We recently had the chance to sit down with Twitch streamer and famous Youtuber Ludwig, to talk about branding, stats, marketing, growing on Twitch and Youtube, and more.

This talk is part of our guest series of videos that feature highly successful Twitch streamers and YouTubers. We break down how they grew their Twitch and Youtube brands, talk about marketing, the Twitch and Youtube ecosystem, and more. The talk has information on how to grow on Twitch in 2020, the fastest growth techniques for growing followers on Twitch, and more. It's a great amount of information in four hours.

We often create stories about Twitch streamers without knowing the entire story behind them. Almost no streamer on Twitch has more controversy than Alinity. Alinity is notorious on Twitch for several reasons and has reached into both gaming industry and national news with stories of her on Twitch.

I've wanted to talk to Alinity for a long time and learn about how she thinks about her situation. Alinity has recently been vocal about the unprecedented harassment she receives on all her platforms. There's a lot more to Alinity than the story tells. I hope everyone listening to this podcast will give Alinity a chance and take the time to understand her thinking. Many people have called for Alinity to get banned on Twitch and several other platforms.

Some themes I covered here that are really important are, online harassment especially related to content creators and Twitch streamers, and taking time to understand how comments affect Twitch streamers.

This is a talk between full-time Dungeon Master Arcadum and I. Arcadum is an upcoming Dungeons and Dragons broadcaster who has taken Twitch by storm by running six campaigns at once with many prominent broadcasters. Broadcasters like MoonMoon, Timmac, Bikeman, and more join Arcadum's world of Verum to play in a persistent universe that has been created over 15 years.

Dungeons and Dragons is an interesting category on Twitch. In this talk we talk a lot about D&D, the category on Twitch - but also how it is streamed in other categories where the numbers shake out a bit differently. The Twitch Safety Advisory Council is a new initiative from Twitch. Twitch created this "Twitch Council" to set up a board of advisor-experts to help Trust and Safety make informed decisions about longstanding problems on the website. Inconsistent bans and enforcement are a longstanding problem on Twitch.   

     In 2018, Twitch had the initial idea to create this Council as a way to show they are listening to streamers and viewers about the problems on the platform. Two years later, four broadcasters and four experts are selected to form this Council. I have a ton of respect for some of the members - I think CohhCarnage and Zizaran are highly intelligent and set up to do great things.

     The community has since lashed out against one of the members, FerciouslySteph. While we talk a little bit about this in the podcast - I think no one's actually asking the question of whether this Council actually makes a difference on what it sets out to do. In this podcast we discuss if the Twitch Council even matters, and if it's going to make any difference on the issue of bans and enforcement.

The recent situation with famous esports team Team SoloMid had a lot of drama at first, and I didn't think I'd cover it on the channel. However there's been a recent development of TSM President Leena Xu speaking about player management issues concerning LCS player Dardoch on the phone on Doublelift's stream. I thought that the issue brings up interesting issues for esports, esports news, and esports business and I wanted to do a full breakdown on it.   We also see statements from Reginald, CEO of TSM and Leena. One of the reasons I wanted to do a breakdown is I don't feel there is a strong objective analysis of the Team SoloMid situation. There's a lot of emotion going around and I didn't feel like the news sources I looked at to see the TSM issue addressed it. So I decided to make one.   In this episode we break down the situation, Leena and Reginald's statements, Dardoch as a player, how this relates to Riot Games, League of Legends, and the LCS. As usual I try to be objective and stay away from TSM drama, Leena drama, Reginald drama or anything else about it. Hopeful it provides some interesting insight into esports and team management that is uncommon without stories like this.   Enjoy!

Coming soon to a Twitch stream near you is an inevitable battle around DMCA. DMCA is a problem that's plagued Youtube for years, but gone mostly unnoticed on Twitch. This is exclusively because of the size difference between the two platforms. As Twitch grows, and Twitch streamers become more famous, DMCA is quickly becoming a problem we see in every day media. It will get worse before it gets better. Streamers will continue getting banned on Twitch.    We will see an uptick in DMCA cases on Twitch and this has already effected streamers like Destiny, Hasanabi, David Pakman, and more. This is an issue that will deeply effect broadcasters going forward, as an enormous amount of DMCA content is streamed on Twitch. In this episode I explain this is less a problem for music and much more for people streaming full video.

Pokimane is one of the most interesting people on Twitch - and is overall the #1 most successful female influencer in livestreaming. She's accomplished this through a unique approach to community building and livestreaming that we'll talk about and explore on this episode. Poki contacted me to build out a past/present/future look at her stream and look at what she could do moving forward for it - I was super happy to do this because it's something I wanted to do as a project for a long while. 

I've seen a frightening amount of misinformation about the coronavirus (properly called COVID19.) We need to break down the truth of the coronavirus and its impact on people. Ethan Evans (VP @ Twitch Prime) and I sit down with a leading virologist to discuss the impact of coronavirus, dispel the most common myths in the media about it, and explain how worried you actually need to be.  WE NEED TO TAKE THE TIME TO LISTEN TO ACTUAL EXPERTS AND FOCUS ON SCIENTIFIC FACT. I just want the information out there.  Vincent Racaniello, Ph.D. (@profvrr) is Higgins Professor of Microbiology & Immunology at Columbia University Medical Center. He has been studying viruses for over 40 years, starting in 1975, when he entered the Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine of the City University of New York. His thesis research, in the laboratory of Dr. Peter Palese, was focussed on influenza viruses. In 1979 he joined the laboratory of Dr. David Baltimore at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, for postdoctoral work on poliovirus. In 1982 Vincent joined the faculty  in the Department of Microbiology at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City. There he established a laboratory to study viruses, and to train other scientists to become virologists. Over the years his laboratory has studied a variety of viruses including poliovirus, echovirus, enteroviruses 70 and D68, rhinovirus, Zika virus and hepatitis C virus. As principal investigator of his laboratory, he oversees the research  that is carried out by Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows. He also teaches virology to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as medical, dental, and nursing students.
