Riepilogo Editore:

It does give a good history of the various versions of the book and ...

It's hard to figure out which part of this is the actual writing and which is a narrative about the writing. It also goes into a lot of Chines Dynasty history that I wasn't too interested in delving as deep as it got. It does give a good history of the various versions of the book and who may or may not have written it.

Great book.

To defeat your neighbor (LOL)

Proof of Chinese wisdom.

The true art will be not to have wars at all.

Five Stars

Great read and commentary on the classic war strategy book that offers advice applicable to any facet of life.

Boldface type makes it work

This is the only copy of the art of war that I've come across which provides the original text in boldface type so that you can read it that having to wait three pages and pages of commentary .

Five Stars

I would enjoy a modern treatise of this book

Title: The Turnip Princess and Other Newly Discovered Fairy Tales

Author: Erika Eichenseer, Franz Xaver von Schonwerth, Maria Tatar

Narrator: Heather Wilds

Format: Unabridged

Length: 7 hrs and 23 mins

Language: English

Release date: 06-16-15

Publisher: Tantor Audio

Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 6 votes

Genres: Classics, World Literature

Publisher's Summary:

In the 1850s, Franz Xaver von Schönwerth traversed the forests, lowlands, and mountains of Northern Bavaria to record fairy tales, gaining the admiration of even the Brothers Grimm. Most of Schönwerth's work was lost until a few years ago, when 30 boxes of manuscripts were uncovered in a German municipal archive. Now, for the first time, Schönwerth's lost fairy tales are available in English.

Violent, dark, and full of action, and upending the relationship between damsels in distress and their dragon-slaying heroes, these more than 70 stories bring us closer than ever to the unadorned oral tradition in which fairy tales are rooted, revolutionizing our understanding of a hallowed genre.

Critic Reviews:

"The tales are vigorous, direct, and less artful then those of the Grimms, suggesting greater authenticity, closer to the source." (Library Journal)

Titolo: Venere in pelliccia

Formato: Unabridged

Durata: 2 hrs and 46 mins

Lingua: Italiano

Data di pubblicazione: 05-18-15

Editore: GoodMood

Categoria: Classics, World Literature

Riepilogo Editore:

A lot left out.

This translation leaves out a great deal of the detail. But it is easier to comprehend and maintains a central theme which can get lost in a more literal translation.
