In Isaiah Part 3, the tone changes completely. Chapters 40 66 comprise some of the best poetry in the Bible, and the theme of that poetry is grace. Here we learn that after the Babylonian Captivity, God will redeem his people, bringing them back into fellowship with him to the place where they belong. And that return foreshadows an even greater redemption, not just for Israel, but also for all of humanity.
    Editorial Reviews:
Dr. Bill Creasy of Logos Bible Study uses a literary, historical approach to examine and enliven the bible for modern listeners. Dr. Creasy draws on his studies, travels, and personal anecdotes to vividly depict the works of scripture. He speaks in a pleasant, friendly voice but with authority, frequently incorporating contemporary references. The programs are a lively combination of a sermon and college lecture.

    Publisher's Summary:
In Isaiah Part 2, we enter the historical interlude. We learn in Isaiah 1: 1 that Isaiah functions as a prophet during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah: That is, from 740 686 B.C. During that time, two major historical events occur: 1) Assyrias attack on the northern kingdom of Israel in 722 B.C. and 2) Assyrias attack on Jerusalem in 701 B.C., while Hezekiah is king and Isaiah is prophet.
That attack in 701 B.C.and God miraculously saving Jerusalemforeshadows greater events to come. The defeat of Assyria in 701 B.C. marks the beginning of Assyrias decline as a world power and the rise of Babylon on the worlds stage. Once Babylon defeats Assyria it gets all the territory Assyria conquered, down to the gates of Jerusalem. In 605 B.C. Babylon attacks Jerusalem and does what Assyria failed to do: It conquers Judah and Jerusalem, sending the survivors into exile in Babylon.

This book covers four distinct areas concerning the life and teachings of Jesus Christ:
    1. An interview with the late Charan Singh, spiritual head of Radhasoami Satsang Beas, conducted by a group of fundamentalist Christians. Charan provides a detailed explanation for why he believes Jesus was a mystic-yogi. 2. An excerpt from Dr. Andrea Diem's pioneering work on early Gnosticism and its connection to Indian mysticism. 3. A complete translation of the Gospel of Thomas by Mark M. Mattison. 4. A radical new interpretation of Christianity based on a deep and horizontal reading of the four Gospels in the New Testament, focusing on the humanity of Mary Magdalene and her unconditional love.

    [Brackets]
I love this book, it is quick and very helpful.
Every time brackets occur, the reader says the word "brackets" in the same monotonous tone. I had to stop many times just like 50 shades of grey. Remember the email exchanges where the reader thought it was necessary to read dates, times, subjects, re subjects, re re re re subjects? Yes...
Everything else was great and verifies a lot of my personal gnostic study.

    Publisher's Summary:
When the kingship and the priesthood become corrupt, God often raises a great prophet to counter them. Ahab reigns over the northern kingdom of Israel (870-853 B.C.) and Asa over the southern kingdom of Judah (910-869 B.C.). Ahab did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him. He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat (worship of the golden calves at Dan and Bethel), but he also married [that vile, loathsome and despicable woman] Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him (2 Kings 16: 30-31). To counter such massive corruption and idolatry, God raises one of his greatest prophets, Elijah. His story begins here.

    Publisher's Summary:
Before you could tuck it under your arm, before you could bring it up on your phone, you did not read Scripture - you listened to it. For centuries the only way to access God's word was to hear it read aloud in public gatherings. Today many are blessed to own personal printed copies of the Bible, but there is a surprising benefit to hearing the Scripture read aloud, as it was for so many generations. Verses you have read many times will impact you in a new way when you hear them through The NIV Listener's Audio Bible.
Read in a single voice with subtle background music, Max McLean's skillful, engaging, but never overdramatized style will bring God's word to life during your personal and family devotion times, group Bible study, or weekday commute. Contains the full text of the Psalms.

    cataracts!
I ordered this because smaller print is getting difficult to see. This worked out just fine for what I need in sight currently.
    Good buy
I bought this for my dad, I liked that the print was bold, but he did not like the text so much. I guess he is used to the old text.
    EASY TO READ AND LIGHTWEIGHT
I bought this particular book because I wanted to be able to carry the Psalms around with me while out on errands. The text is easy to read, the book is lightweight and I am enjoying having it with me throughout the day. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a lightweight easy to read book of Psalms. The product arrived on time and was as described.

Mx.
