Members Reviews:
More scheming and action that one can handle
S.E.A.R.CH is a book that was originally writing by Harrison Davies when he was a young child. Later in life, after writing two other stories, he decided to revisit his childhood story that he felt he needed to finish.
About S.E.A.R.CH:
Jack Simpson, a young man in his teens, is about to learn that everything that he knew about his family is a complete lie. After a day with friends, Jack finds his house swarming with police. His beloved father is missing. Everything comes down to the strange man that visited the house earlier in the morning. After Jack does his own snooping, he finds that his father was working on a secret project. Now itâs up to Jack to help save his father and the love of Jackâs life, Allie. Only problem is, the one person is hell bent on seeing
the destruction of them all.
To me, the story was about these essential characters: Jack, his father, Scorpio, S.E.A.R.CH
I really enjoyed the first half of the book. Jack and Allie are out to save his father. The way that they two were basically running for their lives and encountering trouble was perfect. I enjoyed learning about the speech enhanced audio recognition computer. Since the story was basically about a computer program being sought after by some really bad guys, it would had been nice to the program activated and do more functions, destruction or malfunctions in the story. It fascinated me about how the computer was capable of self destructing
and retinal scanning and stuff like that. This is cool gadgetry at work. I feel that maybe more computerized tech coolness needs to be used.
About half way through the book, take on a whole new cast of characters. The main characters that we see in the beginning fade in the background. We now are learning about the inspectors, the bad guys, people involved in the rescue. Granted, the main characters are in here, just not that much. To me it felt like I was reading a second book about the time Scorpio was being introduced. During the second half, this was just as adventurous as the beginning. Iâd say
it was probably more than even the beginning. There is more detail in the scheming and rescue mission.
I could envision this being a spy type series book. Leave the reader hanging and wanting to get the next book to find out what Jack, his father, Scorpio and the rest are up to. Plus, develop the technology more. It would fascinate the kids as well as the adults that read.
In all, these are my opinions. It is a good book.
