    Publisher's Summary:
"The engine is the heart of an airplane, but the pilot is its soul." (Sir Walter Alexander Raleigh, author of The War in the Air)
We all marvel at the miracle of flight, but without the human pilot, all those pretty metal curves are nothing but inanimate objects lying dead and dormant on the tarmac. In his latest volume of true tales from the sky, Eric "Cap'n Aux" Auxier celebrates these intrepid pilots and their stories.
Once again, Cap'n Aux puts you in the driver's seat at 30,000 feet! More stories, more guest authors, more love, laughs, and tears, in an adventure spanning over three decades in the sky!
In the final volume of this series, Cap'n Aux features over 10 aviation personalities, who spin their own adrenaline-pumping yarns. Only difference is, these tall tales are true!
Eric Auxier is a captain for a major US airline, with over 22,000 hours of flying. He is the author of the Amazon Top 100 Breakthrough novel The Last Bush Pilots, as well as the Code Name: Dodger Young Adult "Spy/Fly" series. He is a columnist for Airways Magazine, and his blog Adventures of Cap'n Aux (capnaux.com) is read by thousands worldwide. There I Wuz! Volume IV is his ninth book; his eighth, Yakuza Connection, received Online Book Club's highest rating.

    A Must Read!
All Cap'n Aux books are awesome and each with a unique flavor. But this volume with the people, might be my favorite. What's better than reading the stories of real people of aviation. And who doesn't want to know the story behind the flight attendant who decides to end his career with a couple beers and a slide to freedom? So many stories and all equally great! I also have an article in this volume, with an extremely important issue of terrorism of another kind. This will be one of those books that you'll buy many of, and gift them to your friends!
Interesting topics hold you to the end
Cap'n Aux has done it again with stories that will uplift, thrill, educate and inform you. Some great tales covering a wide spectrum in aviation. A great read.
An honest collection of tales from inside of cockpits
I am not a pilot, but that is irrelevant for enjoying this book & series. Anyone with a love for aviation and/or the art of flying will find stories in these volumes to entertain and make you think. For the typical passenger, stories like these help to give us a peek behind the locked door that exists between us and the men/women who wear those 3 or 4 stripes on their uniform shoulders. By the way, the story about losing an engine during a takeoff from the high altitude Mexico City airport, surrounded by mountains, with a plane loaded full of passengers and fuel, is... amazing.
    Fun and Inspirational
I read this book before it was published as a proofreader and one of the featured articles. I so enjoyed reading all the other stories from the other authors and featured people. Every story was so fun and enjoyable to read. I kept flipping through the pages as I read every word. Cap'n Aux has put together a great selection of stories that totally kept my interest...it's always fun and inspirational to read others aviation interest, challenges and journey in this industry and profession.

Title: Ollie Ollie In Come Free: A Memoir of Swallowed Time
    Author: Anne Bernard Becker
    Narrator: Anne Bernard Becker
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 41 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 12-26-17
    Publisher: Author's Republic
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
In the 1950's and 60's families are expected to deal with death privately and silently. This is no different for the Bernards, a lively Catholic family that tries to rebuild after the loss of their three oldest children. Yet the deaths haunt the author's emotional development into adulthood with a subtle force she can only uncover in psychoanalysis while mothering her own young children. Ollie Ollie In Come Free is an immersion in the secrets of a young girl's inner life and unexpressed grief. Brimming with memories of Midwestern childhood during an era of social upheaval, it offers moving insights into Anne Bernard Becker's personal healing journey as well as universal themes of loss and growth.

    Courageous, Heartbreaking and Uniquely Significant
I inhaled this book in just a few days, stopping only to allow my emotional balance to come back. But I've taken over a week to properly write this review because I really want everyone, especially therapists, to read it.
I believe the immense power of this book lies in three things: the author's unflinching honesty, her egoless and detailed portrayal of her life events and her ability to recreate her childhood as it evolvedâso that the reader experiences the world of a six-year old and a twelve-year old radically differently, just as the growing author did. For example, I, just like little Anne, was confused by her grandfather's attention. Was it abuse or affection? Only later, as Anne grew older, did she (and I) come to understand his actions. This is a masterful literary feat, but, more important, it's an amazing gift to us readers because it allows us to once again see the world through the eyes of a growing child.
This book is also noteworthy for what it doesn't have. Anne doesn't espouse a philosophy or belief system. She doesn't wrap things up neatly in a pink bow of hope. Rather the hope came, for me, in realizing how much healing had taken place in the author's life to allow her to write as honestly and clearly as she did.
I've been fascinated by psychology and what makes us tick since I entered college more than fifty years ago. And in all that time, I've never read a book so raw and honest and well written. Wall's The Glass Castle and McCourt's Angela's Ashes come close. But Ollie Ollie In Come Free reaches a new depth.
I'm recommending this book to every therapist, social worker and professor I know. I'd love to see it become required reading for everyone studying counseling, education and psychotherapy. I also recommend it to everyone who is raising children, teaches children or who needs to look back at their own childhood with compassion and insight.
By sharing her world with such courage and grace, Anne has given us all a unique and wondrous gift.
    Heartwarming Memoir
This book left me wanting more. I didn't wan't it to end. Anne Bernard Becker has woven a tapestry of family nuances and suppressed feelings in a manner totally relatable to so many of us who were raised in families where unspeakable pain was never mentioned, let alone dealt with in any real way.

I grew up in Normal, Illinois, but had lived in New Jersey for more than 30 years when my father died at the age of 84. I was 54 at the time and soon learned that family secrets had been kept from me. Strange deaths, tragedies, indiscretions, and relationships lay in my past, totally hidden. It took me seven years to uncover these secrets from personal interviews, genealogical studies, public records, and cutting-edge scientific work done by worldwide experts.
Along the way, I trace my own life path from wanting to be a mechanic to gaining a master's degree at MIT and working at a famous research laboratory. I also tell my own 50-year love story. The secrets are now known, and I thought it was time at the age of 79 that I should write this memoir to tell you all about my Normal Secrets.

Why should you read this book? Let me count the ways!

If you attend, or attended, Normal Community High School. If you love vintage cars. If you ride, or would like to ride, Motorcycles. If you attended college in Missouri, or if you attended MIT. If you are searching for some hidden family secret. All this, and more. "Normal Secrets" was written by my high school classmate (NCHS class of 1956), Walter Kern. I cannot begin to count the memories that flooded over me as I read this. Even if you don't have any of the above attachments, I still believe you will find this an enjoyable read.

Walter Kern has written a fascinating memoir beginning with his childhood growing up in Normal, Illinois (hence the name of his book) to earning his bachelorâs degree at Missouri School of Mines & Metallurgy, meeting Jane, the woman who would become his wife. On graduation, he accepted a job with Bell Telephone Laboratories in New Jersey; Bell required their technical employees to have a masterâs degree and sent him to Massachusetts Institute of Technology for a year to earn a masterâs degree in electrical engineering. He spent most of his working career at Bell.
When he was 51, he and Jane became interested in motorcycling and this became a new passion for both of them. His memoir also covers secrets that he only resolved later in life.

    Title: Managing Bubbie
    Author: Russel Lazega
    Narrator: Russel Lazega, J.J. Crowne
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 10 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-27-17
    Publisher: Author's Republic
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
A multi-cast audio book featuring Tony and Golden Globe winner Linda Lavin, The Love Boat's Gavin Macleod, Tony and Emmy nominated Lainie Kazan, The Nanny's Renée Taylor, Grammy nominated Judy Tenuta and many more.
Her devoted family only wants the best for their Bubbie. Mostly they want to ensure that their matriarch's twilight years are spent in comfort, safety, and serenity. But how do you manage an aging, immutably stubborn Holocaust survivor who has risen above the squalor of Poland's ghettos; fled across the war-torn German wilderness; and survived the winter-ravaged Pyrenees alone on foot with three children? You probably don't.
Managing Bubbie is the heartrending, hilarious family memoir by Russel Lazega that recounts the frequently hectic, ever-exhausting trials of one Jewish family in Miami Beach as they try to oversee the care of the elderly, unmanageable Lea Lazega. As they scramble for an acceptable assisted living facility and struggle to get her medication in line, they discover the difficulties of controlling a woman who time and again eluded catastrophe by refusing to be told what to do.
A tapestry of an American family in the 1980s, Managing Bubbie also revisits the Holocaust period to mine the love, hope, and humor that emerged from the deepest despair. Anyone who savors a soft heart with a sharp funny bone will laugh, cry, and commiserate with the confounded family who must manage their beloved, impossible Bubbie.

    A fun read
    Well done.
Love this book. Well written. Enjoyed her story.
    Great book.
The guy who wrote the book on P.I.P. (litigation of no-fault claims be health care providers when car insurance companies don't pay medical bills) tries his hand and non-fiction with a touching tribute to his grandmother. Russell Lazega is a true Renaissance Man. Great book.
    Interesting read
I loved this book. It was written extremely well. I felt as though the characters were my friend. It was an easy book to get into.
    Good book, easy read
Good book, easy read. Hard to believe what some people go through and the strength they find within themselves. Well written going between modern day humor and the past horrors.

    Date de publication: 11-23-17
    Éditeur: Audible Studios
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs

    Couldn't put it down...
I began reading the âLook Insideâ version of Dougâs book on Amazon during my lunch breakâonce I had reached the end of that "free ride" [somewhere in mid-chapter 7], I was so engaged in his story that I immediately purchased the Kindle version and continued reading the book on my iPhone, undeterred by the fact that lunch break was far behind me and there were âwork relatedâ tasks to be attended to. I couldnât stop reading â and by mid-afternoon I had found myself converting my laugh-out-loud reactions to some of Dougâs descriptions of his real life experiences into loud coughing fits so that my co-workers would not become suspicious about what I was up toâ
Doug is a grand story teller. He has an authentic voice, and he is honest and forthcoming about where he has been, and what he has learned on his journey through this life - I found his story relatable and compelling. I give this book an unabashed âtwo thumbs upâ!
    Pointed, Powerful, Passionate and Personal
Grabs your attention immediately and holds you throughout the whole story. Doug tells it like it was and is and pulls no punches, doing so in direct, simple, honest and humorous ways. Personal journey from very difficult childhood to early horrific adulthood to prison purgatory and finally to personal redemption. The only thing better than reading Dougâs book is to hear him tell these stories in person. I have had that pleasure to hear his passionate, believable presentation. You must read this phenomenal, personal journey. You will be amazed and inspired by Doug.
Engaging, fast-paced and funny as hell
I have to admit, I havenât finished a book in years, but I finished this one. Piotterâs writing style is colorful, engaging, fast-paced and funny as hell. His trip through the depths of hell and back could have been dark and depressing, but his choice to add humor and vivid descriptions to the proceedings makes all the difference. As I was reading, the subject matter and illustrations made me think of Hunter S. Thompson, William Burroughs or Jack Kerouac.
But Piotter has his own unique style. He has a particular talent for relating ridiculous vignettes from his life that will make you laugh out loud. His father Ill Willâs misbegotten attempt to sell a bullhorn collection to a local high school comes to mind. As does the Volkswagen bug that mysteriously follows Piotter and his friends home one night. (Youâll have to read the book to find out why it was following them.)
In addition to all the humor and mayhem, thereâs a great message here about redemption and recovery. I highly recommend this book, and if you donât want to take my word for it, check out the Kirkus review.

    A Riveting Read
This is a shocking and amazing story! It is so hard to believe this could happen in the US! I recommend every daycare provider read it. This travesty was a combination of a very biased judge won over by an evil prosecutor, both who couldnât stand to be proven wrong even when new medical evidence became available! Their wrong-headedness all but ruined many lives with absolutely no accountability. My heart goes out to this family, especially Audrey who remained strong and determined throughout. A great read at the expense of a lot of people. Shame on the WI legal system!
    Humhum
I loved this book. I have a son currently in prison for the same thing. He has been there for 6 years and we are in the Appeals process. He has 3 children that he too has left behind and we are legal guardians of two of them. We make the 3 hour drive each way and take his 3 children to visit. I cried reading this book knowing that our son is going through the same thing that Audrey went through. I too continue to pray everyday that this horrible nightmare will end soon. Audrey gives me hope that the truth will eventually come out. Thank you Audrey for your story, you are a strong woman and your daughters should be very proud. God Bless you and your girls.
    Good Story, Frustraing Situation!!
I am not finished reading this saga. It has been a good read so far as I am 3/4 of the way through. It is eye opening to see how our judicial system works,.It certainly is not balanced. I found myself very angry that the parents were not even considered. It also is a shame that Audrey could not sue them for bringing a sick child for her to care for or find some way or reason to sue them. I hope when I get to the end of this story I get to read that the parents of this baby pay dearly!!!
    An Important Story, Well Told
This book tells an important story in an engaging voice.
Audrey Edmunds's case is a milestone in the evolving debate about shaken baby syndrome. She was convicted in the late 1990s, along with Louise Woodward (the "Boston nanny") and thousands of other infant care providers. The reversal of her conviction a decade later has heralded a new era in legal awareness about the unreliability of the diagnosis.
