Great first chapter book

Great first chapter book. No inappropriate language, words... one possibly inappropriate behavior/incident where the main character pokes a boy who was mercilessly teasing her with a stick. We talked about it, not a problem. Otherwise a really cute book, cute characters, real experiences either way. Posey is likeable to girly girls and tom-boys alike. My daughter is 1st grade homeschooled and I feel at a gr. 1 reading level. She needs a little help with some words/blends we haven't done yet, and this book has definitely introduced her to compound words and conjunctions. She loves reading it... 1 chapter a day is perfect.

Princess Posey's First Book

My daughter is in first grade and has recently become an avid reader. I saw this book on a recommendation by Amazon due to some other books I had bought her. So I purchased it and gave it to her for Easter. She quickly devoured it and moved on to book 2 in the series. She liked the story line and it was an easy read for her. Highly recommend!

My daughter loves this series opposed to Junie B Jones as those books are sometimes hard to read with all the grammar issues. Very easy for her to read to herself and then answer comprehension questions after the chapter.

Cute stories - bought for my 3 year old son to listen to in the car. A couple issues with the story - I don't like the use of a few phrases such as "idiot" and "stupid chicken". Just a couple phrases I'd rather not have my 3 year old repeating. But I know eventually he'll hear those things, just don't want them to catch on super early. Otherwise I may try out the other stories in this series because they're fun to listen to.

Great book for a 1st-2nd grader!

Got for my daughter who just got her first pair of glasses

We bought this book because my 5YO daughter just got glasses. Though Nancy wasn't the one to get the glasses in the book (her friend, Brie did), it was still a great book about how fun glasses can be! We like the Fancy Nancy books because along with the fun stories, there is always some fun vocabulary learning as well!

Spectacular book about Nancy and glasses

Fancy Nancy has always been a favorite character for my daughter so when she came out with a book about glasses we had to get it. I feel like this book rings true for a lot of children because when a child gets glasses they are so worried about what their friends are going to think. Once you start reading you realize that Fancy Nancy is actually not the character who has to wear glasses, it is her best friend Bree. As you read your child realizes very fast that Fancy Nancy wants to be just like her best friend Bree so bad that she to wants to wear glasses. In the end the figure out how they can be the same without Nancy having to get real glasses.

Good, Simple Message

This book, is an easy reader, for kids just learning to read on thier own. It's short and simple, as is the message - every day is Earth day. A kid can read it, understand it, and take away some tips to live by on an everyday basis - something SHE can do, on her own. It's not meant as a science or social lesson, and a 5-8 year old can understand the message. Yes, poor Nancy gets scolded for being insistant - that's what happens to grade school kids. They get it. A not-yet-3-year-old, maybe not so much. Good book, my 7-year-old likes it, and I don't mind hearing it several times.

Highly Recommend as a Professional Genealogist as a great way to introduce Family History concepts to children!

Oh my goodness! As a genealogist, I was so excited to find a book about Family History that might actually interest my 5 year old. I bought one for all the little girls in my family for Christmas too :) My 5 year old loved learning the "Fancy words" from Fancy Nancy - like Ancestors, Deceased, etc. I especially love that the book focused on how when a child knows stories from their family, it can help them make healthy decisions in their own life. Fancy Nancy struggles with being honest for a school report, and a story she learns about her great-grandfather helps her to be brave enough to be honest. Studies show that a child knowing their family history will actually help them be more resilient in difficult situations. I love that this is illustrated so beautifully in this short and fun little read! Highly recommend!!

Starting the project...

My granddaughters haven't seen the book yet, so I don't know what their reaction will be. The book, however, is a steppingstone to a project I have begun for them. I want them to know their family history. Their mother still has multiple relatives who can tell them stories, if someone knows to ask.

Their father -- my son -- has only me. I have some written material, but much of the family history is in my memory only. I wanted a guideline to start writing.

I would recommend this story to young readers who are *curious.* It is a good start to asking questions.
