Great Book!

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Shower & Shelter series written by Brooke St. James and narrated by Kate Rudd. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didnt want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

Yes. It's sweet and fun and Dorian Bane always brings the stories to life.

I like the foodie theme. I love stories about chefs and this didn't disappoint

Yes. I love Dorian Bane and never turn down an opportunity to hear one of his performances.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No, not really. The story is just a sweet simple low heat romance. It's like hot cocoa. A nice warming story!

Any additional comments?

I love the Dreamspun Desires stories and this is no exception. Breaking Bonds is a sweet romance with a chef theme. I love sex chefs and this story hit the spot!

A Fun, Sweet Story Well Narrated by Dorian Bane

The writing duo known as Ari McKay is new to me, so Breaking Bonds was the first chance Ive had to enjoy their work. The second in their The Walker Boys series this is easily read as a standalone.

Initially drawn to this one because it was narrated by Dorian Bane, and hes never let me down, I found this book to be much more than I expected.

The story is full of wonderful surprises: The characters are creative, the relationships are interesting, and there is an original story with a great message as well.

When big city chef Liam Walker has a complete meltdown he decides a little R&R might be in order. He escapes to a struggling little resort in the mountains of North Carolina, where there is a serious need for some help in the kitchen. Liams attraction to the resorts owner, Carter Galloway, is immediate (and mutual). Carter helps Liam reexamine his priorities and see theres more to life than fame and fortune.

Carter is a strong character, sticking true to his values against all the odds. Facing prejudice, insufficient finances, and an inexperienced staff, Carter sets out to do his best.

Full Review -

First off, I listened to the audiobook version of Skin, and the narrator was absolutely perfect! She did a super incredible job! If given the opportunity definitely get the audio version of this book! Okay, now on to the story. My heart hurts! This story is raw and deep, and my poor heart was taking a beating! Knight is totally someone that you shouldn't love because he is violent, destructive, and a total loose cannon, but the way he cares for BB, and the letters he writes her, make my heart melt! He's a sweet psycho, and I don't know how, but I loved him. I suppose if I knew him in really life, I'd probably runaway, but books allow you to see deeper into someone, and feel connected to someone you wouldn't normally. This book deals with a lot of harsh situations, so here's a bit of a warning for future readers, this book is not for everyone. This may be slightly spoilerish, but not too bad. There's underage drug use, violence, and minors having sex that goes beyond the normal kink factor; there's blood and pain play, so be prepared for that type of thing going on. These characters are deeply flawed, and my heart sighed (sorry for all the heart talk ;-))that Knight and BB found each other.

Another sweet romance

I really enjoyed this book. It was a little different in that it didn't the usual fall in love, have a big misunderstanding, then quickly work it out kind of story. The H was truly a hero. The h bugged me a little. She was a spunky, tell it like it is girl, but she couldn't tell a guy she wasn't interested? Especially when she had done so, apparently, several times before. Other than that, I liked the book.

Almost good

Loved the book, characters, editing, and plot until the last supposedly big ending. To put it nicely, the last part of the book stunk. What a terrible way to try and get a little excitement in the book. The book would have been great without the--spoiler coming up--drug chapter. Obviously the poorest of the series so far.

Love comes slowly

I love that this book is clean and fun. She is one of my favorite authors.

This book is different from most love stories. It has depth and the characters are well described.

Romance with a bit of suspense thrown in

Loved it. Who knew getting an exclusive interview would somehow get Maryn chased by a bear? And that's. Just the beginning. Good thing her interviewee became her hero and saved her from more than just a grizzle.

I think this is the only time a grizzly bear attack will ever end in romance. Cute story. A bit religious but not over the top. I look forward to Johnson's romance!

I almost feel bad for giving a 3.75 rating bcz I actually loved the story but bcz Im a firm believer of feedback being a gift here are my thoughts:

1- Since there was dual POVs, we shouldve heard more from Nick

2- Although the narrators were awesome and as much as I love Erin, the listener shouldve heard more from Jason (oh good lord is his voice SEXY)

3- The book couldve been longer to have an epic romance build up before the chaos

4- Though Jess was still holding on in some ways, I wish she had more actively dated

5- The separation shouldve been longer to give Jess that time to date and Nick an opportunity to delay things

6- Speaks to #2, I wouldve love to hear more about Nicks interactions with Carla

7- With Jesss strength, I wish she had made Nick work harder to get her back rather than one conversation

8- Jess mentioned she was in experienced but there shouldve have been more discussion between her and Nick about her past experiences and how he would handle her heart and body with care. Those words wouldve Jess more to ponder over

9- Wouldve been cool to hear how Nicks Frat Bros razzed him over Carla and attempted to get with Jess

10- We couldve heard more about the Frat Bro who was kicked out. Or maybe he couldve ran into Jess at the other school (IDK)

11- Jesss lie to Nick at the beginning was never revisited

IMO: At heart Nick was an immature coward who knew nothing about women, feelings, or how to be a man. He was a juvenile who needed his brothers to stand up for him. I get that was a sort of the point of the story, but I wish there was something more substantial given to the audience to hold on to other than, my dad said I had to... WHIMP!!

Heres what I loved:

1- I loved Jesss strength and boldness in her attempts to stand her ground

2- I loved the fact that Jess had a great support system

3- I loved the angst this story bought on

4- I LOVED both Narrators (Jason Clarke gives he eargasims, YUM!)

5- I loved the fact that the audience could draw their own conclusions about Nick & Jesss future rather than saying the got married and lived HEA

6- I loved the mention of the other brothers, cant wait for their stories to come out on audio

7- I loved that Jess didnt give in and went for her dreams

8- I loved the fact that Carla threw a tantrum in front of everyone

9- I loved the flow of the story

Overall, I did actually love the story although there was much to be desired. Good thing it landed in the GD Romance Package, otherwise it wouldve gone over looked.
