It's a very good book

I am six years old and my mother read this book to me. This is the second best Boxcar Children book we have read. My favorite so far is The Mystery in Washington, DC. I like this book because it takes place in a zoo, and it has lots of endangered animals in it. The mystery was full of surprises, but Mommy guessed the right guy as always.

A very interesting way to describe the world unknown, a true care to protect a girl with unusual gift and a warm way to describe spirits' characters frighten us most, combine all together wanting you to finish this book in no time.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a creative and grim tale, with a Tim Burton under tone. I am a big fan of Felix and the world that was created in this book. Good listen/read for young adults who like a scary story. Great performance as well.

I'm not sure what to think . . .

This book is a little hazy, which fits into the subject matter of ghosts. Time passes quickly and slowly for the main character. You are never quite sure of the time period in which the book is set. However, there are some super implausible/convenient connections in the plot which are unsatisfactorily explained through dream walking. Other things are left unexplained and the main characters are okay with it because "ghosts are different and hard to understand." In the end, I was left unsatisfied by this story. The plot either needed to be more specific or less so.

Very Interesting

I'd say this book is a little exciting. The Alden Children have started a birthday party planing business. They decided they like to plan party's and bake cakes so it would be fun.

Their first party is at their friend Alex's home. The Aldens throw him a dinosaur them party. But with all the children laughing in the basement, nobody hears a burglar sneak in. The party is a great success, and no one discovers the burglar until Mrs. Pierce goes into the safe to get money to pay the Aldens. "We've been robbed!" Is screamed through the house.

Next, the Aldens throw a party for Hallie Grayson, who just broke her ankle. Hallie was going to have a skating party, but obviously she can't now. They still want to have a party at the skating rink though, because of the empty room. Mr. Grayson has lots of valuable art work in his home and does not want bunches of kids running around. After the party, another success, the Graysons are robbed! The Aldens start to wonder if the robberies have anything to do with their party planning business.

You will find many suspicious characters lurking in the pages of this mystery. But I will tell you, there is only one robber.

I would like to thank Amazon for quick shipment and letting me open the book and enjoy every wonderful page it provides me.

I recommend this book to readers who enjoy the boxcar children and a good mystery. No age level is appropriate. All ages can enjoy Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny.

I enjoy kindle books because they allow you to buy a free sample to see if you enjoy the book whereas libraries, bookstores, etc. You must buy the whole book even if you dislike it.

It allows you to note and highlight for book reports or to help you understand what is happening.

The ending actually has a family reunion and someone you never thought you would see appears. I really enjoyed the book. Many different children appear and the Aldens make new friends.

Top-notch Novel for Children

This mysterious children's novel became one of the all time most famous children's novel in the U.S.A. The writer of this marvelous novel, Gertrude Chandler Warner, had what they call writers talent. He made no mistakes and must have had a wonderful experience while writing this story. My self personally collected all of his works of writing. Tons of my friends and family had a trill while reading the mysterious novel. In the begging of his novels you jump right into it and gain interest. The four young children contained in this story are, Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny. It seems kind of tragic that all four are forced to live in one boxcar. Later most happiness rose up the children's hearts when they moved to their grandfather's home. They all started a children's birthday party planning business.

Just brilliant.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. This is Jesse Bernstein in his inimitable Percy mode. He's possibly even better here than in previous recordings. He's a true voice actor, the sheer number of different characters he can conjure is astonishing, and with so much humour in his voice. My grandson says he sounds as excited to be reading the book as we are listening to it. This is a terrific - and laugh out loud funny - introduction to the Greek heroes. This review is from four of us in this family (so far), all of us hooked from the start. Really. I listened to the lot in one sitting, forgetting to eat! It's as much fun for adults revisiting the old myths as it is for young people coming new to the stories. Refreshing, too, to see some female heroes getting the attention they deserve. And one thing we all just love...Jesse Bernstein talking horse! Genius!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Percy Jackson and the Greek Heroes?

We all rather love the 'gross-out alert!' moments. The Grey Sisters are a standout. And Pegasus making his horsey remarks. The shocking story of Perdix. The downfall of King Minos. Too many high points to mention.

Have you listened to any of Jesse Bernsteins other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes. He's been the perfect Percy Jackson from the very first book, and just gets better and better. He's a born storyteller, and seems to really enjoy what he's reading. I really do hope that's the case, because we certainly love listening to him. The match-up of book with narrator doesn't come better than this.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I did exactly that. My nephew and niece are currently doing the same. Grandson is on his second listen already, and only got the book yesterday.

Any additional comments?

Just that we hope Jesse Bernstein gets to hear what great fun listeners derive from his work. We'd all happily listen to anything else he does.

PERCY JACKSON RULES!!

This is such a great book! It kept me hooked and I listened to it day and night! There was so much I didn't know about Greek Heroes and Heroines!

I would recommend this 10+! I hope Percy/Rick Riordan writes another book soon!

I loved this book it was very interesting. What I like most about it was that it was portrayed in a way that made it interesting and in a way modernised.it took traditional Greek story's and gave them a twist in a way that would attract an audience

What a great book.

Old Wolf

Old Wolf is a very enjoyable story about a wolf pack leader becoming to old for the leader position. The leader is challenged but does not lose to the younger wolf but the younger wolf chooses to screw up a hunt which hurts the old leader so he can't stand. This places the younger wolf in the pack leader position. This story also describes a thirteen year old boy who wants to become a bow hunter for his thirteenth birthday. The boy discovers the injured old wolf and brings him food and water to help the wolf . The boy also applies antibiotic ointment to the wolf's leg.

This is the best book I have ever read

This is the best book I have ever read. It was full of adventure and kept my interest from the first page to the last.I think all kids who like animals and/or wolves should read it.

"The Mystery of the Pirate's Map" has the 2 words pirates map but in the book they never mention Pirates map they only mention it once. But I would still recommend this book.

Great trilogy for 13 year old.

Distopian Fantasy with Overcomplicated Ending

True Son Is a dystopian fantasy, telling the story of Taemon, the True Son of Deliverance, and his old friend Gevri, a Republikite commander who is furious at Taemon for his betrayal. Psi, a magical force that some people, like Taemon and Gevri, wield is central to the story. Taemon finds that the elimination of psi has returned Deliverance to peace. But the loss of psi leaves Deliverance vulnerable to Nau and the Republikites. However Gevriâs squad, when attempting to defeat Nau soldiers, is captured. With rising tensions, a peace offering is sent by Republikite to Deliverance. The question is, will the conference succeed and, what are the Nau doing in this chaos? My favorite parts were in the middle as most action and drama occurred here. However, an anticlimactic and rather overcomplicated ending prevent me from loving the book. It is a decent read overall, and fans of more mature fantasy will enjoy it, although dystopian and light fantasy readers will be alienated by the extreme philosophical and religious (although the Church of Nathan is clearly an in book religion) ending.

After the events in Archon, Gevri is bitter and vengeful towards his once-friends. But when Gevri is captured by their common enemy, Taemonâs aid may help bring peace between Deliverance and the Republik. Meanwhile, Taemon readyâs his town for an invasion, believing that fleeing their homes may be their only way of evading conflict.

True Son is the final installment in The Psi Chronicles. There is plenty of drama and suspense as time runs out for the town of Deliverance. I was afraid Iâd forgotten most of what happened in previous installments, but surprisingly most came back as I read. With strong characters, and engaging plot, and a satisfying conclusion â I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy.

The final chapter

I first became aware of this series by listening to Freakling through the audio sync summer program. It was an interesting concept and I enjoyed the first book. The trilogy should have ended there. I realize it was set up as a trilogy and the full story was interesting, but the second two books dragged a lot.
