Ingredients

20 OREO cookies (remove the cream center) crushed fine, about 2 cups

(If you are using a larger flatter pan to bake use 3 cups of crumbs and 4 ½ Tablespoons butter)

3 Tablespoons butter (melted)

4 8oz packages Philadelphia Cream Cheese (softened)

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup Breakstones sour cream

6 squares Baker’s semi sweet baking chocolate (melted)

4 eggs

2 to 3 cups COOL WHIP whipped topping

2 cans 21 oz cheery pie filling

     PREHEAT oven to 325

1         cheesecake baking pan (spring form)

2         Mix cookies crumbs and butter and press into bottom of baking pan

3         Bake for 10 minutes

 Mix

1         Beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended.

2         Add sour cream and chocolate

3         Add eggs one at a time, mixing on slow speed, until well blended

4         Pour into baking pan over crust

 Bake

1         80 minutes (plus or minus)  in deep cheesecake pan (9” diameter x 3” deep) until center is almost set. Remove from oven and cool. (if using other pan adjust baking time)

2         Refrigerate at least 4 hours, overnight is best

3         Remove cheesecake from baking pan and place on serving dish

4         Cover entire cheesecake (top and sides) with COOL WHIP

5         Pour pie filling into strainer removing about 1/2 of the syrup (no not crush cherries)

6         Place cherries over the entire top of the cheesecake

Tip of the Week. Fix Those Squeaky Floors

1.   Tip of the week…………This time of year. In the snow belt when the weather changes the floors in homes get squeakier, is that a word? Anyway they develop more squeaks because of the dryer cold air. Moisture leaves the wood, and it shrinks. You all remember the famous Seinfeld episode on shrinkage right? No … Google Seinfeld shrinkage if you need a laugh….. Any way I digress…. You will ned access to the underneath of the floor, like a basement or crawlspace.  

a.    You need 2 people, a ladder and a bundle of shims the longer cedar shims work best, a drop cloth and couple tubes of liquid nail construction adhesive.

b.    Get on your ladder in the basement and have the other person walk around in a room upstairs and wherever you hear squeaking try to slide a shim between the floor joist and plywood. Continue doing this in each area until you have eliminated most of the squeaks. Rarely will you get them all.

c.    When you are done with that part make sure your drop cloth is down, put a mark on the shim where it stopped sliding in. Pull it out and coat both sides with liquid nails up to your mark and slide the shim back in. Do this one at a time and keep people from walking around that area til the glue sets. 

d.    You will probably have to repeat this process to get them all. After the glue sets you can go back and remove the excess shims if you want to. 

e.    On the path to a less squeaky floor!
