Today we go back 12 years to Super Bowl 42 in Glendale, Arizona, where Tom Brady and the New England Patriots were one game away from the second perfect season in NFL history. All they had to do was beat the New York Giants, who reached the playoffs with a 10-6 record and a Wild Card bid.
This record-setting Patriots offense had cruised through regular season at 16-0 and was a 12-point favorite to knock off Tom Couglin's Giants.
As we all remember, the Giants shocked the world that night and we still talk about the David Tyree catch to this day, but what else did we see during that game?
We hit all of that and then some so check out the show!

ESPN's long run of documentaries during the pandemic takes us to 30 for 30: Long Gone Summer, a look at the 1998 MLB season where Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa chased down Roger Maris' home run record while the nation watched on.
Tonight we're going to recap the documentary and share our thoughts on the two hours look at one of the greatest summers in MLB history.
We'll tell you why we were disappointed in the 30 for 30 overall but still enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

Today's episode goes back to one of the greatest plays in college football history. The Doug Flutie Hail Mary against to propel Boston College over Miami is one of those iconic moments that gets shown all the time.
Neither of us had ever seen the game so we put it on the list to revisit and we're glad we did. Not only was this finish incredible, but this entire game was as good as you'll find for a regular season matchup without a whole lot on the line.
The eventual Heisman winner went against redshirt sophomore Bernie Kosar in one of the best passing duels of that era.
So join us as we go back through this 1984 showdown, which aired the day after Thanksgiving on CBS with Brent Musburger on the call.
There's so much outdated content during this time that's amazing as well, and we'll discuss that along the way.

The latest 30 For 30 documentary on Lance Armstrong wrapped up Sunday night and we're talking about a LOADED episode.
Part 2 greatly overshadowed the first episode because this one had all the drama, backstabbing, snitching, and bitterness that makes up the doping scandal in cycling.
We start with Lance's rise to the top and seven straight Tour de France titles, the creation of Livestrong, and then the downfall. We also learn all about the characters in this story like Floyd Landis and George Hincapie.
The crazy part about this episode was learning about all of the relationships and people he left in his wake as the lies got bigger and the success grew larger. And when it's all said and done, this documentary does nothing to make you like Lance Armstrong. If anything, any respect for him goes out the window.
Find out what we learned in this documentary and why it opened our eyes so much on this episode.

Since we had a lot of fun with The Last Dance documentary recap shows, we decided to keep it rolling with ESPN's latest Sunday night release: 30 For 30: LANCE.
This show will recap what we saw during the first part of the documentary on the most well-known cyclist in American history. Lance Armstrong brought a nation together with his triumphant comeback story and rise to greatness but it turned out to be too good to be true.
On this first part, we look at:
This was a strong first episode and opened our eyes to a lot about Lance Armstrong, the Tour de France, and the sport of cycling.

We put a bow on the last installment of The Last Dance documentary on ESPN and it was a heck of a run. The look back through Michael Jordan's career with the Chicago Bulls and that final 1997-98 championship season was captured over the course of ten episodes and tonight we recap the final one.
There's a lot to hit but here are the main discussions:
This was a lot of fun and hoped you enjoyed it as well. Check out more on the episodes here: https://distantreplaypodcast.com/the-last-dance-documentary-episodes-9-10-recap/

The Last Dance documentary on the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan's career is down to its penultimate episode as we close out the 1997 NBA title against the Utah Jazz.
We find out the real story behind the infamous flu game, which is a big takeaway from this entire project, but we also see that Eastern Conference Finals matchup against Reggie Miller and the Indiana Pacers. Jordan closes out game 7 for just the second time during this Bulls run.
We'll also discuss:

With just three episodes of The Last Dance documentary left to go, we get into Jordan's return to the NBA. This episode hits on a lot from 1995 and 1996, including these topics that we talk about on this episode of Distant Replay:

The fourth Sunday of The Last Dance featured episode 7 to start off the night and it was a look at Michael Jordan's time away from the game of basketball. This might have been the emotional episode of the documentary thus far with the death of his father and then the powerful final scene of the episode.
Here's what we're covering:

Jordan has arrived and eyes are on him everywhere he goes. That's what we begin to see in Episode 6 of 'The Last Dance' documentary airing on ESPN.
With that attention comes added scrutiny as well. Does Jordan have a gambling problem? Should he be going to Atlantic City in the middle of the Eastern Conference Finals?
Jordan tells us it's not a gambling problem but rather a competition problem. Classic.
This episode also provides the most meme-able moment yet when security John Michael Wozniak gives Jordan the double-shrug after beating him in a game of quarters. It honestly gets better every time you watch it.
This wasn't the busiest episode but we also get to:
