Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans!
For this week’s episode, the boys kick things off by talking about how Summer Walker’s debut album ‘Over It’ has surpassed Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ to be the most streamed album of all time by a female R&B artist. Sope & Nic debate about how this has come to be, breaking down the reasons why she has had such a strong breakthrough. Next up, it has been announced that Ben Cook, the president of Atlantic Records UK has been forced to step down after claims that he dressed up in blackface has resurfaced. Fredo was suspiciously and randomly arrested not long after flashing over £50k on Snapchat. Eden uses this story to frame Fredo as a cautionary tale to UK rappers who are being watched and are under surveillance by the police. Rounding off the episode is the latest chapter in the ongoing saga surrounding Lizzo’s hit song ‘Truth Hurts’. It has now come to light that two producers who worked on the demo that would eventually become the hit song are yet to be paid for their contributions. While also confirming that Mina Lioness’ viral tweet was indeed cited as inspiration for its most infamous line.
