Title: Streiker

Subtitle: The Killdeer

Author: Robin Hardy

Narrator: Robin Hardy

Format: Unabridged

Length: 6 hrs and 53 mins

Language: English

Release date: 01-11-14

Publisher: Westford Press

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 6 votes

Genres: Romance, Religious & Inspirational

Publisher's Summary:

Marriage to a reclusive billionaire can have its ups and downs. When reclusive Dallas billionaire Fletcher Streiker proposes marriage sight unseen to Adair Weiss in Streiker's Bride, she accepts after deep soul-searching - and discovers life on a whole new level.

In the sequel, Streiker: The Killdeer, Fletcher takes his bride home to Hawaii, where he has some important business waiting.

"You know what a killdeer is, Adair? The bird?" he asked. She shrugged slightly. "It's a little brown bird that builds its nest right on the ground. When predators get too close to her nest, the mama killdeer will lure them away. It's a very effective defense. I hope I can do half as well." Adair eyed him and he explained, "I intend to lure the predators away from the business that's most important to me." The Streiker Saga begins with Streiker's Bride, continues in Streiker: The Killdeer, and concludes in Streiker's Morning Sun.

Members Reviews:

Mystery, adventure, drama - it is also a book that brings solace

This is the second book in the Streiker Saga (the first book being Streiker's Bride in which Adair, an ordinary bank teller and aspiring dancing, receives a marriage proposal from a mysterious billionaire philanthropist that she has not seen). This book follows the adventures of Adair and her new bridegroom as they fly to Hawaii and become enveloped in a plot that tests Adair's faith and resolve.

In this story, as her husband becomes missing, Adair is tasked to care for a frightened little boy named Daniel. As with Robin Hardy's other writings, the book is well-written, livened by interesting characters and an engaging plot. But more than that, what impressed me most was her rendering of the connection that forms between Adair and Daniel - they make for some of the tenderest and heart-tugging moments that I have found in a book in a long time. There are, of course, also helicopters, burnt houses and air raids.

The book is at once a mystery, adventure, drama. It is also a book that brings solace - for those who fall in love with it and the with the larger storyline, it is also a book of God's love.

Great to have in Kindle since hard copies are in storage!

Loves the trilogy of books! Have read these many times since they came out years ago! Thanks Robin Hardy for your gift at writing and telling a story. I bought these in Kindle so that I could have them at my fingertips since my paperback copies are in storage.

Great Book, I really like Robin Hardy's Books

Great Book, I really like Robin Hardy's Books, read in one day

The Streiker Saga

Streiker's Bride, the first in the series, was the best of the series. I loaned my copy to a friend and didn't get it back for months. When I finally asked about it she told me that it had gone from friend to friend to friend and everyone that read it loved it. Streiker: The Killdeer was just as good.

Exciting

Exciting from the first paragraph yo the end! Hardy creates an intricate saga of intrigue and familial love across the United States.

Members Reviews:

Great

Another great romance novel by this author. I love to read this kind of book. It's so hard to find good clean books. I read a lot of western and historical romance too.

WITHOUT REGRETS

Kim O'Brien, the author of Legal Weapon ('04) and The Christmas

Key ('06) here tells us a captivating story of adventure,

mystery and love, filled with robust humor and a strong sense

of what matters in life.

Ty Steele is a police detective whose hope and confidence in

life have been undermined by the murder of his brother. Laney

Varner, the owner of a slightly zany pet shop and the daughter of the county sheriff, feels her sense of self worth is constantly, if unintentionally, diminished by her family and

fiance.

As Ty and Laney, amid a series of humorous detours, carry out

their "pastor's assignment," and try to revive their sense of

personal self-worth, they find support in feelings and ideas

that are increasingly unfamiliar in our society and fiction.

Well done, Ms. O'Brien. BRAVA.

A wonderful written story

I read this book in one day.. I found it a sweet and interting story with a different twist. Laney is always trying to help others. In doing so she often ends up in some pretty sticky messes. Ty wants nothing more to be left alone in life. He has already been hurt once and he wont let himself fall in love again. No matter how sweet or wonderful he finds Laney. I enjoyed this book very much. It is a different kind of story plot. One that will keep you reading till the very last page. I will be looking for more books by this author.

great reading/great author

this was one of the best audio books i have ever read, but then heartsong does it up right. enjoyed it immensely

Fast listen. Gobbled it up in one day.

If you could sum up Hell's Christmas (The Hell Tales) in three words, what would they be?

Romance Christian Enjoyable

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hell's Christmas (The Hell Tales)?

It was all good. I suppose for me it was the romance storyline between Justin and Monica. I like the part where she wakes up and is not where she should be.

Have you listened to any of Vivian Lus other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first novel by her but I enjoyed it. She was a good Narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I started it early in the morning and by bed time was done with it. I just couldn't stop listening.

Any additional comments?

I was going to give this novel a 4.5 but decided to round it off to an even 5. I will say that the novel starts out in first person and I almost let that knock me out of hearing a great novel. First person is not my favorite, and not all of this novel is in first person, so after a bit I was inside the story and listening all day.

Hells Christmas did everything it was supposed to do. It kept me entertained. It kept me listening, and it made me laugh and I enjoyed it.It has a few twists and turns I didn't expect. It had a great Christian message even though I would not consider it preachy in the least. I will be looking for more audio books by this author, and if you like a good clean read.

You will like this. If you like romance you will enjoy this story, and if you ever have watched it's a Wonderful Life you will smile now and then in remembrance of that great movie. I don't know if the author can reply to this or not, but I hope she lets me know when she has more novels out.

Great Story and Message

I enjoyed this story and the characters. Was a great message on how love and acceptance can change a heart

Five Stars

Great story!

bookobsessed

I like pioneering stories about the Oregon trail but this book is short, very amateurish and very poorly written. The disjointed flashbacks from the past are confusing. I don't think even younger readers would enjoy this book.

Not my style.

I had a hard time buying into a story about a woman on a wagon train giving cooking lessons to earn her keep. I unfortunately gave up on the book before I even made it a quarter of the wat through.

Uplifting. Good Narration.

Uplifting and sweet. It's refreshing to find stories about the old West that aren't dark and violent. And I really enjoyed the narration.

odd story

This was ok. It's a quick read. The characters and plot were fine. Helen Keating has potential. I think her best is eyt to come if she'd just take a it longer writing the stories.

Great To LIsten to On my Commute!

Love the premiss, writing could be better but the narrator was fun to listen to! The perfect length for a commute to work.

Amish Jakob Wants A Family Before He Meets The Lord

What can I say about this story? IT was the shortest story I have purchased. It was an unusual

"Amish " story and I cried when I read it. I don't know if I can recommend it because it is a sad

story. Read it if you have a box of tissues handy.

A little to short.

This book was much to short. Wish there was more detail on length before I paid for it. Please add more details. Gave four stars for effort. Many may give less. Novella or a chapter or book in progress should be less money. Good luck.

ok

This decent. Te plot and characters are decent. It seems too short. I wouldn't recommend it. Stick with Sicily Yoder if you want short volumes.

Five Stars

The story line is heart breaking. The ending is joyful and heart felt.

Jacob's Dream

Very enjoyable and pleasant reading. I would recomend this to anyone who enjoys books about the Amish. Try it, you won't be sorry.
