  • Science and Health Audiobook by Mary Baker Glover

    Title: Science and Health
    Author: Mary Baker Glover
    Narrator: Andrew W. Kidd
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 19 hrs and 36 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-12-14
    Publisher: Wellspring Foundation
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Bibles
    Publisher's Summary:
About the author: Mary Baker Glover (later Mary Baker Eddy) challenged long-standing religious doctrines in an age long before women even had the right to vote. She certainly did not claim ownership of these ideas, but rather accepted them as divine revelation her only source, the Bible, outside the constraints of 1900 years of theological interpretation. Against immense odds, this lone woman, with no financial backing, and no church to support her, managed to get this book, Science and Health, published in 1875. Years later, after she had established her own world-wide church, and taught and published extensively, Mrs. Eddy made the statement: Whatever is said and written correctly on this Science originates from the Principle and practice laid down in Science and Health, a work which I published in 1875. This was the first book, recorded in history, which elucidates a pathological Science purely mental. It is fascinating to listen to this book, knowing that, by her own admission, when Mrs. Glover wrote the book, she described her role as a scribe under orders.
About the narrator: Andrew W. Kidd was raised in a strong Christian home, his father an Anglican minister. He was dissatisfied, however, with what he had been taught. When he found the book, Science and Health, he realized at once that this was the truth for which hed been seeking. After many years studying and practicing Christian Science as a member of an independent church, he recorded the complete published writings of Mary Baker Eddy, including this first edition of Science and Health, which has never been done before. From his reading, it is clear he has a deep appreciation for the revelation Mary Baker Eddy gave to the world.

Listening to the Bible will change the way you understand scripture. The stories and poems and instructions comes in through the ears and consume your whole being as God's word becomes part of a living experience. The Common English Bible is not simply a revision or update of an existing translation. It is a bold new translation designed to meet the needs of Christians as they work to build a strong and meaningful relationship with God through Jesus Christ. A key goal of the translation team was to make the Bible accessible to a broad range of people; its written at a comfortable level for over half of all English readers. As the translators did their work, reading specialists working with 77 reading groups from more than a dozen denominations review the texts and read them aloud to ensure a smooth and natural reading experience. Easy readability can enhance church worship and participation, and personal Bible study. It also encourages children and youth to discover the Bible for themselves, perhaps for the very first time. Who Is It For? The Common English Bible is committed to the whole church of Jesus Christ. To achieve this, the CEB represents the work of a diverse team with broad scholarship, including the work of over one hundred and twenty scholars - men and women from 24 faith traditions in American, African, Asian, European and Latino communities. As a result, the English translation of ancient words has an uncommon relevance for a broad audience of Bible readers - from children to scholars.
