    Publisher's Summary:
This is a story from the The Happy Prince and Other Stories collection.
Oscar Wilde's collection of fairy stories are among the greatest and most poignant classics for children and adults alike. Humour, pathos, delightful little characters abound in the stories of The Happy Prince and the Swallow who agrees to keep him company despite approaching winter; The Selfish Giant, who doesn't want children playing in his garden, and The Remarkable Rocket. In addition, there are those who are not so familiar: The Star Child, The Young King, and The Devoted Friend.
    Editorial Reviews:
A nightingale overhears a forlorn lover despairing for a red rose with which to woo, and is so moved that he chooses to sacrifice himself in getting that young man the exact flower he requires. Anton Lesser, well known for his character work in British television and films, is melancholy and compelling in his performance of Irish essayist, poet, and playwright Oscar Wildes ironic fairy tale centered on the nature, consequences, and likely futility of love-inspired actions. This performance is a selection from The Happy Prince and Other Stories collection of Wildes fairy tales.

    Good
I wanted the ending to be a little more adventurous like all the books are! I wanted it to be like they actually get the fortune! That's what the book is about!
    Not the best....not the worst
Love Gordon Koman books and tried this....but did not meet his standards.
    Engaging & lively middle-school adventure
My elder nephew is a bit of a book snob: "only non-fiction books," he tells me. "I don't like novels. Then I passed this one along to him after reading it, and assuring him that it contained plenty of nutritional content. Within minutes, he had his nose stuck in its pages, and refused to relinquish it in order to eat his meals.
I'm not sure his parents were thrilled by that, but the author should be. He has pulled together a lively, fast-paced and tremendously entertaining adventure tale that propels Tom and his uncle Harvey around the world in quest of a treasure: a tiger covered in precious stones, apparently looted by an ancestor back in the days when British soldiers were seizing control of what would become the Indian Raj.
I see a lot of other readers had reservations about the attitudes toward parental authority -- disrespectful attitudes, behavior that most boys would never get a chance to indulge in (like escaping from the police) -- but frankly, given the book's target audience, I'd suspect that most of this is pretty tame relative to the kind of stuff you can see in action movies that a 10-year-old boy would go to. In terms of this particular 10-year-old, when I asked what he thought about some of these issues, he looked at me as if I was crazy. "That's in the BOOK, not real life," he explained to me, patiently. "I don't get to do that stuff." Although he admitted he'd like to go to India and see some of the places for himself one day.
Do the antics of a fictional hero of a children's boy encourage disrespect and misbehavior? I can understand why a parent might be worried, but I suspect by the age of 10 or 11 -- the target audience -- while they may think wistfully about running away from home or having madcap reckless adventures, if they're the kind of kid who is going to get into trouble, it's not going to be this book that takes them there. What was more on my nephew's mind, finishing this book, was the adventure and the history; it simply never registered that this made it OK for him to be rude to his parents.

    A great family adventure!
This is a great book! I wouldn't classify this book as a children s book, but as a family adventure just like the old-fashioned Disney movies are a family adventure. This is the perfect book for long family trips on a vacation or even for a Sunday get-together. The young and old alike will love it!!!. I would call it a family paranormal.
Amy and the OLDGALS is about a town with lots of witches in it. The main characters are Amy and her one-eyed, one-eared old mangy cat named Scruff. This cat is a riot and he even talks!
The story starts out with Amy getting lost during a really heavy rain storm and hides in a tunnel that floods into a river and she is rescued and taken to Millie's house, where the story takes off. This part alone is very exciting! As we read more of the story, we meet many characters both good and bad such as Millie, Franny, Matt and so on. It becomes a fight of good witches vs bad witches. I really liked how it ended too when Amy got a new partner.
This is a wild adventure ride packed with action, suspense, mystery and magic. It is a G rated family adventure to thrill everyone who listens. I found many places that gave me quite a chuckle too - specially Scruff, what a character he is!
The author, Katherine E Warner did a fantastic job writing this story! She has packed it with a great plot with so may twists in it, it would make a good witch jump for joy! The narrator, Abby Elvidge is fantastic with her delivery of this book. Her speech is flawless, the sound effects are awesome and the book as a whole is just so much fun!!! Abby is a master of voices.
Eight Hours of FUN and Scary Adventure!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Amy and the OLDGALS was written for children--ages 5 to 7 through middle grade would probably love it--but my wife and I enjoyed it, too, as it made us laugh frequently and drew us into the plot's suspense.

    Length: 20 mins

    Release date: 08-05-13
    Publisher: Elf Enterprises, LLC
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 1 votes
    Genres: Kids, Ages 5-7
    Publisher's Summary:
The first of the "Santa's Izzy Elves" stories, this Christmas tale in verse celebrates the power of children's imaginations and the magic of books.
Naughty Owen and Alex sneak downstairs early on Christmas morning before their parents are up and open one of their big presents from Santa. They are disappointed to find that it is a bookshelf filled with books - not the electronic games they were hoping for. Their disappointment turns to amazement and concern, however, when they find Tizzy, one of Santa's elves, who has been packed inside the bookshelf by mistake.
Tizzy, desperate to get back to the North Pole, points out that Santa's sleigh is powered by the imaginations of children, and asks the two boys to use the power of their own imaginations to send him home. But how?
Dorothea Jensen is an award-winning author of fiction for children. Her novel about the American Revolution, The Riddle of Penncroft Farm, has been used in classrooms all over the U.S. for more than twenty years.
She is also an experienced actress and singer. She performed with the Ex Machina Baroque Opera Company in Minneapolis, and also played Gilbert and Sullivan battle-axe contralto and ingenue mezzo roles with companies in Philadelphia and Minneapolis.

    Delightful tale of an elf
This is the first in the elf series. The story is fast paced and right on target for the holiday. The elf , Tizzy wants to get home for Christmas but is stuck somehow with the boys. They try wishing him home on a toy train but he only gets dizzy. Then they try the video game but monsters try to get him so that doesn't work. Next up, a book filled with imagination and dreams. This is exactly right. Tizzy is found, happy and safe back with his family for Christmas. I must address the kindle format. The font was teeny and hard to read. The story was limited to one page of dialogue, then an illustration. This isn't always optimal for children as they like to look at the pictures as we read. Otherwise a good story.
    Very, very clever!
Such a wonderful story that compares modern gifts at Christmas time with the imaginations of children which can be used just as effectively during the Yuletide spirit. Young children, pre-readers, and yes, even adults will enjoy this illustrated make believe version set to the rhyme of "Twas the Night Before Christmas". Jensen's creativity is cleverly shown throughout the story and of course, her resourcefulness makes for a very happy ending! I'm anxious to read more of the Izzy Elves to see what she comes up with in future stories!
    Poorly done
Terrible knock off of elf on the shelf. The paragraphs are written as long run-ons that are very difficult for children to read, even as an adult I had found it hard to read. Sketches are low quality. Don't waste your money on any of the books in this series.
    Captivating!
This charming story in couplets would be a compelling Newbery contender.

Perfect Book for Busy Families with Gorgeous Step By Step Photos and a Variety of Recipes
This cookbook focuses on dinnertime meals. Well organized and filled with recipes for a wide variety of tastes, this book is good for cooks at any level.
This book is simply beautiful. Filled with colorful and informative photos (there is a picture for every recipe), this book not only is great to look at but also gives good information for those of us who are competent but not particularly instinctive when it comes to cooking. I especially like the step by step photos so that I can get an idea of what the dish should look at while I am cooking it instead of just hoping it turns out like the finished product.
This book is organized by type of meal. With categories such as comfort food, soup for dinner, salad for dinner, breakfast for dinner, the book gives the reader a sense of the different possibilities for meals. There is also several sections on different types of side dishes and even desserts so readers can mix and match main dishes with the sides and desserts they like to make a complete meal.
I was especially pleased with the section on freezer meals. While basic and certainly not an attempt to be a treatise on the subject, this section gives readers the opportunity to prepare staples to keep frozen and then provides several different ways that those frozen staples can be used to make different meals. For example, the book provides a recipe for meatballs that can be frozen and then gives recipes for their use in sweet and sour meatballs, Swedish meatballs, etc. This section and the section on quick preparation meals are especially good for busy people who don't have hours to spend in the kitchen to prepare a dinner.
This book also has a great variety of recipes. There are recipes that are basic (especially good for picky eaters), meat and potatoes type recipes and then also recipes for more adventurous eaters. I appreciated the variety of recipes because nothing annoys me more than cooking books that are only for gourmet eaters.
Although titled Dinnertime, this book has such a great variety of recipes that they can be used all day long.
Fantastic! Delicious! Quick and Easy! Great for teens to learn with, too!
Fantastic! If you love Reeâs show, youâll love the book! This one is comfort food with a twist. I love The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl for straight comfort food. Reeâs books have photos of both the finished dish and photos of the process making the dish, which makes her books terrific to empower teenagers to get going independently, and feel really proud bringing those yummy dishes to smiling people at the table.

My Grandson enjoyed reading this book.
    Great reading book!
Our son is in kindergarten class and is loving to read. He has always loved reading but now he is wanting to read more. The words a clear and printed big enough for him to see them.
    Fun for Beginning Readers
My daughter loves the Flat Stanley stories, but wasn't able to read them on her own. Finding readers that featured one of her favorite characters was great. They are simple enough for her to read on her own and motivated her to build her skills so that she could begin to read the full versions on her own. It's far more entertaining than some of the readers out there!
