Bathroom Remodel Planning Steps
1. Pre-Budget

2. Pre- planning

3. Adjust budget
a. Cost list

i. Good idea to look at the existing room making a list of the parts currently in use
c. Subcontractors
d. Tool rental
e. Dumpster
f. Portable Toilet
4. Adjust all planning details
5. Final Budget (Plus 10% contingency)
6. Order all materials (do not start until everything is at the site)
7. Final schedule
8. D-Day (demo day)
Most Often Forgotten Material and Tools
Material
· Plumbers putty (for sink drain)
· Teflon tape (for all threads, including sink tailpiece)
· A couple small tubes of construction adhesive (Liquid Nails)
· Misc. length drywall screws (1 5/8” and 2” and 3”)
· Bundle of cedar shims
· Paintable kitchen and bath silicone caulk
· Yellow and red wire nuts (a few of each)
· Roll of electrical tape
· Pigtail light socket (temporary light) or portable light
· Very large garbage bags for debris and put bottom of toilet in one so it doesn’t drip when you carry it out
· Floor protection from bathroom to outside
Tools
· Basin wrench
· Cheap box fan (drying drywall compound)
· Crescent wrench (small)
· 2 putty knives, 1” and 3”
· Portable light
· Pry bar (medium flat bar)
· Safety glasses
· Dust masks
