Captivating.

Gosh this book was a hit in our house, and not because we're a family of builders. (On the contrary...) This sweet picture book about the adventure of building a house completely fascinated our 3-1/2 year old granddaughter and led to many, many re-readings and many, many questions about plumbing and wiring. (I had to go to the internet to answer some of her questions.) Factually very interesting for a small kid, but more than that, a quite charming description of the author's own experiences as a kid helping his family build their home. (Though he turned the narrator into a girl-- not quite sure why that was necessary.) But so sweet, so charming, so heartfelt. Loved it.

Fantastic story for tool-loving kids

My 3 year old adores this book! The story is engaging and the illustrations are bright and interesting. It's fun to watch the house and family grow over the course of the book.

Perfect Book!

This was just a delightful book & lovely story. My 3.5 year old grandson is very much into building things & construction but he has moved passed the basic hammer & bang type of story. Each page not only told a story with words but there was a second story going on with the illustrationsâ.we read it 2 times back & back & he couldn't wait to bring it home & read it some more!! The bucket truck was a huge hit, because both daddy & Papa work on oneâ..Once my grandson brought the book home, I also heard from my daughter, telling me how much she loved this book!!

BUILD A HOUSE!!

A charming concept book about a young family building a house in the country. Great watercolor/pen illustrations add to the charm. the book reinforces health family life and planning. there are some details in the pictures that parallel the text.

Such a charming story!

We LOVE this book. It's such a sweet story, with great illustrations - it's been one of my 3-year-old son's favorite books for the past several months, and we read it nightly... and I'm still enjoying it as well! We've given it to several friends for birthdays, as well, and everyone always raves about it. My son loves to look for all the little details - watching the mom's belly grow, looking for the kittens when they arrive, looking at the endpapers with the before and after of the land, etc. Highly recommend this book.

Read clearly

But in collateral haste. Difficult to hear the title of each story. A slight pause would have helps. Not a patch on Beatrix Potter.

the little mermaid

Very sweet. This is an unusual fairy tale as it does not really have a happy ending. However it it has all the classic ingredients- love, jealousy, heartbreak etc.The setting beneath the ocean waves is fun, this version is well-written and even though the end is sad it is still a story kids weil love,

A Must Buy for Pop-up Book Collectors!

Absolutely beautiful and so cleverly engineered by paper artist, Yevgeniya Yeretskaya, who happens to be the daughter-in-law of one of my favorite romance authors, Heather Graham! I collect children's literature especially high end pop-up books by paper artists like Subuda and Reinhart and this is a very welcome addition to my collection.

Snow Queen series is excellent reading!

Joan Vinge is one of my favorite Sci-fi writers of all time. This book is just great, but you really have to read The Summer Queen (the sequel) to get the Big Picture. Read them both, they're fantastic! Great mix of humanity and science.

I'm so glad they're now available for my Kindle as I have them both in hard cover and they're just plain heavy to lug around.

This book is beautiful! I looked it up because I was feeling nostalgic and this was one of the stories I remembered reading as a child. I found this book and the pop ups are incredible! The story line is fairly sophisticated compared to stories written for younger children but that works for us. My 5 year old son likes really long and complex stories so this was perfect for him and he loved the popups as well!

Before "Frozen" There Was This

This sci-fi take on the Snow Queen folktale is fantastic. Unfortunately, with the popularity of Disney's "Frozen," they can't make a film out of it without people thinking it's a rip-off.

Five Stars

Beautifully written!

This is a good book, our daughter likes it. It is a little wordier than the Party Pony book, but still good. It also talks about listening to adults and following the rules.
