    Title: Supernatural
Subtitle: What the Bible Teaches About the Unseen World and Why It Matters
    Author: Dr. Michael S. Heiser
    Narrator: Gordon Greenhill
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 3 hrs and 51 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 12-04-15
    Publisher: Lexham Press
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 244 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Dr. Michael S. Heiser, a scholar-in-residence at Faithlife Corporation, presents 15 years of research on what the Bible really says about the unseen world of the supernatural unfiltered by tradition or by theological presuppositions. People shouldn't be protected from the Bible, Dr. Michael S. Heiser says, but theological systems often do just that, by explaining away difficult or troublesome passages of Scripture because their literal meaning doesn't fit into our tidy systems.
Who were the sons of God? Who were the Nephilim? Where do angels fit into the supernatural hierarchy? Why did God find it necessary to have the Israelites destroy the populations of entire cities man, woman, and child? What relation does Jesus bear to the rest of the supernatural world? Dr. Michael S. Heiser tackles these questions and many more in his books Supernatural and The Unseen Realm.
In both books, Dr. Michael S. Heiser shines a light on the supernatural world, not a new light, but rather the same light the original, ancient readers and writers of Scripture would have seen it in.
After these books, you won't be able to read the Bible in the same way again.
Supernatural, What the Bible Teaches About the Unseen World and Why It Matters presents this approach to reading and understanding scripture for the person in the pew. The Unseen Realm covers the same material but at a deeper, complex, and highly documented way, for pastors, the seminarian, or serious students of the Bible.

The Bible Aint So Boring Now....
Where does Supernatural rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
In terms of making me think different. in the top 3.
What other book might you compare Supernatural to and why?
Anything by Brian Godawa, because we draws from Hieser's source material for the rules of his stories. If you have not read those stories. Well... To me that's like saying, "I have read The Silmarillion why bother with Lord of the Rings..." Story...
Which character as performed by Gordon Greenhill was your favorite?
Jesus, from the vantage point of the author, is very calculated and heroic. NO CHEESINESS HERE TRUST ME! Lots of Jesus books are overly preachy this is just hammers a lot of good (unique) points home in a way nobody else has. Seriously. Nobody has ever written about Jesus with this vantage point for at least 2000 years.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When you understand when Jesus calls out Satan and Banias, and fools him into killing him you realize the new testament is the greatest chess game ever played. Jesus outsm, arted the Devil. Dude he was so smart about it too. Just killer.
    Any additional comments?
Just listen to the book. If you hate it you can always return it. However you would be a fool to becasue info like this kind of info only comes around every.... well.. 2000 years apparently. You wont return it. You will sit back and smoke a cigar and think..."God's kind of a bada$$ isn't he?" He is. This book proves it.
    Tough to put down!
Answered questions I didn't know I had but filled a void created by the traditional heartfelt one liners we get and give walking the believers walk. Its tough to console and be an encourager when it seems evil wins unjustly.

    Absolutely Amazing and Encouraging!
This book greatly expanded my understanding of the authority and power we have as Christians. He uses stories and examples to illustrate truth in a fresh new way. This book is fascinating to listen to and easy to read. My confidence in my God-given authority and abilities as his child has greatly increased. A Christian who wants to expand their understanding of the supernatural must read this book! I highly recommend it!
    Life changing revelation
This is one of the powerful books about the supernatural lifestyle I've ever read.
This book is clearly revelation knowledge and understanding from God, made plain for those who would hear.
My expectations have been challenged and my heart is engaged.
    Real Bold Revelation
This is extremely informative and interesting. This is what you will not hear in most churches. It is Truth and it is refreshing. Always more!
    so thankful
I really received from this book. you will grow in love when you listen. Jesus brings people into your life to grow in Him.
    Great book!
I really loved this book! Kris Vallotton is amazing. The only thing I wasn't a fan of is the reading. Don't get me wrong, I think that Mohr did a good job! I have heard Kris Vallotton preach though and he has a way about his speech. I dont know how anyone could do justice to that, but that's the only thing I wasn't a fan of. The reader still did a good job though.

This audiobook will show you how to train your mouth to speak words that will make you an overcomer in this life. It emphasizes that speaking the word of God must be coupled with living a life of complete obedience in order to see the power of God flow.

    Be honest
This book is timely, interesting and it convicts the reader. Since you picked up this book because you acknowledge you or we (I cannot exclude myself) have a mouth situation, the work is laid out for us and I expect it won't be easy. Mrs Meyers says this is a lifelong journey that cannot be done without God.
Or maybe you picked up this book to help someone else? I say they first have to acknowledge the have a problem, but you can read it for them I guarantee you will get revelation from this read.
The nuggets of Scripture shared were right on time. From the audible version it was very easy to bookmark the spot or write a note to save any Scripture shared. The book format has all Scripture listed in the back outstanding.
I believe this book will bless anyone wanting to speak to others with grace, want to understand where complaining, gossiping, grumblings and murmurs come from, as well as wanting to be a mouthpiece for God.
I'm on my third listen and it won't be the last.
    Convicting, but positive and encouraging.
Joyce Meyers communicates biblical principles in an easy to understand and in a practical manner. I think the subject of Godly talk is much needed in our age.
    Inspiring
Would you listen to Me and My Big Mouth! again? Why?
Yes! and I Have ! because you just can't get it right the first time
    Which scene was your favorite?
A number of scenes were my favourite - because it speaks to a lot of the issues i am currently dealing with
    What a Great resource!
Such a great resource for scripture based truths we all need ,and is readily available. I sent it to almost all my siblings.
    Right under our noses
I loved this book Me and My Big Mouth . Joyce Myers shows us with back up from the Bible that our words are used by the devil to cause evil. How relatable this book is not just as everyday people but as world leaders. This is a book that I appreciate and will listen to again.

  • The Insanity of Obedience Audiobook by Nik Ripken, Barry Stricker

    Title: The Insanity of Obedience
Subtitle: Walking with Jesus in Tough Places
    Author: Nik Ripken, Barry Stricker
    Narrator: Joe Geoffrey
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 9 hrs and 44 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-23-15
    Publisher: christianaudio.com
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 140 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
All Christian disciples have one thing in common: As they carry the Gospel across the ocean and across the street, persecution will become the norm for those who choose to follow Jesus. How believers respond in the face of persecution reveals everything about their level of faith and obedience.
The Insanity of Obedience is a bold challenge to global discipleship. Nik Ripken exposes the danger of safe Christianity and calls listeners to something greater. The Insanity of Obedience challenges Christians in the same provocative way that Jesus did. This book dares you - and prepares you - to cross the street and the oceans with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Some of Jesus' instructions sound uncomfortable and are potentially dangerous. We may be initially encouraged by his declaration, "I am sending you out." But how are we to respond when he then tells us that he is sending us out "like sheep among wolves"? In light of the words of Jesus, how can modern-day believers rest comfortably in the status quo? How can we embrace casual faith in light of the radical commands of Jesus, which are anything but casual?
Ripken brings decades of ministry experience in some of the most persecuted areas of the world to bear on our understanding of faith in Jesus. The Insanity of Obedience is a call to roll up your sleeves...and to follow and partner with Jesus in the toughest places on this planet.
"We have the high privilege of answering Jesus' call to go," Ripken says. "But let us be clear about this: We go on his terms, not ours. If we go at all, we go as sheep among wolves." Jesus gives us himself. And he gives us the tools necessary for those who dare to journey with him.

    More than rocks the boat!
This book's precursor, Insanity of God, rocked the boat, but Insanity of Obedience threw me out of it.
    Life changing
Your life will be enriched and radically changed by the truth told in this book. A must read for everyone who calls themselves a follower of Jesus.
    A great lesson for believers
We all get focused on our own world & tend to think that everywhere is like our little world. How untrue what a great experience seeing into the world of those that have not heard the gospel
    Challenged me greatly!
I loved this book, but it was painful to read because it showed how short I come from being a dedicated disciple of Jesus.
It is a must read for any person interested in missions and discipleship.
Every Christian MUST read this book!!
Yes. It is that powerful!!!!!! How to live with a eternal perspective. Are we willing to die for our faith? Do you care about being "safe"? Does it matter? Before reading this book, you must first read the Insanity of God! Both books are on my top 5. If you have a passion for the Muslim world, you must read both books!

Any book that can bring out the thoughts and reasons and struggles of our church Father's and Saints is and will always be excellent! quotes from various men down thru history. from "our churchmen" alive in the faith certainly point to the oneness of our faith. The One Holy and Apostolic Church. Indeed. " Hold fast to the traditions" cf.
    2 Thessalonians 2:15. and 1 Cor. 11:2
Helpful for Catholics looking to fight demons.
This book was helpful and instructive. though not a Catholic myself, it helped me understand that approach to spiritual warfare and deliverance. Full of usfull prayers and scripture.
    Just what I needed
Will keep listening to this. Narrator easy to listen to one of my favourite books
    Excellent
Very useful book. It gave me encouragement and taught me with specific examples how to improve my spiritual life.
Great and to the point information
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes
    Any additional comments?
The audiobook falls slightly short of the print version, in that you can reference the prayers he has listed straight from the print edition, but this was otherwise amazing and to the point information about the tactics satan uses to tempt us, and our best defenses against them

    Publisher's Summary:
In the darkest hour of the darkest age, Christian monks developed a meditation tradition unique in the Western world. A 14th-century author described their profound mystical experience as entering the cloud of unknowing. Yet during the 500 years after this great monastic flowering, this precious tradition and the direct path to union with God it described was virtually lost.
For decades Father Thomas Keating, together with other monks, examined this great question: Could anyone enter the cloud of unknowing through a prayer practice specifically created to attain it? Keating reached back in time for clues about the prayer forms of the Christian mystics. He synthesized his work into a Centering Prayer method that has helped thousands of seekers travel the contemplative path to divine union.
From infancy, Father Keating teaches, we accumulate emotional layers, or programs, as a result of traumatic experiences. The practice of Centering Prayer engages directly with the unconscious and loosens old traumas that hinder your spiritual development. This form of divine therapy draws from a contemplative method that has brought profound inner transformation into the lives of thousands of practitioners.
The Contemplative Journey is Father Thomas Keating's great masterwork: a complete curriculum devoted to a Christian path for achieving the still point of resting in God.

    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
The Teachings of Meister Eckhart: An Invitation to Experience God in Every Moment
The 13th-century mystic Meister Eckhart was the most brilliant Christian scholar of his day, but he was also legendary for the way he opened listeners to the direct experience of God during his public talks. Today, his written wisdom remains alive as ever, ready to illuminate us. With Meister Eckhart's Living Wisdom, James Finley, one of today's best-known teachers of the Christian contemplative tradition, invites us into Eckhart's insights in the same way this luminary teacher delighted in sharing them - through the spoken word.
"The eye with which I see God is the eye with which God sees me."
If the Divine dwells in all things, including ourselves, then why do we experience His presence only in fleeting moments, if at all? How do we let go of the illusions that imprison us to discover direct and felt liberation - not conceptually or in the afterlife but right here and now? These were the questions that compelled Meister Eckhart to reflection, spiritual practice, and discovery.
In this in-depth learning program, James Finley guides us through teachings and meditations for bringing Meister Eckhart's wisdom into our daily lives - to find for ourselves "the indestructible joy that that transcends even death", and to experience God not as a separate being but as the loving eternal center that sustains and embraces each of us and all of creation.

Love all of James Finley's works!
There is so much to receive from this book! And James Finley is the perfect soul to take you deeper!
    insightfullness
amazing insights and guidance towards a new way of seeing and living life to the fullest.
Meister Echart or just general spirituality?
What would have made Meister Eckhart's Living Wisdom better?
include more of Eckhart's complete quotes.
What was most disappointing about James Finleys story?
    It offers nothing new
It reads like any other "general" spiritual book
What makes Eckhart stand out? nothing according to the author. Anyone could have written a similar book.
    demanding of total attention!
Where does Meister Eckhart's Living Wisdom rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This isn't an easy exploration, but its profundity repays careful and repeated listenings. It touches on one's own most significant insights and deepens them.
What does James Finley bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?
James Finlay is an understanding guide whose 'presence' through his voice is reassuring and has a lyrical quality that adds to the experience. One also feels in company rather than grappling with these challenging texts alone.
    Any additional comments?
In the way that a great actor who really understands a difficult or archaic play can help you to do the same, I think James Finlay's own insights help to express those of Meister Eckhart.
attraction of what we already somehow know
If you could sum up Meister Eckhart's Living Wisdom in three words, what would they be?
    simply coming home
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
This is something I will listen to again and again and it needs, time, space and some reflection.

    Publisher: Oasis Audio

    Publisher's Summary:
What does it mean to be human? We've all heard it said: It's who you are that matters, not what you do. Really? Where do the scriptures teach that? After all, from the first page of the Bible forward, human beings were made to rule over the Earth, to gather up the raw materials of planet Earth, and to carve out a world. Theologically rich yet down to earth and practical, Garden City speaks to all of us who are searching for our calling in life or just trying to find meaning in the everyday. In the end this audiobook is an invitation to ask the ancient, primal, human question: Why am I here, and what should I do about it?

    Impactful
This has been the best book I've read in 5 years! I Loved it! Thank you!
    Phenomenal
Utterly phenomenal. Changed my life. John Mark Comer is a voice to a generation that longs to know the Father more and more. A voice for a generation that poses the tough questions ABOUT God, TO God, and gets answers FROM God.
    This book is life-changing.
    excellent voice recording
Overall, it's a good introduction to key themes in the Torah. Sometimes moves too quickly but excellent for devotions. Description of how his family celebrated Sabbath is worth the price of the book.
    Life changing
I am a highly career motivated college student and this book really refined the way I see calling and filled in some gaps where I had identified an emptiness of God and spiritual logic in my vocational journey. John Mark is also very nice to listen to, not at all monotone or overly emphatic.
Best popular level book on vocation out there.
What does John Mark Comer bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
A fantastic book on what it means to be human and the importance of our work in the world. It's rooted in the Creation story, relevant for our present day, and looks forward to the consummation of the present age when our culture making is uninhibited by sin and the curse. His chapter on Sabbath is also to be appreciated.
This book is an easy read. There's some theological depth but don't let that scare you off. John Mark is an accessible author who carries his readers along winsomely.
This book will be mandatory reading for future church staff.

    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
What if that person you've been trying to avoid is your best shot at grace today?
And what if that's the point?
In Accidental Saints, New York Times best-selling author Nadia Bolz-Weber invites readers into a surprising encounter with what she calls "a religious but not-so-spiritual life." Tattooed, angry and profane, this former standup comic turned pastor stubbornly, sometimes hilariously, resists the God she feels called to serve. But God keeps showing up in the least likely of people - a church-loving agnostic, a drag queen, a felonious Bishop and a gun-toting member of the NRA.
As she lives and worships alongside these "accidental saints," Nadia is swept into first-hand encounters with grace - a gift that feels to her less like being wrapped in a warm blanket and more like being hit with a blunt instrument. But by this grace, people are transformed in ways they couldn't have been on their own.
In a time when many have rightly become disillusioned with Christianity, Accidental Saints demonstrates what happens when ordinary people share bread and wine, struggle with scripture together, and tell each other the truth about their real lives. This unforgettable account of their faltering steps toward wholeness will ring true for believer and skeptic alike.
Told in Nadia's trademark confessional style, Accidental Saints is the stunning next work from one of today's most important religious voices.
    Critic Reviews:
"...compulsively readable...deftly explains why God's love should be the heart of every sacred (and secular) experience....[Bolz-Weber's] love for God and for humankind shines through on every page." (
    Publishers Weekly)
"I always feel narcissistic when I affirm writers who think like I do. But Nadia says it--and does it--so much better, with much more humor, more living examples, and a conviction that will convict you!" (Fr. Richard Rohr, O.F.M., Center for Action and Contemplation)
    Members Reviews:
    Irreverent Humor/ Ordinary Grace
What did you love best about Accidental Saints?
I'm good with a little irreverence. I like authentic confessional story telling. I love people who live Monday to Monday looking for wonder and are excited when they find it.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I've listened several times to the episode on speaking to the youth. I like the struggle to find what to say, the doubts about the audience, and the openness to find wisdom in an accidental encounter on a plane.
    Any additional comments?
I like the underlying thread throughout Nadia's two books, the struggle with ego when we are strong and our desire to hide when we are weak.
I also like her refusal to find God in only one kind of person. We're all bad and we're all good and God draws no lines across which he will not step.
    Well done!
    Grace beyond Mercy. Get it!
    Amazing amazing amazing.
Grace comes to those who don't hide brokenness in the bushes of Eden.
Moving call to owning your whole self.
"Jesus is running my (butt) down"
"Confessional Style" is the phrase I should have noticed in the blurb.
This book is too much about the author for me. Everything is about how God affects her, her faith journey, and to some extent people around her, but it's so centered on her. I expected something more outreachy or more universal, I guess.

You must be stable, fixed, and firmly planted in God in order to survive this unstable world. We all know people who sometimes act in polar opposites: the minister who is godly, prayerful, and holy at times yet has periods of sin and perversion; the person who is outgoing and cheerful yet falls into bouts of withdrawal and depression; or the person who is gentle and kind yet has periods of outburst and rage. Unshakeable is a teaching unlike any other from best-selling author John Eckhardt, and it will help you break the most binding, demonic force: double-mindedness.
