Nice Short Story - Perfect for Your Work Lunch Break
If you're looking for a fast ten minute or so read during your lunch break at work, this one could be a good one for you. Without having a spoiler this story is set in a science fiction scenario, yet it's really not science fiction but a quick down and dirty murder mystery - the author quickly gets you involved and into the plot, the dialogue is relevant to the story (very important), and there is a nice conclusion.
I initially picked this up for free during a promotion in the Kindle store, and as I type this review I see it is now 99 cents. If you're looking for a good fast read, it might be worth it. However, considering there are lots of full-length novels here at that same price, you might want to give it a pass.
a solid, involving Sci-Fi Mystery
I read this one twice, and only appreciated its intricacy the second time. There's a lot going on, with politics between poor colonists and rich, powerful Terran imperialists, with Kimball's internal struggles about his mentor's true intentions, and some great world-building that, frankly, I'm surprised would be in such a short piece.
I haven't read a lot of Mysteries set in Science Fiction environments, but this one made me want to go out and find more.
