Title: Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There

Author: Lewis Carroll

Narrator: Julia McKenzie

Format: Unabridged

Length: 3 hrs and 10 mins

Language: English

Release date: 11-19-15

Publisher: silksoundbooks Limited

Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 3 votes

Genres: Kids, Ages 5-7

Publisher's Summary:

This is the story of Alice's second visit to Wonderland, where again every idea Alice has of logic and reason is logically and rationally challenged by her adventures.

From the classic Red Queen, with her manic racing to enable her to stay exactly where she is, to the highly meaningful nonsense of the Jabberwocky, Alice's trip through the looking glass has provided us with a host of now familiar but no less teasing puzzles which somehow manage to give us a whole new reflection on 'normal' life.

The Best Kindle Option Available

I took a gamble on buying this edition when no one had reviewed it yet. I tried several other Kindle editions available and had found them truly appalling in terms of formatting. This however, is significantly better, featuring well structured chapter breaks and all the original illustrations, which enhance the story a lot.

Furthermore, considering it contains both books, plus the excellent Hunting of the Snark, it is a fantastic price.

However, there are still some glaring mistakes, such as some formatting bugs in a few of the poems and spelling errors in places (such as at the start of Looking Glass, where some of the Ls are replaced with 1s - I guess a scanner did the 'writing here').

5 stars for the great price and superior formatting over the other options. -1 star for the glaring lack of proof reading from the publisher.

Good book

A classic children's book that never gets old. I bought it for my daughter and we read a chapter every night. The only issue I have is that it's a little smaller than I expected, but that's okay.

Fun and ridiculous, as intended

Playful poetry may be more amusing for adults. In any case I finally learned about the Boogum. What fun! Theres some discussion that there is a hidden message in his poem. If so, I admit to it being way over my head!

Italicized Text?!

I really wanted to like this--the original illustrations are beautifully reproduced--but bizzarely, half the books are italicized in their entirety, making them pretty much unreadable. If this were fixed, I'd give this 5 stars.

Outstanding, of course.

There is nothing for me to add to the mountains of praise already out there for this masterpiece of nonsense literature â arguably the finest sustained piece there is, with only William Gilbert and Thomas Hood to rival it.

As the Victioran languge is sometimes a little dated, readers might care to go instead for Martin Gardnerâs Annotated verion that explains everything in detail (too much detail for some tastes).

Your child will enjoy this Halloween book full of eerie ghost stories and spooky tales. This is an excellent listen for early learners that can be heard aloud with friends and family while traveling or in waiting rooms. Halloween jokes are also included!

Halloween Stories and Jokes for Kids

Halloween Stories is a collection of ghost stories for children in grades k thru six. Told from first person POV, each story centers on a group of friends who go on spooky adventures during Halloween.

I enjoy Uncle Amonâs stories. The writing is engaging and filled with action, adventure and humor. Thereâs a nice mix of easy reading, combined with a bit of advanced vocabulary to challenge early readers. There are several cute and funny Halloween jokes at the end of this book, which Iâm sure kids will enjoy.

Iâd mention two things about Halloween Stories, however. First, I found that the stories seemed to end abruptly â almost as though they were from a chapter book and not a book of short stories. Second, although the book is labeled grades k thru six, kindergarteners will definitely need someone to read this book to them. This then made me wonder if young children might get bored without having any illustrations to look at for reference. Because of the lengthy text and lack of illustrations, Iâd say this book is more appropriately geared toward children aged seven and up.

Overall, Iâd have to say this book is worth downloading and reading.

My Grandson enjoyed all the stories

My Grandson enjoyed all the stories. I liked them too as they are about friendship and teaches that going "trick or treat" isn't all there is about having fun in Halloween. This one is for older children IMO. My grandson is almost 8. Can't go wrong with books by Uncle Amon. Recommend all his books.

which is perfect because my 11 year old was able to read ...

I was so thrilled to find this Halloween stories book for my kids before Halloween! There is 6 stories written for children ages 5-12, which is perfect because my 11 year old was able to read the stories to her younger siblings in the days leading up to Halloween. It also includes some Halloween coloring pages that I was able to print for the kids to enjoy.

Entertaining without being frightening.

Great stories that may be spooky, without being scary. Plus they let kids know that it is normal to be frightened by things that you don' t expect or fully understand.

Había una vez una princesa llamada Blancanieves;

Sus labios eran siempre rojos como las rosas;

Su madrastra la reina un espejo mágico tenía;

"¿Quién es la más bella del reino?" preguntó;

"Eres tú, mi Reina" el espejo obediente contestó.

Todos los días la misma respuesta obtenía;

"Blancanieves ha superado tu belleza;

Ella está llena de amabilidad y grandeza"

Sintió celos de Blancanieves por ser tan bella;

Le pidió a un cazador que de ella se deshiciera;

no quería que Blancanieves con vida siguiera.

"Quiero que lo hagas con mucha discreción;

Sin embargo el cazador su tarea no pudo cumplir;

pues deseaba que Blancanieves pudiese vivir.

Blancanieves se acercó a una cabaña escondida;

Ella no sabía que siete enanos adentro vivían;

Blancanieves despertó con un gran temor;

¿Quiénes eran esos pequeños a su alrededor?

The old woman picked up a duster, scraped the cupboard, swept the flour bin and gathered about two handfuls of flour. She mixed the dough with sour cream, fried it in butter, and put the bun on the window sill to cool.
