God confronts His people for showing Him contempt by offering defiled sacrifices and giving Him their leftovers instead of their best, revealing a lack of honor and respect for Him even though He is their Father and Master. Their actions show they treat worldly authorities with more regard than they treat God, while still expecting His favor. True devotion, however, is not merely about offerings but about loving God with all our heart, soul, and mind, which is demonstrated through obedience to His commands. When believers serve God halfheartedly or neglect the calling He has given them, they reflect the same contempt Israel showed, but honoring God means giving Him our wholehearted love, obedience, and our very best in every area of life.
