Opening the news section, Nic exhaustively and comprehensively runs through the highlights of comments from Kanye’s recent promo run for new album ‘Jesus Is King’ (00:23:28). T.I. and Iggy Azalea have recently been engaging in a war of words on social media following T.I.’s verbally regretting that Iggy was a blunder in the trajectory of his career as a music executive (00:42:30). Rounding off the episode, the boys bring back ‘Groupchat Convos’ where Sope and Eden in a series of rants with no structure break down the many reasons why they think Ciara’s career didn’t reach the same heights Rihanna’s did (00:47:27).

For this week’s episode, Nic and Eden kick things off by speaking on the huge breakthrough that recently arose in the long-running saga around Lizzo’s ‘Truth Hurts’. Mina Lioness at long last has been granted a writer’s credit on the hit single, leaving the boys to consider whether this will finally put a lid on the matter. Rihanna was at the mercy of rabid stan culture when the Navy attacked her for featuring a Chris Brown song in a promo video for one of her Fenty products.  Next up, the boys debate claims that Cardi B has opened more doors for female rap in recent years, breaking down the complexities of her rants. Drill rapper Rico Racks has been sentenced to jail and has been banned from using certain words/phrases in his music, sparking another discussion about the surveillance and censorship of black artists. Questioning why the government aren’t tackling the issues that lead to the creation of such genres. Closing out the episode is Tank’s controversial comments about men and gay oral sex. Sope leads the discussion speaking out against the double standards that plague black men not having the freedom to explore and experiment with their sexualities in the way women and white men do.

For this week’s episode, the boys kick things off by talking about the “death” of the iTunes app as Apple has announced that they are set to render the app obsolete effective immediately. As the in-house tech expert of the trio, Eden takes the reins on explaining why this has happened (00:16:19). Drake is in hot water again as his father claims that Drake has allegedly been exaggerating an “absentee father” narrative in his music just to sell records (00:21:48). After a year behind bars, City Girls’ JT has finally been freed from jail. Nic and Sope discuss how the City Girls will fare going forward now that the full team is back together, declaring that their next moves will be make or break for them (00:31:27). Next up, the boys pick apart the winners and nominees from the 2019 Hip Hop Awards, hilariously questioning the relevance and need for some of the categories (00:36:10). Amongst this, Sope randomly shares an impromptu review of the movie ‘Hustlers’, particularly honing in on Lizzo’s appearance (00:54:30). Concluding the episode is an impassioned speech from Nic reprimanding the journalist who showed up unprepared for her Vogue Cover Story interview with Rihanna. Remarking how it is a slap into the face of journalists/writers who would kill to have such an opportunity (01:14:16).

For this week’s episode, the boys are joined by Steph Achigbu, Marketing Manager at Disturbing LDN. Beginning on a sombre note, Sope pays a #RespectingLegends tribute to the trailblazing Diahann Carroll who passed away last week. During the listens section, a lengthy tangent ensues as the directions of Chris Brown’s and H.E.R’s careers are critically examined with Steph and the boys attempting to make sense of their recent moves. Moving onto the news topics, it has been announced that a celebrity edition of the X-Factor will be coming to TV screens with the likes of Love Island contestants and actors from Coronation Street competing for a recording contract. Next up, it has been rumoured that Skepta and Adele have been dating. Steph and the boys hilariously question the validity of this union and whether it will last. Rounding off the news is the worrying comments made by J-Hus on social media indicating he might be suicidal. Eden leads an impassioned comments on the many pressures artists face from their family, friends, fans and in J-Hus’ case; gang-related rivals and how this can be detrimental to one’s mental health. Concluding the episode is a enlightening and educational interview with Steph. She speaks about her experience working in the music industry in a range of roles that have included marketing, PR and playlist curation. While also commenting on the importance of black people in these spaces needing to humanise themselves and make their knowledge accessible.

After an unintentional hiatus due to technical difficulties, Sope, Nic and Eden are back to deliver another entertaining episode. A #RespectingLegends celebration of Brandy kicks off this week’s proceedings as Sope highlights the 25th anniversary of Brandy’s self-titled album and her vast influence on modern R&B music. Opening the news section is the announcement that the Brit Awards will potentially axe gendered categories for their 2021 ceremony onwards to accommodate non-binary artists like Sam Smith who has now decided to be referred to be they/them. The fallout from Lizzo accusing a Postmates employee of stealing her food continues as it comes out that the employee in question is now fearing for her life and is afraid to leave her house. Eden proceeds to put her blast claiming that she has a penchant to work against black women. Remy Ma is once again in hot water for being a rape apologist and patriarchal princess after likening rape victims who accept compensation to prostitutes. Rounding out the episode is the news that Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will be headlining the Superbowl Halftime Show in 2020.
