Don't listen to the audiobook while driving!

Fun Fact: I actually listened to the audiobook version of August while undertaking an hours-long road trip out of town. I usually donât listen to erotica while driving, but made an exception for this one. It was short, lively, and seemed like a fun time. I figured it might provide a nice distraction from an otherwise dull and boring drive.

I quickly discovered that I had made a huge mistake. And I mean that as a compliment.

B.J. Taylorâs August: The Exploits of a Spoiled Rich Bitch unfolds like the worldâs raunchiest episode of Gossip Girl. It plunges us right into the gonzo-porno universe of the decadent rich, where libertines with massive bank accounts and insatiable sexual appetites treat each other like erotic commodities. Taylor writes about their debauched lives with a hard-nosed bluntness; his prose is direct, explicit, and often shocking with how casual sex acts are broached between strangers and enacted amongst family friends. Thereâs no time for romance or sentimentalityâespecially for our titular ârich bitch,â August. To borrow a quote from noted tampon enthusiast Christian Grey, she doesnât want to âmake love.â She wants to f***.

Did I forget to mention that August is a great character? The book is written from her point-of-view, and I often found myself chuckling at her unabashed horniness and brazen sexuality. Sheâ s obviously a male fantasy of the sexually excessive woman, but written with tremendous wit and panache. Again, imagine a character from Gossip Girl thrust into an NC-17 universe. Lauren Sweetâs fun, fully realized vocal performance adeptly brings this character to life; sheâs out-of-this-world good.

Naturally, this was all a little hard to take in while driving through a crowded Mid-Western highway. I found myself blushing, sputtering, and generally trying hard to contain myself as Taylor took me to realms of sexual debauchery I had not prepared myself for. That, in itself, warrants a recommendation.

Novella length *adult* fantasy

Starts with lots of forced sex that Paige eventually gets excited by.

Hunter wants to use her as a sex toy when he thinks she is crazy, but then falls for her (?) after she trades a shower for "anything he wants". Mostly erotica with a ghost & vague references to Paige's magic power--a thing she used to be into, but still knows well enough to exorcise her dead boyfriend from her new fella. Aside from several explicit sex scenes that start non-consensual, this has the feel of a typical college girl with a bit of magic light fantasy book.

a fabulous paranormal romance novella!

I am quickly becoming a HUGE JE Taylor fan! Her writing is superb, and her imagination awe-inspiring. This book followed four character in a fast-paced, engaging fantasy that begins when one of the character wakes up strapped in a hospital bed, with everyone around her thinking she is guilty of murder. And the victim, Hunter, is visiting her--now a ghost--and he's trying to help her find a way to prove she is innocent. (He's a ghost, so he can't exactly speak up to clear her name for her). This story was fill of steamy scenes (yum!) and plot twists that kept me on my toes from page to page. Great writing, and a fast read. If you enjoy paranormal romance, give this one a go!

Don't miss it.

This book was great and I can't wait to read the next one. There is violence and sex so I would have to recommend only for over 18, but I definitely would recommend it! As always, Ms. Taylor, well done.

Good book

I was gifted this book in exchange for a review.

At first I had a bit of trouble keeping up with the 4 characters. It was very fast paced and nothing that really stood out about them. That quickly changed around the time of the party.

Paige wakes up in a hospital strapped to the bed. Hunter is dead. Everyone thinks she is crazy and she did it.

Hunter is now a ghost and is visiting her. He knows she innocent but how can they prove it if he's dead? Oh and btw, he can also preform sexual acts as a ghost. Once Hunter realizes he can possess someone's body things change, and truths come out.

This was a very quick read. Good writing, I will definitely keep my eyes open for future books by this author. And a lot of sex, so just know that before diving in in case you don't like books like that.

interesting story with some heat

This book was not at all what I was expecting, though I'm not too sure what I was expecting. The story line was interesting, and the sex scenes were raunchy. If you're not into graphic sex, better pass on this one.

Virgin Point of View

Have you ever read a story where you think, "If we took the original, mixed this with it, what might come from it?"?

This is a great of example of how one might do it in the case of an erotica version.

Each chapter feels like a flash piece that concentrates really well in the moment of what is happening. Giving equal parts insight on what Alice is thinking in her head and what she is feeling physically without outdoing each other. They almost feel like scenes of a play, which if you have a vivid imagination should be a most pleasant experience. Even the gradual intensity of each of Alice's experiences is a good build up.

Only disappointment? Near the end with the Queen of Hearts (story is parallel enough where I hope this isn't much of a spoiler). I know that there is to be a second installment to this so my hopes will be high.

Have fun going down this rabbit hole!

Very Sexy.

A fun and very sexy retelling of the Alice in Wonderland story that is full of all kinds of awesome sexual perversions. Alice is a virgin who promised to save herself for marriage, but that doesn't mean she can't have some fun with her Hitachi like sex toy named Dinah. One day, Alice is stolen by a white rabbit wearing human clothes and poor Alice gives chase down a rabbit hole and into a world of erotic delights. This book is definitely only for an 18+ audience. Buy yourself a handful and make a Jehovah's Witness take one in exchange for a Watchtower Magazine.

So you think you know Alice?

The title and the cover illustration says it all (no false advertising HERE!). Berti Walker's tale is a rollicking, rousing (and arousing) little romp through the looking glass. One of the many show-stopping sequences involves the famous "tea party". Only this time, the Mad Hatter and the March Hare have something a little different in mind for our rapidly maturing heroine. There's even a love story within, to satisfy those of the "Harlequin" set. Great stuff!

Oh yeah!

A surreal trip into a land of lust. The cover says it all; I thouoghly enjoyed this quick read.

Female pleasure in a fantasy scenario

Clara & Dathen are traveling through the mysterious Darkwood Forest. Some very sensual mysteries will indeed be encountered! Just to be upfront in this review, this is an erotica book so some adult themes will be discussed, sometimes using euphemisms and sometimes not.

We started off with Clara fantasizing about Dathen. At first, it wasnt clear to me that it was a fantasy and it took a little bit for me to realize the two were riding on separate horses, etc. If I have any little criticism about this book, this is it here. I had this initial confusion about the setting and who was where doing what. But sexy things were going on so I didnt mind all that much. Anyway, things quickly become clear as the two have to make camp for the night.

Dathen seems like a good enough guy, being somewhat oblivious to Claras yearnings. We learn very little about him in this book and he is mostly scenery. Very nice scenery. Indeed, this book is all about Claras pleasure, which was very nice. I really appreciated the focus being on her enjoyment and exploration.

And there is some very interesting exploration indeed! The Darkwood Forest didnt get its reputation for nothing! Theres a creature in the forest that is very interested in Claras pleasure.

In this book, we have some fantasy scenes, and them some scenes where two beings are enjoying each other. These are explicit, hot, and sexy. The author took efforts to describe not just the sex acts but also Claras mental arousal, the sensations all along her skin, and the anticipation of exploring the unknown. Indeed, this is no crude story.

This book has a touch of the fantasy genre to it. Clara & Dathen are traveling from point A to point B, so they are armed and dressed appropriately for a long horseback trip. Dathen has a little bit of the adventure barbarian going for him. The most fantastical element is the mysterious forest creature that comes to pleasure Clara. I could see this being the first of many stories placed in this not-yet-fleshed-out fantasy world.

I received a copy of this book from the author (via the Audiobooks Addicts Facebook group) at no cost in exchange for an honest review.

The Narration: Ivy Swanson was OK. She started off really slow in her pacing. Also, she tried to make every word sexy. Honestly, I dont need every word to be sexy, even for an erotica. Her performance did get better as the tale continued and by the end I was enjoying her voice for Clara and pacing. I would try another book narrated by her to see if her performance quality improves.
