This is the best book I have read this year.

What made the experience of listening to On Living the most enjoyable?

Does it make sense to you that crying, again and again, while you hear someone's story is a good thing? Have you ever read a book that makes you hope that somehow in your next incarnation you could continue the author's work? Help me, please. Was it Holden Caulfield who said something about wanting to pick up a phone and have a conversation with a favorite author? I can't speak for you, but I wanted to hug her, so many times.

I would recommend this to anyone, but if I needed to say which author and book I would put on the shelf beside it, it would be BIRD BY BIRD by Anne Lamott.

great beginner book

This is a very basic beginner book that focuses on covens vs solitary witchcraft. Its a good start for anyone whos starting at groundzero because it clearly discusses the wiccan religion without coming across as judgement to new practitioners. My only complaint is that it was too short.

A Little TOO Basic

I went into this book already pretty knowledgeable about the concepts behind Wicca, but with very, very little understanding about how to start practicing, choosing a path or deity, Sabbat celebrations or their meanings, ritual tools, etc, and I figured this inexpensive listen was as good a start as any. I won't say there's nothing of interest, but I found it very unhelpful for pretty much any of the things I mentioned.

My issue with this book is that it devoted way too much time (over half the production) to comparing and contrasting the merits of coven practicing versus solitary practicing (and how either is perfectly acceptable). While I'm not denying it's an aspect worth touching on, I felt like it could've been accomplished in a paragraph or so (most of us can easily comprehend the pitfalls of working in a group), rather than being reiterated with slightly shuffled words/contexts for an hour and 45min.

It has a few things of merit, but nothing that couldn't be found in much more informative works. Ultimately, I'd recommend this for teens/students who are vaguely interested but know nothing, because it emphasizes not succumbing to peer pressure in covens or ritual work. For those of us beginners who understand the basic concepts but very little else, pick up Scott Cunningham's 'Wicca' here on Audible instead.

Incredible presentation of an incredible work

Join in this pilgrimage through Augustine's City of God - it's well worth your time!

Engaging and insightful

This is a book that has long sat on my shelf - barely started and abandoned. These lectures make the themes of the book accessible and give a context for understanding Augustine and the world he lived in.

truly, a great course! + essential for historians!

This has to be my favorite "audiobook" by far! I've enjoyed these lectures so much, from the style of the narrative, to the content, to the wisdom of the commentary. I will listen to it again for sure.

I especially want to recommend this to all my historian friends. Whether they're believers or not, they should listen to this audiobook and read the City of God. It's relevant for understanding the ancient, medieval, and modern world, and illuminates so much of the context we live in today.

Oh, and Professor Mathewes is an excellent lecturer. I hope I can attend a lecture of his live some day, now that I've listened to this.

Amazing book!

This book is the real deal! After taking the test online and reviewing my strengths, I felt it was spot on. This really helped me understand myself so much better. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to identify there strengths and pursue a field or path in something they are really good at. You need to take the test though so either buy a new copy or purchase the test online, it's totally worth it.

This is THE BEST

A local church offered a class involving this book. It has been a life-changing experience for me and I highly recommend it to you all. Buying the book gives you an access code to take a test (I love tests). THIS is one I doubt you can figure out and "cheat" on. You have 20 seconds to answer a question, the two answers for which are not necessarily related. Your answers are compiled and you get a list of your top five "Strengths". I though it was ridiculous until I actually did it and saw the results. Try it for yourself. I think you'll be amazed. Please do not think this has anything to do with "religion". This has to do with your LIFE! It has helped me to understand myself better. Everyone I know who has done this exercise has been transformed. Not to say they've changed, they just understand themselves much better and can deal with themselves the way they are. The boost to your self confidence will amaze you. You will understand why you behave the way you do.

Was not impressed

A friend recommended this book to me and I wanted to like it, but could not find any depth here. If you are looking for ways to serve your Christian community, then it might be good. If you are looking for ways to assess your strengths and figure out how best to serve a broader community, your career, your family, yourself, then I suggest the Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath.

Title is misleading

Well, I guess anyone can write a book! My intuition told me not to waste any money on this book but I had a free credit to burn so I got it.

The author is obviously young and inexperienced and it's my personal opinion that he shouldn't be reading cards for anyone.

He appears very pessimistic, cynical, and full of fear. The fact that he states that the methods of protecting ourselves are ridiculous is so sad. His fear and insecurity is exactly what invites the lower-vibration entities in. I cringed when he said he was counseling people to get a divorce.

I fast forwarded through his dribble and got to the meaty stuff on numerology and I learned a few things, so I gave him 2 stars for that.

Outstanding!

So many epiphanies! But overall the author gave validation to my own intuitive experiences as well as helping me to be more forgiving to myself when I fall into the pit of despair when I feel my own hope being depleted. I now have the courage to continue this initiative path toward self-healing and the healing of others.

Ive made gratitude one of my resolutions this year. But how to start?!

This perfectly little, short, sweet, authentic and very quotable book told me everything I need to know and reminded me why this is probably the best resolution Ill ever make. Im sure I will listen to it many times! Have already taken notes!
