Great start to a new series

Quite good. Very entertaining.

Great characters that kept me interested. So much so that I couldn't put it down. I liked the references to the Duke's Men from the previous series.

Great narration!!

I'm glad this is the first in a series so we have more to look forward to.

Decent story and good narration.

I liked this story, it was fun and interesting. I liked the heroine, Yvette, She had spunk and personality, strong and witty, not a simpering whiny heroine. Such a relief. I liked Jeremy too. He was pretty straight forward character.

The chemistry between the two was very good. There was a couple well written sex scenes so it's not a rated G book, not erotica either.

The story line and plot was decent. The dialogue was great, and there was lots of it!.

This is no Hellions of Halstead series (that was my favorite Sabrina Jeffries series to read not the audible) But it was decent enough.

As for the narration, I liked, I think Beverly Crick is growing on me, She does make the men sound like men and all the characters have their own distinct voice. She has a nice reading voice too. She seems to get better and better.

Good but lacked something

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend it for the story but not for the narration. The narration somehow lacked the passion that should have permeated the dialog.

The story was intriguing, the dialog clever and the characters fairly well developed but I just didn't believe the relationship between the couple.

As I said earlier there was something lacking in the narration.

Great Story Semi-Related to the Duke's Men Series!

I had no idea this book and its characters were somewhat related to The Duke's Men series. Specifically, the hero is Jeremy who we were first introduced to in How a Scoundrel Seduces. He is Lady Zoe's cousin from America who is an artist and a rogue and traveling the world to perfect his art. I really enjoyed listening to Jeremy's back story and watching him fall in love with a bright, compassionate, and very unorthodox woman.

LOVED THIS BOOK

This is the first book I've read from this author and I've feel in love with her stories and will definitely be reading more from her. This book was great you will laugh and cry and fall in love with the characters. If you love cowboys this series is one to add to you library.

A Story You Won't Want to Miss!

A story so poignant you won't want to put it down. Korey loved and lost, but Reed is there to pick up the pieces and turn this story in the right direction. You'll laugh, blush, and choke up time and again over this gem of a novel.

Hands down an AMAZING READ!

I love absolutely everything about this book. The storyline sucked me in from the first chapter and I couldn't quit listening until it was complete. I was then left with the feeling of why there isn't more books about this beautiful family and the love story! Now I am working on the southern boy series. Hands down a must read in my opinion. Just enough erotica to get arousal, but not enough to make you feel like you just walked into a 50 shades of gray knock off!

Forgiving Reed

The narrator was great with the soft southern voice of Kori.

Kori came home broken and a mother. Her sweet baby boy is what kept her going from the devastating loss of little Rhett's father. Her parents were there. Friends and her best friend were there. So was the man who broke her teenage heart. She had to go on no matter how broken she was from her recent loss. Finally, she forced herself to go out of the house again. Who did she see? Reed. She gave him a piece of her mind and left.

There were ups and downs. Little by little her heart began to beat again. Her son was her chance of joy and he deserved more. The family helped. Friends helped. Yet, Reed was the one who finally held her while she cried out her pain. It was the beginning of her new life. She learned he wasn't the same immature teen from before.

Did they have a chance? Could they be a family?

To say there were ups and downs is too simplistic. In fact, if I have any issues with the story, maybe just a few too many problems that seemed to permanently pull them apart.

Her best friend is a riot. Together they are fierce. The parents are truly good people as are most of the friends. There's a real piece of work who wants to tear them apart.

Cry a little, laugh a little, and enjoy this story.

A must read or listen

I had to listen to the second book, it exciting and keep me on the edge of my seat. I would recommend these books, you will not want to have them end.

Sassy, brutal and totally believable.

Love the interaction between Jake and Luna. Sometimes Luna seems a bit too clueless and Jake too Alpha, but it works. Often very funny interspersed with danger and trust issues.

Awesome voice, awesome story.

Loved this story, and the narrator does a wonderful job as the male and female, its not awkward to listen to. Definitely recommend this read/listen. There are twists, and not your typical romance read.

flashbacks question

I have read both books and I have to say I was not impressed with Luna she was always saying she loved him but never trust him she was so busy trying to be defiant that was the whole book. would have been nice if the women and the brothers would have met up in the book tie them all together

Omg I just can't get enough

I am so in love with all the characters in this series I cry and laugh I just can't get enough. X has such a dirty mouth and is so head over heels in love with his poppet lol just gotta love them

And better with each book, this series have me thinking, dreaming talking 24/7 about it. I can't stop reading or listening to it most of the hours. Alexander and Clara really know how to heat it up constantly. This is one of those series that you back and read it all over again and again

I know I'm the dummy who bought this book even after I read all of the reviews about this not being Erotica, but rather an out and out horror story. I don't know what I thought- maybe I assumed that the other reviewers were just over sensitive and I was much more open-minded. Well, now I know--this is horrible, not romantic or arousing in any way, shape or form. This is a story of a merciless sub-human man who convinces himself that he is helping a woman by kidnapping her and then gets off on not only physical abusing her but also (and maybe this is what makes it so hard to like this book), mentally and emotionally degrading her. It is not submission or control as a means to some sort of sexual or passionate connection. It is really a pathological rapist, without a shred of humanity. And that is what is really missing here, the "hero" doesn't have the inner core of trust or virtue that would make the listener like him at least a little. He just enjoys breaking her over and over, although he says that isn't' what he wants, everything points to fact that he does. He likes degrading her, and making her crawl and beg for basic needs like food, water, warmth, and safety. He smiles when she cringes or whimpers.

The story doesnt even make sense; he is supposedly saving her from being raped by the drug lords that are looking for her. But he rapes her repeatedly and while the drug lords probably would have done the same, given the choice I think Id go with them.

Much better story line, but especially a different narrator

If youve listened to books by Carolyn Faulkner before, how does this one compare?

Not as interesting as others I've read.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Every phrase ended with a lower pitch and a pause, so each phrase sounded like a disconnected sentence, quite a dead presentation. I couldn't finish listening because the narration drove me crazy.

Didn't care for it. They liked to act like there is a story but it is all about either talking about sex, thinking about sex, or wanting sex, all throughout. I like the girl to be a little hard to get before they hookup the first time but Izzy never played hard to get even though she tried to act like she was with her smart mouth. It is like the only reason she couldn't resist him is all due to the sex - not any emotional attachment. And I am not into the whole male dominance thing with the guy ordering the girl throughout the entire thing - or the part I listened to - I couldn't finish it. Plus he kind of pushed her into the anal sex they had. I thought he should have let her build up to it for a few days. Nope wasn't my thing. Sex was the main connection. Yeah not going to try any of the others in the series.

Love Izzy

God this book had it all!!! Action, adventure and love! Wish all the books were like this. Don't get me wrong this whole series is great! Well worth the credit and or the money!

Great book.

I loved this book. the storyline was awesome. I couldn't put it down. I just love Izzy's no nonsense attitude. A little disappointed in the ending.

Let the chase begin

I started this series from the beginning. I have loved each and every book. Reading about the Gallo family can really warm your heart. There is such an amazing connection between the Gallo family. I love that the men in the Gallo family love their women hard. I also love Izzy which is who the book is about. She is sassy, boss, and very demanding. You would think being a strong that she was that she would have not fear, but she does.

I did try using the whispersync feature with this book but ended up having to just follow along with the audio. Amazon just was not working with me. I tried on several Kindles. I will say this, the narrators did a wonderful job.

Izzy is almost to brave for her own good. She does not like being bossed around and does not like taking advice. She will make some bad choices in this book and find herself in danger. She is not only putting her life in danger but others as well. Sorry want to know more well I guess you will have to read the book.

We got to meet James in a previous book. The chemistry between James and Izzy was something. I just loved James. He was working with Izzys brother trying to help keep him safe. He was good friends with Thomas. I just loved how James was determined not to give up on Izzy.
