But Francis's picture brings all sorts of good thoughts every time I see it and prompts prayers ...
Each morning after breakfast I spend meditation time to start my day. I have been blessed by Pope Francis since he blessed us all with our prayers before he told us his name as our Bishop of Rome. I expected him to be shot, poisoned or stabbed any day. That now has been years ago. I have a "library" of his writings and about him including the TIME and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC. I belong to a TOPS GROUP that always exchanges names for Christmas. I am 87 and have too many things so I didn't let my name in the box for drawing. But at our Christmas party I got a gift which I was not going to accept but had to from the excitement that it was causing, One of my friends took the picture of Francis out of a paper and they framed it and wrapped it for my Christmas present. It covers my kitchen clock which I no longer have the finger strength to wind. But Francis's picture brings all sorts of good thoughts every time I see it and prompts prayers both for Francis and my friends the many times a day I see it.
I am now on page 81 of the book and as I was meditating on the thoughts it evoked I came to understand why I have been uncomfortable with it. It was edited as a "Jesus and I" book for narcissists. I am positive St. Francis, Pope Francis and Jesus himself would not like it. I suspect today Jesus prays His Our Father with "Thy Kin-dom come" instead of a kingdom. He did tell us to preach to"every creature" or as some translations have it "all creation" Mk 16:15. Jesus tells us that the Father keeps count of the hairs on our head and knows when the sparrow that's sold two for a nickle dies Mt 10:29-31 and Lk 12:05-07. Pope Francis teaches us the earth is our common home, St. Francis knew Brother Sun and Sister Moon. Do we?
Five Stars
Excellent book, much food for thought!
High priest is a let down
While I am impressed with Pope Francis and his normal eloquence, this book is a real disappointment.
Kind of talking down to the reader. Not the originality I was hoping for.
Excellent!
As a lay Franciscan I read many books about St. Francis. This book is one of the best to bring St. Francis into our modern age. An excellent read.
A thought provoking and joy filled book
