Investigating 101

Suspense filled. The audiobook kept me interested. You will enjoy this short book, I know I did!

Nope

I just could not get into this one, maybe others didn't too that why the price was greatly reduced when I purchased it. It's now relegated to the removable hard drive. Who knows I may dig into it again but not any time soon.

I Liked It

This book was not what I expected. It had a very good suspense and some romance - I liked it. What intrigued me the most was the chemistry between the 2 main characters. The story was different and it kept my attention. The only part that bothered me was the ending - and I am assuming that there will be another book. If so, I can't wait!

Voice makes suspension of disbelief difficult.

This is the sixth Sherlock Holmes novel I've listened to this month and my least favorite. The narrator dramatizes the character's voices so that it sounds like you're listening to a play. I much prefer to hear a book read so that the voices create a suspension of disbelief.

I envy anyone who has not read this novella.

This is Doyle's longest and most complete story. We get to know several characters besides Holmes and Watson. Doyle describes Dartmoor and the Grimpen Mire with tantalizing details.

If you are not familiar with any of the movies, radio or TV adaptations, you have a rare treat in store. But even if you have been a longtime fan of Sherlock Holmes it is worth another read.

Absolutely Classic Story

The classic Holmes story. It can be a bit wordy at times but the reasoning behind that was to involve the reader in the general moodiness and atmosphere of the story. This isn't THE Holmes story to read if you are just becoming acquainted with Holmes, but it is very worthwhile reading once you've been introduced to him via some of the short stories or perhaps even A Study in Scarlet and The Sign of Four.

Old school detective story

If you want to start with Holmes, start here. Many old school stories don't hold up well, this does. For cultural literacy reasons alone it's worth the time (it's a quick read) but it's also a good story. Call it up on the Kindle for a buck and enjoy the bus ride.

One of the best

It was fun to have a Holmes novel with Watson taking center stage. This is a classic. Doyle makes you picture and actually feel the moor. Do yourself a favor and read this one. (One star is taken off for the incredible amount of typos.)

Sherlock Holmes rocks

Sherlock Holmes is the best. Read every story over and over again. Love this one because it proves that answers don't have to be fanciful to be right.

I am SO disappointed in Audible. I did not realize this was abridged; what's the point? I'm almost through it and there's nothing of the character development that's supposed to be here.

BEWARE - IT IS ABRIDGED!

I wish I had read the description more carefully. I just wasted a purchase.

I love this series, but who would have contracted a reader who makes Lindley sound like an old slightly crotchety man. Yuk. He is supposed to be young cultured and vital.

Ripped off

Like other reviewers, I was extremely disappointed when I realized that this was an abridged version of this work (yes, I should have noted this before I made the purchase but didn't). Whereas certain books can be read/listened to in abridged format without loss of content, because of the manner in which Ms. George develops her characters, this is not one of them. My hope is that Audible or some other service will see fit to issue an unabridged version of this book. In the meantime, I will wait (or read the book) rather than listen to the abridged work.

Book Good, Narrator not appropriate

I love the Linley series but was disappointed with this narrator - too old to represent Linley. I alsp prefer reading without music...they're distracting.

OK, I guess

Although it is unusual for a husband and wife team to write a book together, one would be hard pressed to nominate a better pair than these. In order to avoide the possible conflicts that could arise from such a joint venture, the Kellermans took a safe route in its format by dividing the book into two relatively separate parts. OK, so far. What I got, I think, is two novellas pasted together. In addition, I'm still looking for the end of the book. It seemed to me that the ending of the book was accomplished in the final thirty or words. Given the proven talents of both authors, I was somewhat disappointed. However, the book (warts and all) is still better than many others being flogged these days.the other within its genere being flogged these days.

Disappointing

I'm a big fan of Jonathan Kellerman, but these two stories were a real disappointment. Neither the plots nor the character development were particularly good, resulting in a couple of bland short stories (novellas only based on their length) with not much to recommend them.

If you really like either of the Kellermans or both, then go ahead and try Double Homicide. Otherwise, save your money...

Two are not always better than one

If you are interested in how a detective lives, thinks and works a murder then you should enjoy this book.
