  • Ep.16 Moving through phases of training - DTP

    Okay, guys!
Time to get down to business. Having been in the dog training world for a while, Brent and Mariano have noticed something that is quite common among newer trainers. That is that they can be very competent in their understandings of each and every individual module that training dogs must learn. Yet despite this, they can often suffer from lack of understanding of exactly when or how they can progress the dog further into its training program. Moving a dog through its phases of training is something that varies so much from dog to dog. It can be difficult to put into words exactly what an experienced trainer looks for when deciding whether or not to push the dog further. that's where we come in! Come join us as we discuss the phases of dog training, their individual intricacies, and what we look for when deciding to move from one to the next. Thanks for listening!

  • Ep.10 Why dog training is important - DTP

Hi everyone, Mariano and Brent here! We are excited to bring you a very special episode of the Dog Trainer's Podcast. We want to answer the big question that people have been asking online. Why is dog training important? There's no quick and easy answer. Especially when painted in the light of all our current situations. Rescues and shelters are being completely shut down. People have been stepping up to help these animals who need to be placed or face euthanasia. It's heartwarming to hear about all of those who are willing to help however they can. As dog trainers, it's our job to help these people on their mission to save as many lives as possible. This is no easy task! So we've decided to enlist the help of our good friend and excellent dog trainer, Corey Chavez. Together, the three of us tackle the serious task of trying to explain just how invaluable it can be to train your rescue dog. We would link to thank Corey for his help. We would like to thank all of those who are stepping up to help these animals in need. And we would like to thank you for listening!

  • Ep. 7 Why Dog Training Is Important - DTP

Why is dog training important? This is a question that is asked quite a bit maybe because owners can have a hard time understanding how teaching obedience commands can transform a dog over time. Maybe because training programs in the past haven't properly explained the "WHY" behind it all. Maybe knowing "WHY" can really help the "HOW". We believe that understanding why it is important is critical to our ultimate goal which is to help as many dogs and owners as we can. But every journey begins with a first step and this is ours. Stay tuned as we discuss why dog training can be so much more powerful and helpful than you might think. Not only for the owner but four the dog as well. Training does wonders to build deeper connections between dogs and owners which ultimately leads to a richer relationship between them. It's so much more than just teaching a dog to sit and stay. Stick around as we explain why. Thanks for listening!
