(age/sex/location), to MySpace (it's still a thing, you might be able to find your old page!), and the current 'too many to name' choices, it's still a thing and it's not going anywhere. Social media has it's flaws and downsides, but it can have some good too. Today we look at our own histories with early (and current) social medias and discuss how to guide our kids through the twisty turny world of current apps and make sure they stay safe while using them. Today we go back to the 80s and 90s and reminisce about a time when cartoons were actually good. OK, maybe cartoons aren't that bad now, but we're looking at them through the eyes of a generation they aren't meant for. But seriously...they do kind of suck right? As we discovered, Erin actually did stuff as a kid, like played outside. Happy Valentine's Day! For today's topic we thought we'd get a little more risque and naughty. Taking time for ourselves shouldn't be something we feel guilty about. We as parents deserve to take time to recharge, have alone time, and enjoy an activity that takes our minds off of our daily lives. Self-care is different for everyone. Whether you have a bubble bath with a glass of wine, splurge on a mani/pedi, go for a walk, or learn a new skill, if you're disconnecting from your daily to-do list, then it counts. If it's a chore, it's not self care, if it's enjoyable and you look forward to the activity, then maybe that's your self-care. Maybe this podcast is your self care! Today we're taking a step back from our usual episode format to talk about mental health. Everyone has mental health, just like everyone has physical health, but there's a difference between being able to maintain good mental health and when things start to slip and you experience poor mental health more often. Everyone struggles with mental health issues, but if these issues persist, it's important to talk about it and seek help if necessary. In today's episode we'll be alternating between a discussion question, statistics (all information is from the Canadian Mental Health Association website), and a personal story sent in by listeners. We hope that by us talking about mental health issues and mental illness, it'll help someone who may be listening. Remember, if you are struggling with mental health issues, you are not alone. There are people out there who will listen and provide help. We hope you find this episode informative and helpful.
