Speed reading

Whew! I feel almost out of breath just listening to this. The story was short but sweet. However, the reading was done way too fast! It left me wondering if Amanda was related to a certain character in the book. She seemed never to slow down, as well. It certainly was not a relaxing experience.

I really enjoyed this opening into the Beckham bride series. It's short and sweet. I have bought all of them for my Kindle and it was fun to hear it out loud. Hope she keeps adding the rest of the series.

Chasing the Fire

This is a special book. All of Kathryn What's books are hard to put down and this one was no exception. There is romance, conflicts and excitement. You will find yourself hoping that they forgive each other .

Linc and Lisa Beth--a beautiful story

I purchased this whole firefighter series by Kathryn Shay. She does a lot of research so I have learned a lot along the way. The main thing I learned was I should have hung around the firehouse in my youth! If they're all like this I really missed something. This book has one of my favorite stories, of Dr. Linc Roberts and paramedic Lisa Beth Duncan, maybe because I have a medical background. Lovers in medical school and making plans for the future Linc falls to the temptation of fame and fortune and walks out on Lisa Beth. Ten years later he has realized his mistake and tries to win her back. Lisa Beth thinks Linc abandoned her at her lowest moment and hates his guts. The story of their reunion and reconciliation is one of my favorites. I have read and re-read this over and over.

The other two stories are worth reading but Linc and Lisa Beth outshine them both.

Great stories

Chasing The Fire: Hidden Cove Firefighters Series Book Six is by Kathryn Shay. It is a collection of three novellas of firefighters in Hidden Cove. The novellas could all be stretched into a full book with a little more action and suspense. They are all three so good that Kathryn should have done that. I especially liked book three, Flashover. I laughed and cried my way through it. This book of novellas is a must to read.

I loved each book in the Hidden Cove Firefighters series. I think I got one of Kathryn Shay's books as a free one but went on to purchase the rest of the series and read them within a week and then got two of my sisters hooked also. I was sad to see the series end. The positive was that I began the series after they had all been written so there was no waiting between books. Loved, Loved, Loved the series!!

Good, Simple Romance...HORRIBLE narration

Would you listen to Seducing Simon again? Why?

Yes, if someone else was doing the narration. The story was just a straight forward romance. No mysteries to solve, no evil characters hanging around--just a "let's listen to this and enjoy" kind of story. Sometimes it is just nice to listen to an "easy" listen.

What did you like best about this story?

The relationship between all the characters--not just Simon and Toni. These four individuals has made a true family for themselves and it was fun to listen to the interplay between them all.

How could the performance have been better?

Get a different narrator. When I listen to my audiobooks, I like to be able to distinguish between the different people in the story. This narrator used almost the same voices for all the characters...male, female, young or old. AND when the story calls for someone to yell or get angry or upset, it would be nice for the narrator to at least change the tone of the narration....It was all the same drab thing...Happy, angry, crying, scared...never a change in the tone . Unbelievably bad!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some of the scenes were funny. Some of the reactions to how Toni would act or look...that was pretty funny

For a Banks book, this was ok to fairly good.

I think I just have such high expectations for every single Maya Banks book I read/listen to after listening to the Sweet Series and McCabe Clan Series. This was simply ok to fairly good. There were great moments, but then there were boring moments. The plot line was good, but at times, I was like Toni should have just told Simone about the baby already... but no... Secrets Secrets! The ending was a bit dramatic but I like the HEA ending.

Ok narration. There really isn't a difference in male voices or female voices. The narrator more so read it not narrated it... if that makes sense... It was still decent though.

Credit... not a Maya Banks gotta have must buy! Maybe even a sale.

SECRETS, SECRETS, SECRETS THEY BLOW UP EVERY TIME

Please don't go buying this expecting it to be the usual HOT listen that Maya Banks usually writes (and the cover suggests) as it's definitely not - it's more Mills & Boon.

But what it is is a tender, sweet, riveting romantic book about the dilema of unrequited love which include secrets, seduction and hope as two best friends take a gamble of crossing the boundary of friendship hoping it will lead to love but aware they could lose everything.

A 'WHO CARES' LISTEN IT FAILED TO KEEP MY INTEREST

I can't believe it - I really liked the previous 2 books in this series, and usually love JL's books, but this one seemed to go on and on and on about irrelevant insignificant things that I found myself skipping over bits and even when I did it was just the same thing under different circumstances.

The main female character - Audrey - was a superstar but was just so wimpy and weak letting everyone tell her what to do and she couldn't decide the who, what, when and how's of her life that I couldn't imagine any of today's superstars being that way - so strike 1 -dislikable unbelievable heroine.

The storyline was ok but it just lasted way too long (it should have been a 6 hr book) but it was filled with uninteresting details and had quite a depressing storyline - so strike 2 -length.

One of the subplots was that she was getting death threats accompanied by gifts from a mystery villain but the identity was given to the listener early on and their was no big build up in finding out who it was and the eventual capture of the person was dull - so strike 3 - no excitement.

Had this of been a 6 hr book then I probably may have enjoyed it more as there were fun, romance and enjoyable parts but unfortunately most of the characters were dislikable, apart from Jack of course, but a book cannot stand on a handsome fit hunk's shoulders alone (no matter how broad) as even he needs some help.

Worth a credit? It falls under my $10 rule so I bought it - but not worth a credit or $10 however if it was in one of Audible's sales then perhaps.

Wonderful Series

Great books I love the group of characters. I can hardly wait for the next book. The stories and characters were so much fun. I always l love a book when I don't know what's going to happen, these stories were very diverse and entertaining. This series of books work well together or alone. Thanks Ms. London for great read, (well, listens in my case.)

Decent story but that narrator

The story was somewhat painful to listen to with the narrator but overall it was a decent story.

VERY ENJOYABLE ADDITION TO THE PAR/ ROMANCE SCENE

As the story unfolds we discover 5 members of the Lennon family, led by their Laird Callum, had a curse put on them in 1746 and they're all desperately looking for a cure to break the curse and think they've finally found it in the contents of an old book. Present day - in walks Phoebe to translate their old book for them.

For Callum (BHHH - broody handsome Highland hunk) it's instant attraction but he doesn't trust her and unfortunately Phoebe overhears this but she still can't resist him (well who could - check out the picture add a kilt and a Scottish accent, call me shallow, but all is forgiven) and so there's a lot of mental tail wagging, tongues out, drooling and panting done by the pair. However, we all know whenever there's a 'trust' issue then there's always a 'secret' and Phoebe keeps hers too long (typical) - it's one of those listens that you just know she's going to leave it too late to tell him and the inevitable dooda is going to hit the fan.

Interesting likeable characters and, of course, an evil Laird from another Clan makes this a captivating, interesting listen that has passion, sexual tension, romance, paranormal adventure and an intense plot which are all essential ingredients for a great supernatural listen.

My only very very slight criticism is that a few American words crept into the plot i.e.

In the beginning the story and the narrators tone was a little over dramatic in everyday things - The narrator could have fixed it in her tone, and thankfully she did did later in the story. Despite the over dramatics, the story was enough to keep me reading.

The middle of this book was pretty good, the female lead Becky was soft, sweet, and hard working. The male lead Rourke was appealing in that hard to get way. There was tons of potential and the story had me really interested...

The last half of the story Becky was angry and Rourke lost all his appeal by turning into a lapdog... That was a bummer. The author also used the word "taut" too much.

Diana has talent as a writer, and potential to really become more. A different direction with the lead characters attitudes through the last half of the book could have made this a favorite.

Another wonderful book!

I really look forward to each & everyone of Diana Palmer's books. Everyone of her characters are perfect for each story.

I used to think would be wasting my time by reading certain authors, however I have never regretted reading any of Diana's books! Thank you Diana Palmer.

This is clasic Diana Palmer but all of her books these days are starting to sound the same. He big scary intemidating man, she naive lil virgin who needs to be saved and taught about passion......okay have we done this enough allready. It was still a pleasent book but the story has been done to death now.

Reads like nonfiction

Way too much lecturing in the dialog between the DA and the girl to be romance and way to much background in the rest like all about the Baptist church etc, etc. Fiction should be fiction and non fiction should be non fiction

Cat Johnson - Yes

Ginger Perkins - No F-ing Way! She had everyone from the heroine to all the male characters sounding like the "stupid" character from old western movies. Complete with voice cracking and going up and down like a adolescent boy. Not to mention the over-acting.

I think Ginger Perkins has made it to my No. 1 spot of worst narrators. Too bad for Cat.

The narration was so bad I don't remember much about the story. I guess I tuned more out than I thought I had.

Retire Perkins.

The perfect punishment would be to make them listen to every recording Perkins made, after they were made to listen to some of the best narrators in the business like Therese Plunmer, Johanna Parker, and Kaleo Griffith.

Juvenile, but Sweet

In my opinion it is better suited to a teenage audience, than a mature one.

It's sweet, with a little humor about her rooster.

The narrator has a nice voice.

Better than normal DP

It's rare for DP to write a story where the hero isn't at least 10 years older than the barely-legal virginal heroine, but for once she did. She also seems to reuse plot devices as if they were Tupperware, but this story was a bit more original and even more believable. I did feel sorry for the demise of Pumpkin the cowboy attacking rooster. The hero's former girlfriend was a bit of a stretch, but put up with it.

The narrator was decent and she was able to perform both male and female characters comfortably.

Another enjoyable book

I still have not gotten my fill of this author's books. Now onto another book by Diana Palmer.

Thank you for never waiting my time by poorly written stories.

Romance for the very uptight

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This book is filled with the author's very awkward and obvious life style opinions. If you are a prude and like very superficial character stereotypes this is the book for you.

What was most disappointing about Diana Palmers story?

Lacks relatable characters and it's very superficial. She had the opportunity to explore a very difficult topic and squandered it. Extreme lack of character building.

Nothing, the story didn't give her much to work with from the beginning.

Bk1 of L.F. new series delivers a first class plot

Firstly, can I say that Lori Foster is an automatic download for me as I find her books both entertaining and brilliant.

This one is no exception, it's the start of Love Undercover series and what a great start it was. It has intrigue, mystery, secrets, suspicion and seduction and has you guessing right up 'til the end. Detective Logan is undercover to trap a witness to his best friend's murder by a gangster boss so seduces Pepper the sister of the witness but he gets much much more than he bargains for.

It has lots of interesting characters and, although it's not erotica, it has some 'action' between the sheets and I now have to wait until Spring 2013 when Reese's (his partners) story is revealed in Bare It All.

Worth a credit? If you like murder, mystery and all that ensues then you're gonna love this - it gets a YES from me.

Action Packed

I have always loved Lori Foster, in fact she's one of my top 5 writers of all time. Although I have to be honest....I was a little disappointed in the beginning of this book: in fact I almost gave up on it after listening to the first few chapters. But since it was a Lori Foster book, I decided to give it a little more time to develop, and boy am I glad I did! Shortly after that...this story took off like a rocket and it had me sitting on the edge of my seat right up to the very end of the story..

Well Jayne.... you had me at Chapter 1 !!

Ahhh, I really liked this book, it had a sexy rich cowboy fighting for the girl he lost a year before. She was your typical dim witted woman who thought she knew better but he just wouldn't take no for an answer.

If you want a deep listen and a very intricate plot then this isn't your book but it was a very pleasant way to spend nearly 6 hours.

I have not yet listened to a bad Jayne Ann Krentz (Amanda Quick) book.

An okay audio for an okay book.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Well-spent...? I don't think it was wasted, but I couldn't go much farther than that. I listen to audiobooks while I go to sleep (something to stop my mind from spinning in endless circles), and sometimes the narration will be so good, I'll stay awake to hear it. This wasn't one of those times. On the other hand it didn't particularly annoy me either.

No, but I'm more a book than a movie person anyway.

Since I only buy audios that I've already read the book for, I knew what I was getting into. While JAK's MIRA books are generally better than I would expect for Harlequin style, they still suffer from the limitations of the format. An incredible narration could have added a star to the rating, but that's wistful wishing. As is, the narration was about on par with the story.

Very enjoyable, boots 'n all!

Don't expect too much plot with this one. It is a pretty simple story that doesn't have any twists that can't be seen coming a mile away. Rafe is a business man, a corporate cowboy, who wears some delightfully described boots. Margaret is a romance writer who, a year ago, broke up Rafe due to information she apparently leaked to a business rival. Rafe wants her back and is sneaky enough to stop at nothing to try and get Margaret to agree. Despite the simple plot, it is an enjoyable relaxing story that is fully worth the low sale price it can currently be obtained under.

Jayne Ann Krentz is a great writer and I've enjoyed everything I've read (or listened) to from her. Kate Rudd was brilliant with her narration, and I'd eagerly seek anything else she has narrated.

(I'd also really, really love to get my hands on some of those rather fancy cowboy boots...)

Hooray for Rafe!!

That Rafe is some guy. He went after the girl and got her. What a good read. Distance and time does solve some issues. Through a series of misunderstanding true love does conquer all.

The guy is arrogant, overbearing, and dismissive. The woman is indecisive and ineffective. The characters made me nuts, so I did not finish this reread.

I had bought the audio on sale hoping that it was the one where the hero kept quoting passages from an alleged western author named Twitchell.

Besides, the narrator had a basically annoying voice quality, and when portraying the guy, sounded like a drag queen.
