Not the best of the series

I absolutely loved the entire billionaire boys club series and couldn't wait to get my hands on this, book 5. Sadly it wasn't anywhere near as good as the others. The love scenes were way way way to drawn out and if I had to hear one more time how she liked to be ...... well, let's just say there is one thing she likes and she talks about it a lot. :P

narrator blow it for me

I couldn't finish this one. The narrator blow it...This could have been a good book, but I just couldn't take the the narrator. Im going to read it.

Horrible Narrator

Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of the author and I've read alot of her work. However, the narrator totally ruined what is a great story. She had no emotion at all. The narrator sounded like she was reading a grocery list. she To top it off, she mispronounced more than a few words. it sounded like the recording was not edited as she repeated sentencies twice/ thrice in a row.

Sexy, Fun Listen

Not my favorite books I've listen to but I made it through, I didn't like that the narrator kept changing but the last narrator in the series was the best. Lola was a little weak for me. I like my heroines more strong-willed. There were a lot of times in the series I kept wanting her to just say no. It's not a bad series by any means just not one of my favorites.

Lola is one strong woman and she has much to endure along this ride with Xavier and learning some of his darker secrets. The story good but

This book is good but not what you think it will be storyline is a little different from what I expected. The narrator was not so good,

The Forgotten Child

I really like the story line behind this book. I am an avid reader and would refuse to listen to audio books, my mom tried for years to get me to listen to them. One day I decided to try as life got busy and I thought why not. With that being said the narrator has to be exceptional for me to truly enjoy the book. It was very hard for me to finish this one even though the story was so amazing due to the narrators voice. It was very irritating. I would recommend this book just not so much the Audible version. Please excuse the rambling as this is my first review ever.

I love the concept, but found the story lacking

I started with pretty high hopes for this story based on the description, but by the end of it, I didn't really care about any of the characters, except the boy (who we don't really get to know very well). The story starts out okay, and held my attention as it developed, but somewhere in the middle, I began to lose interest. It seemed like it started wandering a bit, or maybe there was too much going on.

Enjoyable from start to finish.

Would you listen to Luke: Complete Series again? Why?

Yes, and I plan on revisiting this book many times.

What other book might you compare Luke: Complete Series to and why?

Not sure I have heard a book like this before. There are designated chapters, yet at times, the narrators re-number them, for reasons unknown. Evidently, this was originally novellas, presented as singular episodes, brought together into one.

What about Lee Samuels and Kirsten Leigh s performance did you like?

Both portrayed each character quite well; however, Kirsten's voice was the predominant one. Lee might have needed to put more expression into the words. Even when the nanny and male child get lost, there is little emoticon on either side. Kind of like taking Xanax, very mellow.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The best part for me was Briana sneaking into the software promotion and seeing Luke kissing the new "arm candy". I loved her reaction and how he made everything okay for his true love. Just great.

Any additional comments?

I am not recalling any BIG four letter words; in fact, I don't recall anything that wouldn't be appropriate, unless the word "orgasm" is offensive. This book was a needle in the haystack find, and I am glad to have it in my library.

It was ok.

It was ok. There wasn't a whole lot of character development for Luke. He seemed to be just a really nice kazillionaire. Not much history until the series was almost complete. Would have liked more character development- I didn't really love him, but didn't hate him either. He was a super nice guy I wouldn't kick out of bed, but couldn't really get close to him. By the end of the series, I started to actually learn something abt both characters and there was some meat to the story, but not until it was abt over. The narrators were easy to listen to. I like having a man narrate sometimes to mix things up.

It's was ok.

I f I had to do it again I wouldn't. I choose it for 2 reasons....it was long and I love the narrators. besides that. The story was just ok.

Ridiculous

How can you knowingly fall in love with a liar and a thief? How can you let the person off for deceiving you as if it never happened? Those two main characters were ridiculous and so was the story. DNF

Love being in Love

I'm a true romantic. I was able to lose myself completely in Luke's and Brina's story. So cheered for the happy ending. Looking forward to reading/listening to more from this author!

Not A Bad Follow-up

This time the sister in the spotlight is Libby. Having been unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend when his ex-wife returns to Pine River. So she attacks his pickup with a golf club when she finds out that the two of them were schtuping each other while she was watching their kids. Then there is the little matter of the restraining order that Ryan slapped her with after the destruction of all the glass in his truck. An RO that doesn't seem to mean too much to Libby; given that she violates it on a regular basis. Deputy Sam Martin seems to be quite intent on seeing her through this difficult time. The fact that he has a major thing for Libby seems to be apparent to everyone but her. I'll stop with the overall plot right there to avoid spoiling the ending for anyone. Though given that this was a romance novel we already know the ending.

There is one point that I want to jump up on my soapbox about. Libby's attitude towards Ryan's children is understandable on an emotional level but as far as behavior goes I found it to be self serving and irresponsible. I understand the pull that she's feeling I've been there and felt the pain that comes from giving up someone that you love and who loves you. There are times that you actually do feel as though someone ripped out a couple of your vital organs without the benefit of anesthetic. The bottom line is that the feelings of the adult aren't what matters in this situation; it what's best for the child that's important. Her need to hang on to them is merely a way to make the inevitable end of said relationship a longer more difficult one. This factor lowered the enjoyment I took from the book and lowered the rating I gave it as well.

I love every character and Leo is my favorite. I wish I had that outlook in life. I will try to become as smart as him. Good readings!!

Loved the twists, turns, and valleys

I read Pine River #1 some time ago, and it wasn't my favorite Julia London book, so I missed the release of this book. I enjoyed, "Return to Homecoming Ranch," much more than, "Homecoming Ranch." I felt like there was much more depth to this book than the first. Many similar books are very predictable, but I am not ashamed to say that I did not predict most of the twists, turns, and valleys of this one.

my thoughts

I love it!!! the most memorable part are when Chase is giving you a hard time. the reader wasn't that good at doing the voices and made some of the characters sound like they had an Irish accent butt it was okay for the reading in just getting all the words out there as clearly as she could

Full of heat and heart!

The glimpses of Alex we were given in DARE TO LOVE, drive me to pick up DARE TO DESIRE immediately. There is nothing I love more them a cocky, athletic, bad boy. It's a character flaw, I know. I can't help myself. I also loved his interactions with Riley. He couldn't have been all bad, seeing how much he cared for her as they grew up. I really enjoyed pealing back the layers of Alex's character, and seeing past the face he gave the world. He was willing to make amends for past bad decisions. I was really touched by the person Alex become. I liked Alex in the first book, but I really fell in love with in this one!

Madison is absolutely amazing and resilient! She wasn't so lucky growing up. She had to fight hard for to get where she is today. I was very impressed that she had made a career helping kids have a better life then she had. It took so much for her to let Alex back into her life. And I really enjoyed how she made him really work for it. He was able to give her the emotional support that she greatly needed in her life.

Sophie Eastlake's narration of this book really made Carly Phillips' world come to life. She has a deep, sultry quality to her voice that lends well to this genre. Her character voices were distinct and clear. And her pace and phrasing we spectacular. The emotions that she brought to this story, made this a truly enjoyable listen for me.

DARE TO DESIRE brought together a wonderful mix of heat and heart. Although this was a short audiobook, I felt that author really took the time fully flush out the characters. I loved how this book was really about second chances. I also think the storyline in DARE TO DESIRE, took the emotional depths even further then DARE TO LOVE. I really grew to care about these two, and the rest of the Dare family. I just wished that we had gotten more of their pre-injurey relationship. I can't wait for the next installment in this series!

Absolutely loved Nick and Sky's story! It's funny, sexy, and sweet! A definite must read!

Dreams and Attitudes

This beautiful story about failure and success swept me away. I felt like I was there watching from the sidelines. Feeling happy, sad, confused, and humbled: I wanted them to lose the attitudes and see beyond themselves and beyond their parents.

H.M. Ward has once again written a book that is a keeper to read/listen to again later.

Good read

Got a look at Nick Ferro, he seems to me to be the tamest of the lot.

Skylar a photographer does some crazy stunts while doing a wedding shoot for her best friend. Nick 1/2 heartedly is attempting to put Skylar out of business, and as a matter of course it's because he is ordered by his dad.

But love saves the day!

The way Sky and Nick interact with each other made me laugh and a little sad.

This is a brilliant book and narrated superbly by Kitty Bang.
