Hello everyone! And welcome to DogEared Book Club.
In general, I am very open and honest about my mental health and wellbeing.
Sometimes, it's really hard to "keep up," and there will be days when I feel remarkable unmotivated, down and distant from myself. I want you guys to know that I will always and only create content that rings true to my heart, my truth and to the purpose of DogEared.
On this episode, I will share books that I have read and books that I am looking forward to reading that focus on Mental Health. These range from magical, to practical, to technical, to just what we've been craving. I hope you enjoy.

Hello HELLO! And Welcome to DogEared Book Club and the very first, BOOKISH SERIES. In this podcast series, I will sit down with amazing peeps that run really remarkable "bookstagram" accounts. The goal is to really connect you guys to this incredible and niche community of book influencers, but also to listen to bookworm discussions that are so ridiculous, and satisfying, you're going to be like, wow I get you OR, wow you are WEIRD.
These women/men/they/everyone and anyone that I will connect with, have been people I have followed for quite some time and have admired from afar. Thank god, when I decided to DM @bookishashton, she was equally as enthused and quirky as I am!!
I am so, so over the moon to introduce you guys to this book community that I have become apart of. Ashton is from Nevada and is an absolute muse of the shadows. Her account is so creative, present, feminine and really authentic. Her page has inspired me since day 1 and her personality is A+ weirdo, which is me and fills my soul.
I hope you guys enjoy our incredibly nerdy discussion as we drop tea on book peeves, book habits, our favorite qualities about literature and physical books, dropping some opinion tea over authorship and dedicating this pod to our moms.. because we're obsessed.
Anyways! Check out her page on IG (@bookishashton) and look out for her IG take over on my IG page, and her INSANE booklist. Full booklist will be available to members and partial will be available to non-members.
Love you guys!!!

Marina and I dive right into the good stuff. It was easy because we both love, love books (and anyone you meet on this podcast does… of course). I go on asking her the classic DogEar starter questions. I also make sure to tap into her author experience. She said something really, really fascinating that made me think about how easy it is to fall into familiar ways of coping with anxiety and stress.
I asked her, “What was a lesson from your author experience that applies to your everyday life?”
Her response was along the lines of, “I found out that I couldn’t ‘athletic’ my way out of it. Writing a book is all mental. I can’t go for a run or workout to make it any better. I just have to sit down and write.’
Honestly, I think that is so freakin’ insightful. This experience can translate to so many things. For me, it would translate to sitting on my pillow and meditating. You can’t always ‘mantra’ your way out of difficult times. You just have to take action. You just gotta do it.
I hope you get to know Marina, check out her book on Amazon in paperback, kindle or in any local Orange County bookstore. Make sure to follow her on Instagram at @marinapaul and stay tuned for her SPRHRA launch in January 2022.
