Well after qualifying and ALLLLL the red flags you could possibly want, we hoped for more of the same with some wheel to wheel and wheel to wall racing but ultimately could have been better! a C on the report card today "must do better!"

A podium that will bring a smile and an OK race but not the banger we had hoped for but the implications to the championship are huge, for both Red Bull and Merc! Will they both look back on this race and wonder what if? With the battle for 3rd between Ferrari and McLaren looking like a season long affair simmering away with todays highs and lows for the drivers up and down the grid.

From the track that brought you such hits as “ Two wheels on his wagon (ft. F Alonso)”, “Danny is gonna smash your back door in!” and who can forget “Loosing my position” by R Grosian! We knew this was gonna be The Barry R show today in qualifying!

It lived up to its billing with 4 red flags, along with some drivers throwing themselves on their swords to provide tows to their team mates! This session had it all and easily the best so far this season. Premature ends to Q2 and Q3 meant some did not get that crucial last lap in to improve their grid slot.

With a top ten that does not disappoint, we can now look forward to an exciting race day and count our lucky stars the we didn’t have to run a second race at Monaco!

ZZZZZZzzzzz..... The Jewel in the crown needs some polishing, again we lost a potential classic !!! off track over takes and not much more to say. Monaco will always be on the calendar but it didn't offer up much today.

However results have bolstered the positions of Red Bull and with the wind in their sails can they now take the fight to a Mercedes team that have taken a hit today? or have they just poked the bear with a pointy stick? Baku in 2 weeks time, we will see.

We look at the possibility of an interesting race tomorrow, a mixed up grid and not a hint of a suggestion that Leclerc hit the barrier on purpose unless you talk to Derek! Crashgate 2 ???

The weekend feels like make or break for Red Bull with an incredible chance to close the gap on Lewis but WE NEVER WRITE HIM OFF! Or can Bottas show us what he's got on a track that he never goes well at and shine finally getting his season started.

Expect safety cars (Mazispin were looking at you!) some cunning Black Adderesk strategy and hopefully a race that we can not call a snooze fest.

A qualifying to forget for some but an absolutely banging top 10, this season seems to get better and better as the margins become so small 1000th's of a second dropping some out of the top ten and performances starting to show from teams with new parts bolted on to the cars.
