Very much mixed fortunes for the teams, the Merc/Aston issues great running from the Honda teams really stoking the fires of a possible championship battle that we have not had in realistically 10 years! So we all hope!

Great running from most of the other 6 midfield teams, Mclaren with the most exciting line up on the grid, the return of Alonso who was metronomic on track and it really is a pleasure to have him back in Formula 1!

However testing always carries the disclaimer of take everything with a pinch of salt, fuel loads engine modes and good old sandbagging are all at play! But first blood Red Bull.

In Part 2 we look at each team and discuss how they will do this season.

Our hopes of a Williams finishing in the points, a mid field battle that's going to encompass 6 teams and not 3 as Ferrari look to get some traction in the championship but may be up a giants a brick wall with McLaren, Aston Martin and Alpine all looking to make gains.

We may have a better picture after testing but we also know how testing can throw up some false positives with teams sandbagging or trying to hide true performance till the first race of the season.

Welcome to F1 2021, not the new dawn we all hoped for but we ALL hope that we get a closer season than 2020.

With a 23 race calendar planned our fingers are crossed that we get the full season.

With or without crowds the 2021 season will take place but we do expect some bumps along the road, no one knows if we will have 23 races but we will def have 16-18 money will dictate that! as Liberty Media and Formula 1 intend not to be stopped.

As the season comes to an end what kind of race did Abu Dhabi give us….? In a season that with a lot of new tracks that have on the whole given us a thrill, with an interesting race some great over takes and drives to be remembered for all the right reasons!

However we also come to a few tracks that do the complete opposite that leave us wondering what the hell are we wasting our time for really! We know its not the drivers! Maybe the cars and the lack of parity (ok maybe a lot of that Merc to Williams) amongst the teams, but the over riding factor is the TRACK!

Last race of the season and everyone is pulling out all the stops, the track didn’t evolve as hoped but the top 10 has so much to fight for. Can Perez fight his way from the rear of the grid and how can the Ferraris finish this year to forget for them?

Starting on Mediums and 1 stop strategy will be the most likely route but we do have a few starting on softs that will charge for the first few laps.

Hamilton is Back!! But how quick will he get back up to speed?

Engine changes and fires for others this weekend will finally settle the battle for 3rd in the constructors but Perez has to start from last along with Mag, can he go from last to the win this weekend again??

George Russell! What a drive a Mercedes driver of the future, but will it be Bottas ( probably after another lack lustre performance from the Fin!) or Lewis IF( one of those if’s you would not put your mortgage on btw) he does not extend his contract with Merc. We will wait and see but come 2022 he will be in one of those cars.

Accidents and Merc making an utter pigs ear of pitstops gifted the win to the midfield charges with a fresh podium and win for Perez with his drive from the back of the grid being the highlight of the season for a driver without a seat for 2021 it’s incredible, however as Perez looks more and more like the kind of person Red Bull would love in the other car Albon has shown nothing to even vaguely claim the seat, the next 3 weeks will reveal all.

A fast and furious qualifying, with such a short lap the times are the closest they have ever been over the field. Russell standing in for the C19 struck Hamilton showing why he is the future of the Merc’s driver program with only 0.026 between their drivers and outstanding performance from Russell considering the time spent in the car.

The midfield battle rages on with a driver from each of the 3 teams being out of position, however the out to prove something Perez, the fast charging Ricciardo and the Ferrari bound Carlos Sainz all in great position to take advantage of any slip-ups!
