Gentle, Refreshing Tale of the GOOD Kind of Love
Although this is the FIRST in The BlackBerry County Chronicles, it's the second one I've listened to . . . and I thoroughly enjoyed it . . . the gentle spirit of God's love shines through in these books . . . not the "beat you over the head" kind of Christianity . . . but the grace and kindness of the "come along side you" and "share your burden" love that Christ himself taught and practiced. The folks of Crispens Cove are funny, close, and quirky. . . and they accept Charlotte, their new resident writer with genuine neighborly love. As in all small towns, everyone knows everyone else's business and the news that Charlotte writes "romance" novels, spreads like wild fire . . . and the pastor soon takes that to mean that Charlotte writes some steamy stuff!!! That little knot takes quite some time to get untangled . . . I found the first book in the series to be just as good as the second one . . . and I'm looking forward to listening to Book Three!
    A Really Enjoyable Story
Where does Crispens Point rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I would rank it highly. It is a book I would re-listen to.
What did you like best about this story?
I felt like the story took place in a culture that I understand. It is not the super-charged naughty romance stories that seem to be popular. This is the sort of story that could have happened to someone I know. On another note, its also the sort of story I could play for our whole family to listen to without feeling like it was silly like so many Christian romance stories seem to be these days.
Did Crystal Sershen do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
I was not as impressed with this narrator as I was with the person who read for the second book. This reader was slightly sing-songy at times. However, as I thought about it by giving each book a different narrator perhaps the thought was to give each book its own voice.
If you could take any character from Crispens Point out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Charlotte. I feel that she and I could have been friends if I knew her in real life.
    Any additional comments?
I listened to the 2nd book before listening to this, the first book in a series. First off, I can say that though they have characters in common, I think they each stand alone rather well. From the very beginning of the book, I liked and understood the Character of Charlotte. I also liked the secondary characters, I thought they were written with real flaws and brought humor without being ridiculous in their descriptions, words and/or actions.

    Title: The Last Nephilim
    Author: William Guy
    Narrator: Sam Williamson
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 11 hrs and 45 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-24-13
    Publisher: William Guy
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 91 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Religious & Inspirational
    Publisher's Summary:
Is it possible that the mythical gods of polytheistic Greece, Egypt, Assyria, etc. were actual people that lived shortly after the flood of Noah? The Last Nephilim is a work of historical fiction based upon the first chapters of the book of Genesis and several ancient apocryphal texts. The Bible presents the sons of Noah as monotheistic followers of the God of the universe. So how did their grandchildren end up reigning over polytheistic empires? What happened? This story presents the Nephilim of Genesis chapter six as gifted giants that essentially promoted worship of themselves as deities to post-flood human populations.
The Bible asserts that monotheism was before polytheism, but there is no clear explanation as to why polytheism became so prevalent such a short time after the flood. This audiobook describes one possible explanation as to what may have occurred to have resulted in the explosion of polytheism. Written in a beautiful, scholarly fashion. This is refined, provocative look at events in history.

Was Hoping For Theological Fiction, but.....
    Any additional comments?
While I am not even the slightly religious type, I do love historical fiction of all types and the premise of this book intrigued the hell out of me. Unfortunately, after a fantastic opening to the book, it fell into a very "preachy" novel spending what seemed to be a fourth of it's time reinforcing the love of god.....over and over. While there was the occasional entertaining chapters here and there, overall the book felt more Sunday sermon than theological fiction, plodding along like it had 45+ hours to tell it's story. The Epilogue was even more disappointing.
The reading of the book was spotty as well. The narrators phrasing in the first few chapters was odd to say the least, though it got better as the book progressed.
Actual rating would have been 1 for story, 2 for narration - 1.5 overall.
No need for a sequel here.
    A good listen, fiction
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is fiction that doesn't conflict with scripture... takes the I can not conform nor deny approach. The author uses characters in the Bible and invents characters for his story. This is a kind of what if tale that doesn't take a major turn from the reality of God and the Bible. I enjoyed the tale and hopes Mr. Guy will continue the tale.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Melchizedek- Reminds me of Jesus the Christ.
Pursues, has a desire to serve God but his lack of self-control and his desire to be seen in a positive light by his superiors and his peers reminds me of me.
Which character as performed by Sam Williamson was your favorite?
Pursues - Mr. Williamsons' changing voice patterns and inflections were wonderful and keeps the narration lively.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
11 hours is a long time to listen to anything but it was hard to put down. I brought this audio on an evening after work about mid-week and finished it on that Saturday.
    Any additional comments?
Some that haven't read their Bible, or maybe the book of Genesis, in a while may think that this book conflicts. It doesn't, this fiction takes place a century or so after the flood Pursues' great grandfather was a son of Noah. The story line takes place sometime after the death of Nimrod.

    Members Reviews:
    Great story
The plot of the story is well thought and has moments that catch you off guard. However, the narration was not spliced together as well as it should. Several instances throughout of repeated phrases as if they were trying to make it better. Doesn't detract from the story.
After seven years they have found her, no escape.
What did you love best about Redeeming Grace?
It was an exciting and interesting story. The characters had a lot of depth and I really felt like I got to know the characters in this book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Grace was, it's her story and so you really get to know her and experience things right along with her.
What about Jeff Conwells performance did you like?
I thought he did a great job bringing the characters to life.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A bad choice seven years ago has haunted her ever since, and now they have found her, there is no where left to run.
    Good story but........
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Way to wordy. I found that I was fast-forwarding through chapters to get to the knitty-gritty parts of the story.
What did you like best about this story?
The theme of the story was good.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jeff Conwell?
I really don't know. Maybe someone who has a southern accent already would be good.
Do you think Redeeming Grace needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
A follow-up book would be okay as long as it is not drawn out.
    Enjoyable
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The reader.... at times it sounded mechanical and monotone. Had to work hard to press pass that!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Redeeming Grace?
    When she's escaping.
What didnt you like about Jeff Conwells performance?
    Mechanical & Monotone.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    Maybe.
    Any additional comments?
    - Good story
    - A couple of times it was a little slow
    - I liked the fact that they kept it clean
    Great Storyline
What did you like best about this story?
The story line was fantastic there were just facts that were wrong in the beginning and it basically ruined the book for me.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The accents were very stereotypical and negative.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Redeeming Grace?
The scenes were ok just needed to be written better.
    Any additional comments?
The story was great but need to make sure time lines are right and just written better. I loved the story though and that kept me hooked until the end but I was just put off by the narrator and by certain incorrect facts.

I would not recommend for young readers but I would HIGHLY recommend to someone who likes Amish/Mennonite fictions this story has all the elements kept me totally glued thru the whole book full of relationships and conflicts mercy and redemption this is NOT a boring book
    The Outcast
Would you consider the audio edition of The Outcast to be better than the print version?
I enjoy the audio much more than the print as it adds extra depth to the story.
What about Tavia Gilberts performance did you like?
The narrator did an excellent job reading and voicing the characters. My favorite character she voiced was Ida Mae.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
This was easy to listen and follow. The narrator did an excellent job with the Amish accents.
    Any additional comments?
I'm looking forward to hearing many more books narrated by this artist.
    Powerful story, amazing narrator
Would you consider the audio edition of The Outcast to be better than the print version?
Yes. Tavia Gilbert does an amazing job narrating. She added to the experience.
What did you like best about this story?
    Powerful story about forgiveness.
Which character as performed by Tavia Gilbert was your favorite?
    All of them!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried. The story and the narration were a perfect combination to bring out emotions.
    Any additional comments?
I went searching for more books by Petersheim and more books narrated by Gilbert.
    excellent story and narrator
If you could sum up The Outcast in three words, what would they be?
    engaging, touching and compelling.
What other book might you compare The Outcast to and why?
    The scarlet letter
    Which scene was your favorite?
When Amos talks to his son and helps him to see that he is also to blame for what happened with Rachel.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes couldn't stop listening until it was finished.
    Good read but...
A little weird with the storytellers. Amos is one person telling the story, and he's....dead. Which was, a bit different. And he's got some very strange accent that sounds like he's from Tasmania or an unidentifiable country.
Rachel is the other story teller, who is delightful to listen to. Tavia Gilbert is an excellent narrator, so I give her 5 big stars for her performance. I guess the story being told by the dead man wasn't my cup of tea.

    A Deeper Look
This book threw me for a loop. I was amazed at the parallel way in which the author was able to tell a story about a work environment that completely described the different levels that church members fall into. He intrigues you into looking into the purpose of why you believe what you believe through watching the lives and reactions of those within the different levels. He is the author of other best selling books like "Dinner With A Perfect Stranger", and "A Day With A Perfect Stranger". These books are all Awesome in their ability to pull you from your distracted circumstances of everyday life and cause you to focus on the reality of the purpose of your life and taking a second look at where you stand and where you are going. David Gregory is a top author in my opinion that will draw you deeper into your relationship with Christ.
I have recommended and lent out these books. Great read and reread.
This book required a little more time to understand the metaphor, at first, but once I got there, it was a powerful word picture. I couldn't stop reading it and will probably read this several times.
I have recommended these books to many people in my life and I continuously lend them out. I believe this author explains, in an everyday casual manner, many salient points of real Christianity for both Christians and non Christians.
A Mystery Until The Very End
Here David Gregory turns his attention from the individual's walk with Jesus Christ to the Church. The book is a metaphor for different 'levels' of participation by its members. The author crafted his work so the reader is pretty well kept in the dark until the last few pages. Thus a caution: Stick with his thesis, you will be fully rewarded with deeper insights into the Lord's purpose for the Church.
    Worthy Read
    Provocative allegory about true Christianity.
An modern story for the classic "a Pilgrims progress "
The story is too far fetched and not nearly as fascinatingly could-be-true as "dinner with a perfect stranger . A bit of a forced parable for the other half of the gospel message .Only suitable for christian readers

    Good clean christian book
I enjoyed hearing the history of the Amana colony. I have been there many times. The history of the Amish was very interesting. The characters were easy to connect with. Thank you for no sexual content. I recommend this author
It is a clean faith based story
I enjoyed the story, but not the writing style. It's a insight into a life style we don't get to view of German Christians in the early years. Dovie's mother had died and Dovie's father was selling their home and moving to Texas, where a job was waiting for him. Dovie had asked her father if she could go back to the community where her mother had grown up in, and stay with her cousin and learn about her mother's life. Dovie felt that her mother had been keeping something a secret, and was very sad most of Dovie's life. Dovie was excepted by her cousin Barbara, husband George and daughter Karlina.
While some enjoy this author's style of writing, I have to say, for me, the style tends to drag, and not fluid. I thought the story was to be Dovie's story too. The story ended up switching between Dovie and Karlina and the story also ending up with more of Karlina's and her wedding, and just the hint of Dovie's to be 2 weeks later. I thought this was Dovie's story and the last chapter, and epilogue should have been centered more around Dovie, not as a build up to Karlina's ending. Plus, during the story, first you are reading about Dovie and then the next chapter, or more, the author goes to Karlina and notes the switch with the date and name as the chapter title, jumps right in. If you hadn't paid attention to the title,, you soon looked so you knew what/who/where was being talked about. I felt like I was reading 2 stories at the same time. Maybe it's just a mood I'm in, I got frustrated at times and needed to take a break, I didn't have the drive of not wanting to put it down, as I do with other styles of writing. It is a clean faith based story, and I found that very enjoyable , that give a glance into their life style. I recommend the book for those that enjoy reading Amish base stories.
    A Hidden Truth
I finished this book last night and it was a quick read. I have enjoyed every one of the Home to Amana books Judith has written, an this one is just as good as the others.

    Great books
When I first started reading prophet, i was amazed at how truly good it was, it had a good plot, original characters and the way the story is told just draws you in. Now that I've finished the second book, I can't wait to get the third.
Although a word of warning, there are time In which headphones would be good.
Best series I've read in years
I just can't say enough good about this book and series. I hardly have any constructive criticism for it either. Such a well done story line and the charcter development over the last two books has been very well done. I haven't been able to stop listening!

    Wonderful story for all!!
This is a precious story of the great power of prayer in many lives. The family who lost their daughter to stillbirth, the family whose daughter was lost to the world of drugs, and a family whose baby daughter was getting sicker and sicker despite constant medical care.
Two neighbors found themselves visiting Israel with a tour group, but deciding to go out on their own so they could get closer to their Lord. When visiting the Wailing Wall with their prayers, they met a stranger who changes all their lives.
Great story of prayer and faith!!

    Feel good story
Loved this book! it was a quick read but such a good feel story. I would highly recommend to read if you want to feel good and smile after reading it. It takes quite a bit to get a five star from me that is how good this story made me feel. Yes, it has a religious tone to it but so what!? Why should that make it bad or good for that matter. I did NOT notice a lot of errors and I did not see any offensive language so I don't know why some reviews said what they did. I will have to read some more from this author and see what other stories he writes.
    Gripping read
I was pleasantly surprised by the time I finished this short read, my introduction to the writing of Joshua Graham.
I was gripped by a man who had lost it all - largely by his own hand, having not set his priorities straight. Even so, as most people who don't realize the consequences of their actions until it's too late, he was distraught. I witnessed him at his most desperate moment, prayed he wouldn't be able to carry out his final act.
The turn of events which occurred after hearing a woman scream amazed me, taking me into a direction I should have seen coming but didn't; I was so caught up in the story that I didn't even think about the title.
The story made me think on so many levels that it will probably linger in my mind for a while. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of the typos; had there only been one or two, I would have overlooked them but, as it is, with good conscience, I could not.
    beautiful short story
I enjoyed this spiritual story from start to finish. Graham is a good writer, and I'm going to read more of his short stories as well as novels. There were a few mistakes his proofreader missed, but they didn't hurt the flow of words. I loves the Bible quotes, and the theme of hope and redemption. One must suspend disbelief, but that's the point.
    GET THIS AND READ IT!!!!!
By all means, get this book and read it as soon as you can! It is a definite must read for everyone. If you're down and feeling like you are bound to lose no matter what direction you are going, it will most probably put you in a much better frame of mind. If you aren't depressed, this short story will, without a doubt touch your heart. A definite MUST READ. Ignore the typos and just enjoy the story. Joshua Graham, you definitely surprised me, very pleasantly, I might add. Thank-you so much for writing this book!
    I was touched
I finished this book at 0330. It was pretty good. I really felt bad for poor David stuck in the rut he was in. I wish more people would believe in themselves and in God and have faith. If things go bad you don't have to spend the rest of your life tormenting yourself over the past.
I understand people are mean, cruel, evil and chasing the almighty dollar because its what the world wants you to do. But, if you look toward God, you realize life is about living for Him and not being mislead by the deceiver.
This guy gave up everything. A little girl had faith in him, she believed in him. she was so sweet to follow him anywhere he was going. all i could see was this little girl hugging her cat.
