We thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story in the car on our new journey to and from school each day. There were plenty of cliff hangers and lots of suspense and I really liked that Mabel Jones met all the adversity head on. Go Mabel!

Like the first book in the series

The second book in the Princesses of Chadwick series "The Beaded Dress Mystery" follows Elle and Bella further along in their adventure. The two girls are caught out of their bed by their mistress and spend a day contemplating how they will be punished. When Bella brings Elle into her room for further discussion of the secretive happenings around their home, she lets Elle in on a surprising secret. The girls have discovered a secret passage in the fireplace and decide to see where it leads. They discover a guest room with lovely, beaded dresses that look very different from their own heavy frocks. Like the first book in the series, there was an artist that was featured in the story whose paintings enhanced the text. In this book, the artist is Degas. This is appropriate because Elle and Bella do find out that the secret guests are dancers, which was one of Degas' most famous painting subjects. There is a very informative author's note at the end of the book, that is very short, but very factual that will help lead readers and educators to hopefully explore Degas and his paintings. The story is very engaging and very easy to read.

Mystery in a castle

The Beaded Dresses Mystery takes you through an adventure of two young princesses. They know something is different around the castle but no one will tell them. They find some secrets of their own, but the mystery continues as part of the series of the princesses of Chadwick Castle. We love the paintings used throughout the story as well as the biography of Edgar Degas that was a bonus.

Delightful story and artwork

I have been reading stories with my young niece since she was born. She adores anything having to do with princesses so I was thrilled to find this new series by author Emma Right. The "Beaded Dresses Mystery" is a wonderful story about two sisters, Elle and Belle, who are curious about well-dressed strangers in their home (the castle) late at night. When not given answers by Miss Stencil, they investigate on their own. This was a delightful story that was told in short bites on each page with a beautiful classic painting to accompany the text. Loved the read and looking forward to reading more in this series.

Beaded Dresses Mystery is a fantastic book. I was totally fascinated with this fun adventure of the two princesses. The suspense and drama is great and each character has its own unique personality. The pictures are lovely in this book.
