In this episode of Divergently Psyched, Dr. Katie Stahler breaks down what boundaries are—and what they aren’t. We’ll explore the different kinds of boundaries, why setting them often feels uncomfortable (especially with the people who need them most), and practical ways to start building healthier, more flexible limits in your everyday life.
Your nervous system runs the show in the background every day — speeding you up when it senses stress, and slowing you down when it feels safe. In this episode of Divergently Psyched, Dr. Katie Stahler breaks down the stress responses you’ve probably heard of (fight, flight, freeze, and fawn), explains how life experiences shape the way your body reacts, and shares simple, free tools to help you tune in and regulate.
If you’ve ever felt “stuck,” overwhelmed, or like your body is overreacting, this episode will help you understand what’s happening and how to respond with care.
In this first episode of Divergently Psyched, Dr. Katie Stahler introduces the podcast and shares why mental wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all. You’ll hear a little about her background, why this work matters to her, and the difference between mental health and mental wellness. Together, we’ll explore why not every tip or trend online works for everyone — and how you can start discovering what helps you feel grounded, connected, and well.
Hi, I’m Dr. Katie Stahler — psychologist and host of Divergently Psyched. Each week we’ll talk about everyday ways to build mental wellness — from boundaries and rest to joy and connection. This isn’t therapy, just ideas and encouragement you can use on your own path.

Welcome to Divergently Psyched! I’m Dr. Katie Stahler, a psychologist based in Pittsburgh who believes mental wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all. This podcast is all about exploring different ways we can care for our minds and our lives — from setting boundaries and calming our nervous systems to rediscovering joy, building connection, and actually enjoying rest.
Even though I am a psychologist, this isn’t therapy. Instead, think of it as a mix of ideas, tools, and conversations you can take into your everyday life. My hope is that you’ll leave each episode feeling encouraged, supported, and a little more grounded.
Whatever you’re searching for in life — or simply doing in this moment — tune in and let’s explore what mental wellness can look like when it truly fits you.
Your path. Your brain. You’re psyched.
