Hobbs is the best!

I have come to look forward to each new book! Wonderful fun !the inspector wins your heart the storylines are entertains and I always start reading or listening until quite finished. they just keep getting better!

Poor Andy Caplet has not lost his touch as he is still a bungling, unlucky and major sad sack. Hes been married for two years and suddenly finds himself promoted. That is the end of his good luck since his wife has left him, he has been accosted by a beautiful woman, had his photo taken in a compromising position, been shot in the butt, almost been run over and a tree fell on his apartment. Facing blackmail and nowhere to live he finds himself back at Hobbes and Mrs. Goodfellows home. And then the fun begins!

The Sly people lurk in the background until murder brings them out in the open. Hilarity ensues as Andy and Hobbes along with Dregs and Billy solve the crime. Andyreally is an accident waiting to happen, but he is fiercely loyal and somehow finds the strength ok, sorta to hold his own and be saved!

I love this series of audiobooks; they just keep getting better! Martin does an excellent job of weaving a fun, hearty tale mixed with a heavy dose of comedy and mystery into one highly entertaining series. Never a boring minute with Hobbes or Andy around!

The narrator, Tim Campbell, does an entertaining job of narrating the book. Campbell is Andy Caplet and Hobbes and Mrs. Goodfellow. Each character has their own voice and personality which Campbell captures and portrays unerringly.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook.

Listen to all four in three days. Amusing and made me laugh out loud . I reckon this might be the best so far.

Still funny, and still love any Pat McManus book.

So happy all of the Bo Tully books are here now. I read them once before but I'm super happy to have them on Audible now.

Disappointed in these books, loved his old ones

I have been repeatedly disappointed in McManus's Bo Tully series. His book,The Blight Way, was probably the best as it had an excellent narrator who brought the humor in the story to life. I can barely listen to the raspy voice of the current narrator who does not capture the stories characters or their humour. I can handle a bad narrator though if the story is good. Correction: if the story is good but is not filled end to end to with sexual innuendoes. I don't mind attraction between two single people, but the endless sexually implied comments and actions between Bo Tully and a married woman smacks of indecency and does not add an ounce to the type of story this is. We have laughed ourselves sick at Pat's earlier short story books- "Never Sniff A Gift Fish" etc... My 13 year old says he reads one of those stories every night before bed! However, the extent of the sexual and indecent insinuations in these books is to the point where I won't allow my kids to listen to them. A little bit is one thing. Especially in the bounds of a decent relationship. But when it is outright bordering on illicit relationships I draw the line. My respect for McManus and his writing has dropped which is really disappointing because he was a childhood "hero" to me and my friends and now he appears to be just a typical writer inflicted with the current obsession with sex. You write a great mystery, Mr. McManus- just leave out the extra stuff and you will have some serious winners again!!! #loveagoodoutdoorstorybellylaugh

One of the best Tully books

I have only gone through three of the Bo Tully books but this one was by far the funniest. One particular joke with Pap had me laughing so hard I almost had to pull over. You'll know it when you hear it.

Meg gets a toddler dumped on her

In Cockatiels at Seven by Donna Andrews, Meg and Michael have returned from their honeymoon and back to the real world. Just as Meg is getting started again in her blacksmithing work while Michael attends orientation at Caerphilly College where he teaches in the drama department, an acquaintance she hasnt seen in over a year, Karen, stops by with her toddler son and begs Meg to take care of Jimmy for just a short while. Then she proceeds to give Meg a whole notebook full of instructions on Jimmys care and numerous outfits of clothing and other supplies. But as the morning passes, Karen doesnt show up to pick up Jimmy. As the day grows longer, Meg begins to become alarmed and starts trying to locate Karen, whose phone keeps going to voice mail. By the next next morning, with still no response from Karen, Meg decides to go to Karens house to try to locate the missing mother, only to learn that Karen has moved out of her previous home and into the local projects. But when Meg arrives at Karens new home, she finds the police there. Karen is not there, but her ex-husband is, the victim of murder.

Meg spends the next few days sleuthing to try to locate Karen, which of course includes sleuthing into the murder of Jasper. The police seem uninterested in the missing mother, so Meg feels that she must do her part to get to the bottom of things, which include figuring out what potentially criminal activity Jasper might have been into. In the midst of her own work, Meg notices her father and newly-located grandfather sneaking around, and they keep bringing new animals into her home, and Meg is less than excited about the emerald tree boa who needs help with shedding. But suddenly cages of birds start showing up too. What are they up to?

This book, as with all of the Meg Langslow books, never ceases to delight. The wild activities that all the characters get into add to the fun, and as usual, the book concludes with a madcap ending facing down the murderer. I really enjoy the characters in this series, who are drawn very creatively and with great fun. Megs family comes across as so lively and makes you really want to meet them.

Loved it

This is a cute book. Madie is getting married. Her best friend Sienna is the wedding planner and one of her bridesmaids. When Madie's Grandmother insists one month before the wedding she must have her childhood nemesis cousins as brides adds this go sideways. Two weeks before the wedding missing paperwork cause the Four Seasons to cancel her wedding. How will they move forward with their happy day? This was a really cute book and shows how out of control brides can get and hoe their families add to the crazy.

I love it!

Funny and entertaining! It deals with family and family issues, what one does and does not do for family. It was also about standing up for oneself, for having the courage to say what needed to be said and do what needed to be done. My favorite excerpt from the book was:

'I'm sorry that happened to them. But how is that my fault?'

Wedding Haters

Wedding Haters is an entertaining chick lit / romantic comedy wedding themed story that will keep you in stitches!

In Wedding Haters, the second book of the Event To Remember series, author Melissa Baldwin weaves a sassy tale that follows the wedding planning trials and tribulations of bride Madison Wales. Told in the first person narrative, the reader follows Madison and her best friend and wedding planner Sienna Harris as Madison's perfect bridal plans are sabotaged by her meddling Grandmother and evil cousins Ellie and Stephy. Can Madison and Sienna save her wedding dreams and get it back on track, or should Madison and Cole go the easy route and elope?

This was such a fun and lighthearted book to read, it had a great mixture of family drama, humor, romance, and a touch of mystery that kept me engaged and laughing as I followed the unfolding of the craziness of Madison's wedding planning debacle. Anyone who has been down the wedding planning route can relate to the craziness of the event, and how the best laid plans can unexpectedly go awry, especially when meddling family members add their two cents in the mix. I loved the witty dialogue and dramatic interactions between the characters; the wonderful friendship between Madison, Sienna, and Abby; and her sweet romantic relationship with Cole.

The best kind of caper

OMG, OMG, I love this book. It's a fab mix of manly adventure in Baja, Mexico; wonderful language; humor; and, well, Hemmingway. It's begging to be made into a movie.

An enthralling escapade!

I picked up this book because I enjoy Eric Summer's easy and well enunciated narration, and the consistency with which he voices characters. He did not disappoint. I enjoyed all of the characters, the setting, and the details and dialog that were LEFT OUT, because I think that the taste that is given is enough.

Granny Smith

What did you love best about Granny Smith Investigates?

Granny follows in that long tradition of amateur detectives .Though an older woman, she is as different from the Christie character as one could be. Miss Marple was a prim and proper lady of her time and Granny is a pipe smoking, She does the grandmother things: baking cookies for sales and tending to her grandchildren.

Pipe Smoking, Metalhead Granny to the Rescue

This book is definitely not your typical mystery. First, Granny Smith, age 71 on the outside only, is not your prim and proper female detective like Miss Marple or Jessica Fletcher. Second, you do not typically giggle quite so much during most mysteries.

Many Kudos to G. M. Dobbs. You make the reader feel like they are an active part of the story that includes entertaining characters and the joys of small town living where everyone knows most of what everyone else is up to.

Well narrated by Fiona Thraille with well thought out and enjoyable character voices and excellent inflections and characterizations.

I would definitely read the next adventure of Granny Smith Investigates.

Rocking Granny

This book was fun. You gotta love a granny who references Motorhead and smokes a pipe. I love how she got her nickname, her curiosity, and denial about her son's sexuality. Read it and you won't be disappointed.

This book is very funny, it follows Kylie as she is called into see her boss. Kylie thought it's for a raise or promotion, but is somewhat different. The antics that follow are funny and poignant as she faces her past and tries to make sense of her future. I enjoyed this audiobook.

Totally crazy and entertaining fun

This book was highly entertaining. While I thought that the main character, Kylie, was a piece of work, the book was thoroughly entertaining. It was full of interesting characters and laugh out loud moments. While I can't imagine Kylie could ever change enough to be a more caring person, she does try. And, I loved the dynamic between her and her friend. The friend knew her and loved and accepted her for the flawed person she was. That's a friend.

This book is hard to describe without giving great things away. But, this is a full bodied book that will keep you engaged and entertained from beginning to end.

I'm a huge fan of Wendy Rich Stetson, which was why I jumped at the chance to try out this new author. Wendy did not disappoint, and I really like Ellyn Oaksmith's storytelling. I can't wait to see what's next.

I listened to this while painting and my husband kept asking what I was laughing about. Loved the story, the narrator was a bit flat but still wonderful!

Vikkis Musings

This is the first time I have read a book by this author, but it is not the first time I have listened to Wendy Rich Stetson. When she asked me to listen to 50 Acts of Kindness, I agreed, even though, the book is not my usual type of read. As always, Ms. Stetson delivers another stellar performance with this book.

The story:

While I struggled to like Kylie, her character did keep me on my toes and interested in what the next outlandish thing she would do. Underneath her tough exterior, I was able to find some redeeming characteristics.

I did like Chet, the sheriff, quite a lot. He has many qualities I enjoy in a hero. I also liked his determination to not give into lust, even though he found Kylie very attractive.

I was a bit put off by the period and time when Harry

Harrison wrote this work.It is old and the story line shows this.No modern gimmicks here.I value the author

very highly from his "The Stars and Stripes in Peril"

series which I read again at least every couple of years.Any thing to see the "poms" get a kick in the but.And that from an Aussie.Back to Victoria's

Revenge.Its a strange title and has little to do with the story and the main character is an anti hero type.Worth a read but only after you have exhausted all other books you have on your Kindle.Its cheap enough and I doubt you will want to keep it after reading.Reasonable 1960's espionage

Pleasant enough silly action pulp

Very pulp follow-up to `Montezuma's Revenge' - something I haven't read but I assume must have sold a few copies to inspire this sequel. Switch off your brain and step on board for a rather silly full on action ride. The baddies are more comical than dark and sinister, and the hero moderately urbane but hardly James Bond (or slippery Jim Di Griz). Somehow our art connoisseur North American Indian (?) has fallen into a job as an FBI agent, despite having no particular martial skills or aptitude. Otherwise it is pretty affable Ian Fleming stuff, with occasional babes and baddies to carry us along. I enjoyed it for a while although by the end it all felt a bit pointless.
