Chef, entrepreneur, designer, public speaker — Manolo López is all those things. But this 30-year-old Puerto Rican describes himself as an unofficial ambassador for his island, a role he embodied as founder of his popular Mofon•GO food stand and operator of roving cultural showcase Cosa Nuestra, and then as the community leader who shut it all down to help with relief efforts on the island after Hurricane Maria struck. So what’s his next move? Listen to hear his recipe for success, and life. Special thanks to José Alfaro, recording guru at Acast; Nicole Rothwell, editor extraordinaire; Connor Button, theme music creator; and WKNY Radio Kingston, our kind host on the airwaves. We speak with Puerto Rican journalist Luis Trelles about his deep investigation into the discrepancies in the official death count in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, and the underreported reality of what happened to people living in nursing homes.

Artificial intelligence isn't replacing anyone's job in education just yet, says Santiago Iñiguez, president of IE University, one of Europe's most high-profile schools. Iñiguez helped organize a gathering at Brown University to talk about all things higher education, including the looming effects of AI and automation. Three takeaways: lifelong learning will take on new meaning as the population ages; technology will humanize the college experience; and...you'll just have to listen to the episode to find out. Plus, we ask why college tuition is so high. Special thanks to Warren Lawrence, who operated the control room; Nicole Rothwell, who edited this episode; Connor Button, who created our theme music; and Radio Kingston, for opening its studio and airwaves to us and our robots.
Children, some as young as 5 years old, live at a garbage dumpsite on the Philippine island of Mindanao. When the rooster crows, they show up at the dump to work, gathering items to sell. But they're children, and they still laugh and play, making kites from plastic they find in the waste. Don’t Interrupt Me, Por Favor co-host Guillermo Fesser and his brother Javier visited the island for three weeks to make a short film about child poverty for Action Against Hunger, a global nonprofit. The Fessers’ forthcoming film shares the spirit of "Binta and the Great Idea" and “Welcome," Javier’s previous short films about kids dealing with adversity. Special thanks to Nicole Rothwell, who edited this episode; Connor Button, who created our theme music; and Radio Kingston for giving us cool sweatshirts.
