The track on this tape that best describes South Lorain (Cleveland), Ohio would have 2 be Roger Troutman & Zapp 'Dancefloor'. That was a stomper & heard throughout our little town outside of Cleveland.

But back 2 tha man at hand, Scott takes us everywhere from uptown 2 downtown & through a couple curves. 10-!0-!0 score on this mixtape & DJ.

Here'z yet another rare & raw mixtape of my brother Royce Cheongsheem who was David Mancuso's right hand man. I said this story b4 but it's worth telling again. 1 day I called Royce & he was like, Manny... let me call you back... David is looking 4 some records 4 thee next Loft party. I was like David in David Mancuso? He was like yes... with that you pretty much can get an idea of what kind of record collection Royce had 2 have thee legendary David Mancuso going through his records 4 his Loft Party selections.

In any case, David was always kind 2 let Royce open 4 him while the crowd came through.

Royce like David didn't mix records, he simply selected them & started a vibe 4 the night. This tape is a sample of what He would play.

Unfortunately Royce is no longer with us in flesh, but 100% with us in Spirit through these tapes he left behind... & trust me he left a lot behind as he spoiled me with so many mixtapes from the Loft & other private parties in NYC.

I hope you can feel my brother Royce's Spirit through his little time capsule on this tape.

Especially thee electro stuff & tha funk as well.

Here Farley 'Funkin' Keith, before he became the JackMaster, displays the music in a collage of musical styles & taking his listeners on a musical journey. Man I miss those dayz!!

Let'z roll back 2 tha year I graduated High School, 1983'. What was being played where I lived in South Lorain (Cleveland) Ohio & what was being played in Chicago Radio was totally different. And Cleveland was only a few hours away from Chicago & not 2 mention Detroit & NYC. Yet in Cleveland played a lot of Funk & NY Electro compared 2 what Chicago was playing, mainly Italian imports & HiNrg Disco & home made beat trax from early drum machines. Times have surely changed... But let'z get back 2 the matter at hand. We got this dope tape from Kenny "Jammin" Jason who was my favorite DJ out of Chicago, that being Farley "JackMaster" Funk'z, & Kenny was his mentor. That sayz a lot 4 me. With all that being said...

Wow!!! I can't believe I found this mixtape of DJ Cochise Collier live on the Dean Rufus Club Style Show on Cleveland'z 108 FM WDMT. DJ Cochise 2 us was like Detroit'z The Wizard & Dean Rufus was like our Electrifying Mojo on WJLB or Chicago'z Armando & The Hot Mix 5 & Cochise being our Farley "JackMaster" Funk. When we saw the schedule of the DJ lineup 4 the following month on Dean Rufus Club style show & we would see Cochise on a certain date, trust, every1 stayed home 2 record & 4get about hitting tha clubs lol!! Seriously though.

I hope 2 find more of The Dean Rufus Club Style Showz soon 2 share... trust, We had our own thang in Cleveland... On top of being thee Funk & Rock & Roll capital of the world.

1 more thing, peep Cochise rapping live on tha mic while rocking tha tablez... This was when b4 they called Rap Music 2 now Hip Hop.

Let'z roll back to the year I graduated High School, 1983'. What Cleveland (South Lorain) Clubs was playing compared to just 5 hours away in Chicago was a HUGE difference. Cleveland at this point was playing a lot of Funk Music, NYC Electro, NYC Rap & that Minneapolis Sound. Compared to what Chicago Clubs was playing, more on the Deep House & Deep Disco.

The Gay Clubs in Cleveland were more into that HiNrG Disco with DJ's like Eddie Benson @ Tracks Disco & Chicago had Frankie & Ronnie playing more of that Deep Disco,Italian Disco over beat trax. All in all I love both styles.

Let'z roll back 2 the year of 1983... A year I remember well since it being the yr I graduated High School in South Lorian, (Cleveland) Ohio. But this is what was happening to the left of Cleveland in the city of Chicago. The man here was Ron Hardy, the club was thee Muzic Box. A man who also influenced me as DJ/Re-editor/Remixer/producer. Not to mention a man who played his music with NO RULES as a dj should play no matter what!!

A lot of Deep House classics here & raw beat tracks that later became House Music.

4 You REAL CHICAGO HOUSE-HEADZ WILL DEFINATELY APPRECIATE!!
