In February of 2020 Andrew Brant was literally beside the tracks at Wyman Road on unceded Mohawk Territory independently reporting on events when Canada was crippled by Indigenous Sovereignty. The news of this event had spread worldwide, and all commonwealth countries immediately took note. This interview from KOORI97.3FM in between Andrew Brant and The Navigators host Tane Johnson was only one of the first international interviews. Below is the description they posted to social media:
"Andrew Brant is a Mohawk Warrior who is active in his community in many ways and has been part of the railway protests in Canada that have sprung up in the last month.
The railway protests are a peaceful act of solidarity with the Wet'suwet'en people who are peacefully protesting the Trans Canada Corporation's 4.7 billion dollar natural gas pipeline that will run through their lands.
We spoke about the history of the Mohawk people, the treatment of First Nations people in Canada on a daily basis, the cultural and environmental issues surrounding the pipeline, the false reports of the media covering the protests and about what YOU! can do to support our First Nations brothers and sisters fighting on the ground."
