This podcast episode talks about the meaning of “do not settle” -- asking for what you want in English.
Gabby shares her experiences as she travels from one country to another. Travelling is like living your life, it comes with challenges. It is up to you if you’ll give up or stand up and face them. When things get rough, be creative, do not settle.
In the past few days Gabby had some opportunities to not settle. She shared her experience in Changi Airport in Singapore wherein she had to get her boarding pass earlier than scheduled. At first, people at the airport do not want to agree with her, but because she doesn’t want to settle she asked them over and over again in a nice way and succeed.
In relation with the English language learning, she is telling every English learner to not settle with what the teachers are teaching them. If it is necessary to ask for more feedback or more activities to do, more help, then do so.
Do not be afraid of asking questions and asking for help if you feel like you need them. Ask if you have doubts regarding the lesson. Don’t just wait, act. Get out of the box and be unique. Do it your own way and be independent.
Make the English language part of your daily life. Practice and apply what you learn more often and you will see your improvements immediately.
