Awesome bundle

This is the cutest book for kids. We got this as a gift for my nephew and Im sure this will occupy him for hours. I'm definitely getting another one for my daughter!!!

Travel via Paintings!

A pleasant childrens book. Could it be the beginning of a series? It is a stand alone book, but this could be a modern Magic Tree House spin off for the newer generation! I mean, it is longer in length than that series ...

Magical sunglasses allow the wearer to enter into paintings. Persons and landscape become real and interactive. Perhaps the painter, as well.

The first half few chapters were light as it introduced the reader to the main characters of the book.

The second half became more serious.

Reconciliations, relationships, and reality triumphing over running away are touched upon with delicacy without lecturing.

The major conflict of the bullying and the stolen cash box was left open-ended, without a permanent resolution, odd for books written for which the age group this is geared.

More of a 3.5 star book. Narrator was good (although I altered the speed to 1.25) and bumped it to 4 stars.

Charming adventure for kids

While the story was an interesting adventure for kids, I was too distracted by the narration and had to listen to the book twice as my mind kept wandering from the story. The second time around, I concentrated hard on following the story and enjoyed it. Mind you, there isn't anything wrong with the narrator, and the recording was professional. I imagine she'd do quite well on an adult novel, but I found her to be too slow for a children's book. I couldn't imagine her engaging children with her, slow, calm voice. In my opinion, a children's narrator should be lively and encourage adventure. I just didn't find it in here. **I received this book free in exchange for an honest review**

Fun concept for book perfect for elementary kids

I really liked the concept of this book - being able to enter a painting with a special pair of sunglasses. There are lots of paintings I would love to enter and escape to. I listened to this audiobook with my 7- and 8-year old kids. There were a few parts we all enjoyed, and my kids said that it was a good book overall, but it didn't really stick with them - the concept was memorable, but not necessarily the details. I was not a huge fan of the narrator because there was not much excitement in her voice. I feel like more excitement from the narrator would have made for a much more engaging experience for the audience. Overall, I did enjoy the book (as did my kids), and I think this would be very appropriate for elementary school kids as they will find much to relate to.

A Super Cute Children's Story

Konrad and the Birthday Painting was a cute listen. The author, Sandra R. Andersson did a terrific job writing this story.

That it is influential like the first edition. It motivates and delivers meanings that would change any kids life. The morals it gives each person that listen is priceless. I couldn't imagine a better story to buy my kids.

TV and Movies versions were good, but the book is better. . .

One of my co-workers encouraged me to read this since I have only seen the TV/Movie versions. It was a quick read and very enjoyable. Fortunately, the TV/Movie versions weren't too far off the mark. Regardless, there were facets of the story that you would only get through the book, which is why reading the book will always be my favorite option.

BAH! HUMBUG!! "God bless Us, Every One"

A Christmas Carol is a beloved Christmas favorite. Nothing says Christmas like favorite Christmas stories. This timeless tale has been told in many versions. Iâve seen the movie and play but Iâve never read the book. I thought it was about time to finally read this tale.

The illustrations throughout the book were fun to look at. Not common to find illustrations in books today unless they are children stories.

Lots of great quotes come from this story but the most famous is BAH! HUMBUG! followed by:

"God bless Us, Every One!"

Standalone

As great to read vs as to watch as a production.

We've enjoyed many kinds of productions of this classic Scrooge story. The original makes us 'rise to the occasion' - or at least gets us to mentally take the time to step back in that era. Life was so different, so the real factor is (I think) a little richer, than already assembled viewables. Emotional, and the older language adds some incentive to digging into the story.

A must read!

Dickens has always intimidated me. Somehow, I made my way through high school and college without having to read one of his novels. Finally, a few weeks before Christmas, I decided to give this a try when I learned it is relatively short. I figured if it took some work, at least it wouldn't take all that long. I'm sorry I waited so long. It was impossible for me to separate this from the many versions of A Christmas Carol I've seen over the years. I loved it. I enjoyed the glimpse into the time and place of the story. The story and theme are, of course, legendary.

Don't be intimidated. This is a book everyone should read at least once.

Classic I Know

I have tried this one before and was distracted within the first five chapters but with the advise of a colleague I am going to attempt this one again. I am late 30's and sometimes have a tough time focusing for long spans of time unless the story is captivating from the get go, you have to appreciate writing for the sake of verb-age and description to get into this. So, because it is a classic and I think the classics should be read - I'll give it another go but not looking forward to it despite the wonderful reviews. Hated Pride and Prejudice too - just depends on personal taste I suppose. Loved The Divine Comedy....
