  • 3 Reasons Complaints Are Good For Business

    Send us a text

Most businesses only hear from about 4% of unhappy customers. That means the vast majority of people just walk away silently. So if you’re smart, you’ll make it easy for people to complain. Because every complaint you get isn’t a problem—it’s an opportunity to grow.

  • How to Build a Highly Motivated Team

When your team feels empowered to make decisions—and knows you’ll back them—they gain confidence. They stop waiting for direction. They start taking ownership.

And for you? That means less firefighting, more leading.

It’s nothing to do with luck, just thinking and working smart with your team.

  • Employ People Who Think

    Send us a text

Traditional management styles rarely encourage employees to think for themselves. That was true when I started work in the “bad old days,” and it’s still alive in many organisations today.

I see it often: the culture of “I’m the boss, I tell you what to do, and you don’t question it.”

But the best managers don’t operate that way. They hire people who think. They look for individuals with their own ideas—people who ask questions, challenge assumptions, and push for better ways of doing things.

  • Dump The Jargon

    Send us a text

Want to know what can really frustrate your customers—or worse, make them feel stupid? It’s jargon. And this applies to both your external customers and the people you work with every day.

Jargon confuses, alienates, and often sounds patronising.

If your goal is to help people understand, use your product or service, come back for more, and maybe even recommend you to others—then ditch the buzzwords.

  • Don't Get Hooked by Difficult People

    Send us a text

Have you ever been fishing? I'm not a fan myself but I'm sure that you understand the basic principle. You attach a piece of bait to a hook and dangle in the water. What then happens is that some unsuspecting fish comes along, bites the bait, ends up on the hook, and you reel it in.

Of course, you're not a fish, but other people, difficult people, will try to get you on the line, they'll try to hook you.

This is stressful for you and potentially inhibits your ability to manage the difficult person.

Do not allow other people to choose your behaviour – ‘don’t get hooked!’

Do you like something for free or at a much lower cost than expected?

The answer has to be yes, most of us love a bargain.

But don’t you just get a little bit suspicious sometimes when presented with such great offers. ‘What’s the catch?’ is the question.

  • Forget about goals

    Send us a text

Many motivational speakers and self-help books will tell you that you must have goals. I’ve even advocated goal setting myself in the past.

You write down your goals and detail them for family life, friends, finances, career, recreation, health, learning, education and your spiritual life.

However, I've now come to the conclusion that successful people with strong self-belief don't do goal setting in this way - why? - Because their too busy doing what they need to do to get what they want to get.
