Doopy Brothers Podcast

Lancaster, Pa. designer recently returned to the club he interned with in college, Reading United, to help with their logo refresh for their 25th season, which has been postponed until 2021 with the cancelation of the 2020 USL League Two regular season.

In this episode, we brought on the boss, Matt Ralph, to talk about the fictional '96 Philly MLS team, The Ringers. Matt shares the origins of the idea and we all share how we contributed to the project (spoiler alert: Matt did most of it). In the second half, we get draft crazy and do multiple drafts in honor of the NFL draft which kicked off during our recording. What idiots we are for recording during the first real sports night in months. Enjoy!

In this episode we got to chat with our good friend, Jared Nisly! Jared went on a trip earlier this year that sounded like any soccer fan's dream vacation. His trip took him around Europe to see some of the biggest teams and stadiums, and he impressively had very few missteps. He was fortunate enough to make this trip before the pandemic outbreak so it was fun to sit back and hear about a trip that feels like it took place a lifetime ago given the current travel and sports situation.

Another goofy remote podcast to help distract while we stay in quarantine. We share what we've been up to and have some fun discussing Union cult rushmore candidates as well as each pick an 11 from only American Union players. In the second half, we have a really exciting pair of interviews with some exclusive guests. Enjoy, stay safe, and stay home.

For this episode, we were fortunate enough to get on a call with Anthony Fontana for an interview. Since soccer is still postponed, we got to ask Anthony about non-soccer questions as well as soccer related ones to give listeners a fun view at the super talented homegrown midlfielder. Anthony has a great personality and was a great sport when we gave him some... unusual questions.

Thanks to Matt Ralph and the Philadelphia Union for organizing our interview with Anthony!

Stay safe and stay home.

Now that MLS, along with all other sports, have come to a standstill, we try to figure out what to do as Union fans in this unprecedented time. While we are unsure what will happen with this season, we go over possible options for how to adjust to the lost time when the season hopefully returns. Other segments include building a roster for the 2022 season, grading overall MLS soccer experiences by team, and... leprechaun power rankings? We try to have as much fun as possible to give our listeners a silly distraction from everything that is happening right now.

Enjoy, stay safe, and stay home.

We didn't expect much when we stayed up til 11 to watch the Union play against arguable the best team in the league, but we still did it anyway. And, boy, did the Union make it worth it. Golazo after golazo, the 3-3 tie with LAFC created one of the most thrilling and memorable games we've ever seen the Union play. Jakob Glesnes stole the show with an impossible rip from about 40 yards out and nearly all Union players produced high quality performances. We also get into some concerns we had, the US Olympic roster and how it affects the home opener, as well as predictions for the game against San Jose.

In the first of a new series of podcasts exploring soccer in Chester, we chatted with founder and recent Swarthmore grad Omri Gal, Philadelphia Union midfielder and mentor Warren Creavalle and students in the after school design program at Stetser Elementary School in Chester called Design FC.

Special thanks to all of the students, program and school staff who helped with this episode and Union PA announcer Kevin Casey for providing a sound bite introducing Warren Creavalle.

Programming Note: Since the recording of this podcast, Brendan Grady took a head coaching job at Juniata College and stepped down as Chester Upland Youth Soccer executive director. Jeannine Fallon Anckaitis was named the new executive director.

A disappointing start to the season, the Union fell to FC Dallas 2-0 in Frisco. While showing glimpses of quality, it was a "rusty" performance by the boys in blue. We discuss our takeaways as well as who we thought did/didn't do well in our Union Best Union Worst segment and go through some "hot takes" that might have stemmed from the game and if any are valid.

In the second half, we discuss the implications of Bedoya's lack of DP tag and start some probably meaningless speculation. With LAFC next on the schedule, we preview that match up with predictions from a "celebrity" to compete with our own. Plus we create our own 5v5 rosters using LAFC owner Will Ferrell's characters only.

It's officially an MLS match week and we couldn't be more excited. We got our boss and brotherlygame.com Managing Editor, Matt Ralph to get everyone prepared for the 2020 season and Week 1 against FC Dallas. Matt has an extensive knowledge of the Union and MLS and shared his insights on the team going into this season.

In the second half we got to talk to Tutul and Neetol Rahman, the brothers who created the amazing podcast, 25 Stories That Made MLS. Their podcast shares the biggest stories and events that led to what MLS is today and most recently shared an episode about the homegrown rule and academy systems. The Union, being one of the top in this category, got discussed by them so we felt like it was a great opportunity to have them on and discuss their work. They were a lot of fun to talk to and made one thing clear; brothers make the best podcasts.
