Mumush is a young festival set between a panoramic hill and a forest in Transylvania – the intimate underground kind where the music has room to breathe and the organizers actually care about every detail.

This set required real-time adaptation: Tsu played before me and surprised everyone with something much more atmospheric and melodic than expected, so instead of starting closer to dark techno I had to continue from where he left off and navigate toward the sound Dekel would need to inherit. A warm-up set is a different kind of responsibility than headlining – you're building a floor for someone else, and that challenge is something I genuinely enjoy.

The result is two hours of eclectic, barrier-breaking psytrance: zenonesque, acid, tribal, goa, techno, progressive – moods constantly shifting, tempo accelerating throughout. Starts at 130 BPM, finishes at 140. Plenty of room to experiment, plenty of variation, several unexpected turns.

I find that rhythms between 130 and 140 BPM offer many times more possibilities to play with bass notes and generate interesting basslines – which for me are the main generator of dance moods. You can also smoothly blend together elements from very different sub-genres of electronic music, and that was my intention here. Psychedelic trance, techno, zenonesque, progressive, tribal, acid and goa – a sonic journey from light to dark, organic to digital, groovy to deep, Earthly to spacey. 134 to 139 BPM.

Both a play and a serious experiment. The title 'Hide & Seek' is life-inspired – make of that what you will. 💡

DJ set from Flow Experience Festival 2021, Austria. Sunday morning, 7:00 AM. 🌤️

This was the first major commercial festival in Europe after almost two years of pandemic lockdowns. Limited to 5,000 people – half the usual capacity – but it felt almost surreal just to be there. A crowded dance floor again. People dancing. You don't appreciate that until it's taken away.

I played the transition from night psytrance into morning: starts at 148 BPM in faster territory, gradually opens up toward melodic, atmospheric, progressive sound, finishes at 140 BPM. The festival was heavy on classic full-on and progressive so I tried to bring something different – you should say if I managed. 😎

Flow Experience is the biggest psytrance gathering in Austria, with one of the most elaborately decorated stages in the European psytrance circuit.

Ambient & chill set recorded in 2011 for "Sera de Cultură Vie" – a bio food and healthy lifestyle event in Bucharest, organized by a friend. 🌿

Found it on a hard drive ten years later, listened to it again, and enjoyed it very much. Most of the music here is old school – some tracks are genuine classics. The kind of material that ages well because it was never chasing trends.

Goes through various styles and moods without rushing: psychedelic to deep, uplifting to relaxing, downtempo to dub, electronic to organic. No particular BPM range – just a journey through sound.

DJ set from Tribal Gathering 2020, Lotus Stage, Panama. Morning into noon, last Saturday of the gathering. 🌴

This festival became known as The Last Festival On Earth – for good reason. It started end of February 2020, before COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. By the time it ended in mid-March, the world was already in lockdown. Those of us still there were forcibly quarantined at the location for an extra week – most flights cancelled, no clear way home. It took me three days to reach Romania, where I was quarantined alone for another three weeks.

Trapped on a Caribbean beach with a few thousand strangers turned friends, dancing between uncertainty and magic. Unforgettable in a way that couldn't have been planned.

The festival itself is extraordinary even without the pandemic context: two weeks long, multiple stages, cabaret, circus, theater, ceremonies, yoga, indigenous practices – all on a beach at the Caribbean Sea with coconut trees and jungle. I played two sets: one night and this one, morning-noon at the Lotus (main psytrance) stage.

The music reflects the moment: a mixture of modern groovy rhythms with old school vibes, atmospheric and psychedelic, built for daytime dancing. 143 BPM.

Studio mix recorded in 2008 for Tranceload – Atma was hosting a show and asked for something more melodic. 🌌

I'd been experimenting a lot at the time but had never recorded a dedicated goa trance set. This was the chance. The approach: go old school, go deep, let the 303 acid leads do what they do best.

The result is a hypnotic mix driven by classic acid lines, deep grooves, and the kind of psychedelic textures that defined the late 90s and early 2000s goa sound. A mixture of different moods – but always hypnotic, always deep. 142 BPM throughout.

DJ set from Trance Orient Express party @ Ruigoord Church, Amsterdam, October 26, 2019. ⛪

Ruigoord is a former village evacuated in the 1960s by the Amsterdam municipality, squatted by artists in 1972, and legalized since. The old Roman Catholic church at its center has been hosting events ever since – from poetry festivals to techno and psy parties, through its long connection to the hippie-goa trance movement. There is nowhere quite like it.

My second time playing here. The crowd was one of the most diverse I've encountered: old hippies who are a local fixture, goa-heads and psy-freaks, young people discovering this music for the first time, mature adults you'd expect in a concert hall, street style crews – all sharing one thing: the appetite to dance. Unity in diversity, in practice.

There were a lot of true connoisseurs in the room that night. I could tell from the conversations and the feedback. Something about Ruigoord brings out that quality of audience.

The set moves from groovy in the first hour to more psychedelic in the second. 144 to 148 BPM.

Recorded DJ set – Waldfrieden Wonderland Festival 2019, main stage, Germany. Beginning of the night. 🌳

A festival at the edge of a forest, full of colors and psychedelic art – they know exactly how to use the trees and lights together. Up to 10,000 people on site, a crowd of a few thousand already on the floor when I started, and an electric atmosphere from the first beat.

The set runs 2 hours 30 minutes – I thought I had 90 minutes on the schedule, so the extra time was a surprise for me too. I used it well.

Structure: the first hour is groovy and building, the middle deliberately breaks the pattern – I like doing that, creating a moment of disruption before the floor commits fully – then the last part goes purely psychedelic, pushing up to 149 BPM. Starts at 145.

Recorded forest psytrance DJ set – Elysium Island Festival 2019, Serbia. 🏝️

Elysium is one of the hidden gems of the European festival season: an intimate gathering on a sandy, forested island in the middle of the Danube river. The kind of place where the setting does half the work – water on all sides, forest overhead, sound system in the trees.

Fractaliceanu is my darker, faster alter-ego – the side that goes deeper into forest and dark psytrance territory than Latam typically does. This mix goes from 148 to 151 BPM.

Recorded DJ set – Waha Festival 2019, Psy Stage, Transylvania, Romania. Closing night. 🌑

Waha is set in forested hills in a remote wild area of Transylvania – for years the most important underground and alternative gathering in Romania. The kind of festival that doesn't announce itself loudly but that people who know, know.

I played the closing night after Tsuyoshi Suzuki, which set the frame: start with something acidic and hypnotic, matching the energy left on the floor, then let it evolve. The set gets progressively more psychedelic as it moves forward – groovy and tech-edged in places, deeper in others, twisted toward the end. 143 to 147 BPM.
