To celebrate the 20th episode of the podcast, we thought we'd examine one of the most classic (and controversial) conspiracies... The myth of the flat earth. Ask anyone off the street what comes to mind when they think of conspiracy theories, and there's a good chance that they'll reference the infamous Flat Earth Society, as its been subject to intense media scrutiny in recent years. Given the countless years of scientific discoveries that have led to unequivocal proof that the Earth is spherical, how can anyone seriously believe that we exist atop a flat disc, surrounded by a wall of impenetrable ice?  

In this episode, John kicks the podcast off by breaking down exactly what belief in flat earth entails. There are many facets to this conspiracy theory, some of which the flat earth community cannot agree on, but they seem to have an answer for every criticism thrown their way. Given how ridiculous the idea of a flat earth seems, Calum explores the idea that the Flat Earth Society was concocted by the CIA, acting as a psy-op to discredit the wider conspiracy movement. After all, they do have a very professional looking logo! Finally, in a podcast full of preposterous ideas, Luke brings things back down to Earth by introducing the conspiracy that Australia is actually a made-up country. Did the British ships that contained the prisoners who were believed to have landed on Australia really fall off the edge of the flat earth?
