“We’re attached to the project.”
Monday was the 65th anniversary of the first episode of “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends” and we’re celebrating the second part of our two-part Rocky and Bullwinkle marathon by talking about this 2000 live-action/animation hybrid featuring one of the most iconic duos in the history of animation! Along the way, we discuss the highs and lows of this adaptation, the highs and lows of the Farrelly Brothers comedies, whatever happened to Piper Perabo, and a rousing point-counterpoint on the topic of Jason Alexander! All this and SO MUCH MORE! Be sure you don’t miss this one!
We’re not in the habit of faxing our thoughts and opinions across cyberspace, not when there’s still social media! Here’s where to find us on your social medium of choice (unless it’s Xitter):
“It’s good to be bad!”
In honor of the 65th anniversary of “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle” cartoon show next week, we’re taking the next couple weeks to dive into the two big screen adaptation of the classic Jay Ward animated series! And we’re kicking things off with a look at the 1992 made-for-TV (but intended for the cinemas) movie featuring Moose and Squirrel’s arch-nemeses! Join us as we talk our histories with Rocky and Bullwinkle, discuss why Rocket J. Squirrel is the greatest straight man of all time, and debate which elements work in this film and which ones don’t!
The four corners of Egypt may belong to King Tut, but these corners of the Internet belong to us:
“You already know the ending to this story. You can only draw it so many ways.”
Happy November, dear listeners! We’re kicking off the month of thanks by welcoming back our friend DeVaughn Taylor, returning to the pod to talk about one of his favorite cinematic subgenres - the unconventional superhero film! And, along the way, we discuss our favorite abilities from this movie, various points of comparison, our dream-casting Cassie’s mom, and, as a treat, DeVaughn explains anime to Tucker and Stephen!
The only thoughts in DeVaughn’s head are his own. Don’t believe us? Follow him on the following platforms and see for yourself:

“Keep it up. Just keep it up. I’ve got friends in Jersey.”
We’re closing out our fifth annual Spooky-thon with a Straight Up, our quarterly foray into the favorite films of our own Tucker! This time, we’re covering a 1983 psychological horror film and, while we do, we disagree on this movie’s ending, our personal histories with actors Peter Weller and Maury Chaykin, and reminisce about sports drinks from the ‘90s!
We never said anything about rubber gloves. Or did we? Better check our social media and make sure:
“Blood works best.”
This week, Spooky-thon 2024 keeps on trucking as we get prepped for Venom: The Last Dance to arrive in theaters by talking about a horror film also conveniently called Venom! Along the way, we find time to talk about Tucker’s mozzarella stick obsession, 2002's The Thing video game, the life of an old-school projectionist, and so much more!
Feel like you have snakes crawling under your skin? Follow us on social media! It probably won't fix anything, but might distract you for a few minutes!
“All I want to do is graduate from high school, go to Europe, marry Christian Slater, and die.”
The gang’s all here to discuss this horror-comedy classic! In addition to our discussion of the various actors involved (including the late, great Donald Sutherland), we also take time to dig into the career of Sasha Jenson, do some armchair psychologizing of Joss Whedon, debate whether separating art from artist is possible, and take a very special trip to Brett’s Video Game Corner!
Does the word ‘duh’ mean anything to you? No? Us neither. Follow us on following social media to find out why:
“You’re so pretty…”
We’re out on vacation for Week Two of Spooky-thon and this week, we’re covering a rare PG-rated slasher from the earliest years of the subgenre and, along the way, discuss such diverse topics as the filmographies of Joel Schumacher and propagandist Leni Riefenstahl, whether or not this film’s star Chuck Connors (a.k.a. ‘The Rifleman’) was a good dad, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2002, and the original Straw Dogs, its remake, and the real world and online personas of James Woods.
Social media is so dark and, while we may never see again, give us a follow on these platforms before the lights go out altogether:
“Well, you don’t need the police, pal, you need a psychiatrist!”
Our fifth annual Spooky-thon is officially a GO as we take on a true cult classic this week! Join us as we answer the burning questions surrounding this movie like: Is this the ultimate Tucker movie? (Don’t worry - he’ll let you know early and often!) What’s the best format (and network) for a follow-up to this movie? How does the video game factor into the Killer Klowns oeuvre? We get into ALL of this and SO MUCH more on this week’s episode, so don’t miss it!

“Okay, I’d appreciate a prophecy with more relatable stakes.”
This week, we’re joined by a LONG overdue returning guest, our friend, author and Hellboy enthusiast Cat Scully to talk about the ill-fated (and maybe unfairly maligned) Neil Marshall reboot of the Mike Mignola-created franchise! Along the way, we make some time to chat about our personal Hellboy histories, why Ian McShane always hits, and how David Harbour fares in a role made iconic by the great Ron Perlman!
Watch Hellboy (2019) star David Harbour take a stab at another iconic pop culture figure in the SNL short, Grouch: https://youtu.be/kqpak5lFxvs?si=KzuE-rhJ9TGTtyd1

“But cheer up! There's at least one bright side to this! One day you're going to die and, when you end up in Hell, at least it'll be a step up from this place!”
It's our 200th episode and, for this very important milestone episode, we've opted to let Tucker write the show notes!
Gosh f***ing darn it you guys, this is a pretty rad episode. We talk about the movie and some other stuff and it's just so good. You're going to love it. Also, you may notice that the theme song has been remade, so please enjoy that as well. Love you, bye! - Tucker
