, the story line is good and the characters believable (well, as far as vampires and werewolves can be believable!). The plot covers prejudice and racial intolerance - the Fangs think the Dogs are beneath their contempt, the werewolves loathe all vampires on principle - so our heroine and hero have to fight to overcome both their own, and their race's hatred. I didn't see the end coming, in that I didn't see who the baddie ultimately turned out to be.
Can be read without reading Book 1, which I'd give a miss - it's not worth the listen; this is.

Even Better then the first 2 books!!
This series just keeps getting better and better with each new book, which is a real surprise since most series drop off. This is the story of Lucas and Dannai, 2 very different people but yet they compliment each other so well. In this book there is a little bit of everything, werewolves, witches, warlocks, and vampires. Lucas is a werewolf who hates magic and Dannai is a witch, healer, and a dormant. The story line continues from the first 2 books and it is interesting to see the over all story unfold. Old enemies come back and there are new ones as well along with old friends still making appearances.
The combination of Ms. Walden's writing ability and Gildart Jackson's narration makes this a very enjoyable series to follow.
Awesome continuation to the BBW series
This time it's Dannai and Lucas's turn to get caught in the trials and tribulations of the Mating Bond pull - trouble is she's a witch and a healer and he hates magic after his brother was lost to him by magic.
If you've listened to the others in the series then you know the type of story you're in for - a paranormal romance that has both past and present irresistible characters all intertwining in a most enjoyable plot that hooks you in and throws in twists and turns to keep you hooked. But if you haven't listened to them before, and you like the genre, then you're going to love this series.
Worth my credit? Handsome sexy Alpha Werewolves and handsome Wizards - oh yeah!!
Best book in the whole series!
My favorite book out of the whole long series. Wolves and Witches! Amazing narrator and the other l
Now we have a cliff hanger, but wait for@@
What did you love best about The Spell?
That the trio of woman didn't go to the big roundup in the sky.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Spell?
When Danni finally had to admit she was ready to move forward
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reaction, but it did make me laugh in parts.
Another Great Installment of the BBW Series!
If you could sum up The Spell in three words, what would they be?
    Action-Packed, Entertaining, & Thrilling
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Spell?
The death of the Overseer was sad, but memorable. Also, Charlie being changed back to a dormant.
Have you listened to any of Gildart Jacksons other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes! As with the first two books, he does a great job. His female voices are starting to get better.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    I sure did!

"Losing her mind wasn't an experience she enjoyed."
After a steamy night of passion with a dark stranger, Arbor's life takes on a surreal edge. Disturbing dreams, lapses in memory, and entire buildings going missing are only a few of her problems. Her search for answers leads her to Detective Trey Murphy, the man in charge of investigating satanic and ritualistic crime for the New Orleans area.
Where do you turn when your mind is the enemy?
Meeting Trey only adds to Arbor's confusion. By day he keeps her captivated and gains her trust in a way no one else ever has. At night Arbor's every fantasy is brought to life by two sexy men who steal away her inhibitions. Torn between what her heart knows is real and what her eyes show her, Arbor must find the truth before she loses herself completely.
But then again, sometimes reality is more twisted than any dream, and love is the cruelest form of insanity.
    Author Note
Warning: This isn't your typical love story. It's dark, with scenes some may find disturbing. Sometimes love is senseless, and the heart is so very stupid.
    Members Reviews:
This book will leave you "Sated"!
Would you consider the audio edition of Sated to be better than the print version?
Hollie Jackson does an amazing job bringing these characters to life. Both the print and the audio version are equally amazing.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Trey has to be my favorite. He's on the outside looking in and ends up with the hardest of jobs. Without going into spoiler mode, he does what he has to to make sure Arbor is safe and happy and where she needs to be.
Which character as performed by Hollie Jackson was your favorite?
Arbor, for sure! For me Hollie's "voice" as Arbor was the closest a narrator has come to matching what I "heard" when I read the print version in a very long time.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes! And I did... twice!
    Any additional comments?
This is not your "typical" romance. It's dark, but it has a heart and it's true to the characters and the world that it's set in.

    Title: Sucking in San Francisco
Subtitle: Lily Goodwill's Story, Volume 1
    Author: Jessica McBrayer
    Narrator: Valerie Gilbert
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 9 hrs and 38 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-26-13
    Publisher: Mess of Geckos
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 110 votes
    Genres: Romance, Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
Working at a Suicide Prevention Center in San Francisco, Lily Goodwill thinks she's heard it all - then she gets a call from a man about to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. Something about the caller, maybe his yummy British accent or Lily's ability to understand his crushing ennui, makes her break all the rules and rush to meet him. After all, she is a vampire and if she can't talk him down she can glamour him. But things don't go according to plan.
Her caller glows with blue fire and turns out to be a vampire-hating Djinn. Suddenly, for the first time in centuries he's found something intriguing. Is Lily really a vampire with a conscience and an obsessive-compulsive disorder, involving Handi-wipes and Lysol, or is she just another bloodsucker?
Add in another vampire, with a history of female lovers stretching over three centuries, who swears he's reformed and declares his undying love for Lily. Stir in a mean pair of witches and a vicious warlock, who are staking vampires around the city and you have a recipe for riotous adventure of supernatural proportions.
Lily Goodwill is a quick thinking, smart-talking vampire who's still figuring out how she feels about dining al fresco in the City by the Bay.
    Members Reviews:
    Great story, but....
What did you love best about Sucking in San Francisco?
I loved the story. It was interesting and a quick listen.
What did you like best about this story?
    I liked her "family".
Would you be willing to try another one of Valerie Gilberts performances?
Maybe if she didn't whisper. It is so hard to hear on an audio book. I kept having to crank up the speakers only to be blown out of the car when she went back to normal.
    Any additional comments?
Great story, but either have Lilly stop talking to herself, or please ask the reader to speak up. Please put out part 2 soon!
A vampire, a witch, and a Jinn walked into.....
I had the book on audio first, but it is also ebook and print. Light-hearted love triangle with the witch between a Jinn and a vampire is half the plot, the rest is a hunt for a serial killer targeting vampires. Good plot and fun story with excellent character development. Not a Sherlock type of mystery, but rewarding none the less. If you take it for good fun, you could love it!
The only problem with the audio performance is that she used her "quiet voice". That made it difficult when I was in noisy settings, but the character delineation and expression of emotions was excellent.
    Sucking in SanFran
What made the experience of listening to Sucking in San Francisco the most enjoyable?
I had the fun listening Sucking in San Francisco several times and it is always fun to listen to I don't usually read paranormal, but Lily is so funny and endearing, and Sebastian and Aidan are so appealing,
    Lovely Story/Incredible Author
This first book in the "Sucking Series" is a wonderful story about the love-life and life-life of Lily Goodwill, a gentle vampire, living in present day San Francisco. Filled with compelling San Francisco characters and an intriguing plot, this is far more than a feel good story this is a lived good story. I highly recommend it.
Can I get a second helping?
What did you love best about Sucking in San Francisco?
I loved all of the main characters. I loved the vivid descriptions of the beauty of San Francisco. I loved the story line.

    Members Reviews:
    A disappointment
After enjoying the first two books in the Raintree series I was really
looking forward to this book. It would hopefully bring all of the
characters together for the final showdown. The story had lots of
potential but, it just didn't live up to it. While the narration was
good again, the hero and heroine just lacked chemistry. When they
finally do come together sexually it is a forceful, brutal, and
antagonist. I cringed at some of the wording used; it seemed like more
of a rape than intense passion. Additionally, Mercy's brothers are
hardly in this novel even though the reader is left hanging at the ends
of novels one and two. I must admit that I finished the book. I had to
find out what happened but, I am disappointed that this series'
potential just wasn't fully realized. If written by one of the two
previous authors, I think this could have been superbly delicious. Also,
the child Eve could be way too annoying at times and, was used too
heavily as a means to bring her parent's romance along. I'd rather see
this done through good development of the characters so that it really
works for the reader. Finally, the graphic violence of the final battle
was over the top at times for my taste; a trend a really don't like
    seeing in my chic novels.
    Loved it!
Loved the way this trilogy was wrapped up with twists in the story that I didn't expect.
    Best on of the trilogy
This one was the best of the 3 Raintree books. Story and voices were perfect.
    Raintree: Sanctuary
The book could have been a lot better if I hadn't taken offense at the author suggesting that a woman being raped would not only enjoy this, but love the man that had raped even if she had a child with him prior. I feel it was a slap in the face of all rape victims. I haven't heard or read many romance novels maybe it is the norm to insult the intelligence of their readers while making it harder for victims to prove their case even to other women who read books like this and have never experienced the brutality or humiliation of this act of violence as that is what it is, not love or lust, but hatred and assault. Maybe if one of the authors who wrote the other two in this series had done this one, this would have been a grand slam as well.
    boring ................drags..............1 star
Would you try another book from Beverly Barton and/or Gabrielle de Cuir and Stefan Rudnicki ?
Beverly Barton let us down~ what a bore~
What could Beverly Barton have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
better writing! this was a pathetic ending to the trilogy we adored in part one and two.
What didnt you like about Gabrielle de Cuir and Stefan Rudnicki s performance?
    yes
What character would you cut from Raintree?
    BETTER writing in part 3
    Any additional comments?
what a yawner~ Part 3 drags from the first boring word. Barton let us down in this lemon. SAD....first two have us glued and three ...BAD~ drags.....pathetic~

Ellie Matthews is the new police chief in Hope, Alaska. An experienced homicide detective, she's running from a past that haunts her. One bullet changed her entire life and set her on a career path that collides with native lore, shape-shifter legends, and wolves.
In Ice Wolf, a hunter stumbles upon a naked body. When Ellie and her deputy retrieve the frozen corpse, he's got a silver dagger in his chest but no ID. It's Ellie's first homicide case in Hope and she aims to solve it. But even stranger things happen and this murder investigation will be anything but routine. Ellie doesn't want to believe the forensic evidence, but there's something creepy about the John Doe victim. There's no way that she'd walk away from this case, but maybe she should run.
The prime suspect is Alex Johnson, a bounty hunter who knows a lot more about shifters than he's telling. But is he crying wolf? Things could get downright steamy with Ellie's number-one suspect, who may be her only ally in town. But can this beauty trust a beastly hunk who's under arrest?
It will take all of Ellie's homicide investigation experience to track down the killer before the killer finds her first.

    Ice Wolf
    Any additional comments?
I loved this story and the combine writing between H. P. Mallory and J.R. Rain gets a very good rating . It's a refreshing change of direction for the story telling about werewolves.
    MADE ME A FAN!
This is my 1st paranormal romance book and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the main Characters and their chemistry. First there is Maddie, a new police chief of a little town called Hope. Then there is Alex, a tall, dark haired and handsome bounty hunter. At first is seemed like it was going to be a love to hate relationship but it evolves into so much more. Would love for there to be a follow up book as it ended so quickly. Enjoyed Valerie' s narration, it was smooth and well done.
    Fun and captivating read
I really enjoyed this easy and enjoyable book filled with easy banter and a good story line. The characters were down to earth and easy to like and the dialogue was witty with just the right touch of sarcasm. The narrator was fantastic, making it more like listening to movie dialogue than a book. Very fun book!
    I expected a better story
I had high hopes, but the story didn't quite do it for me. Not sure what to think, it seems unrefined. Ellie is a weak woman in my books who is making so many wrong moves, just wanted to smack her at times. Her investigation is lacking and getting sidetracked easily by Alex who was so patient with her... arresting him... then going out to dinner?
Loved Ms. Gilbert's narration, she has an awesome voice, versatile to fit each character. The reason I chose this audiobook.
Good, but it just felt unfinished
The narrator was great! I laughed out loud a few times and I don't think I would have just by reading.
The book itself fell short with me. It just feels unfinished. This book has the potential to be a great series.

I like the story AND the narrator!
    Any additional comments?
I don't usually comment on the books I listen to, but I felt I had to add my voice with regards to the narrator. I think he did a great job, really making the difference between each character obvious, making following the story way easier, since there are so many different characters, especially book after/upon book. I'd suggest listening to the sample if you have doubts, it would be a shame not to give the series a chance simply because you fear the narration! I think he did an excellent job!
    good story bad narrator
I hated the narration was stilted. also the narrator used really odd accents so even people in the same family didn't sound like the were related. .
Please redo these with a new reader
What did you like best about Heart Fortune? What did you like least?
    A different reader
What did you like best about this story?
The story is so good that even with this awful reader it was enjoyable. I love the way each book in the series is different.
How could the performance have been better?
If the performer had not tried to give each different character a different poorly portrayed accent.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    Definitely
    Any additional comments?
It's a shame such a wonderful story has such a poor reader.

    Great Trilogy !!!
I don't usually like books that are ; to be continued..., most of them I find the story could have been told in one book. Books 2,3,4, and so on become repetitive and boring. I can't say that about this Trilogy. I really enjoyed all three . I listened to all the characters grow up and become wiser , letting go of resentments and beliefs as time went on. I was sorry when the story ended but satisfied too. I also LOVE Gabra Zackman she can read a phone book and make it sound exciting !
    Such a great series
The only thing better then a love story with magic suspense and intrigue is having two love stories running simultaneously. I love the way the story came together for Kell and Renello.
