Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

well, i was so looking forward to listening to it but as it turns out, to me, reege is not a very good story teller--at times it was tedious and on several occasions i thought about deleting it--i wanted to hear more about his family, etc--i would recommend it but with reservations

Entertaining, and well told

Enjoyable book, perhaps not as enjoyable but because I am unfamiliar with many of the people Philbin speaks about. Not as extensive as other bios, but entertaining nonetheless. Positive outlook of Philbin makes this an inspirational read that will leave you happy and uplifted.

Definitely, spoken brilliantly by the REEG himself, no one could do it better, simply wonderful, the story comes to life, like reading could not... I WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT, THE WHOLE JOURNEY... Perfect delivery...

Regis himself, his recall of of precise details is amazing, and very entertaining, with wit and a sense of humor, that you grow to love...

Sincere and heart-warming

After going on a "Leprechaun" bender with friends, we really came to appreciate the relentless enthusiasm and commitment of Warwick Davis to his character, despite the absurdity and decreasing sanity of the franchise. I was vaguely aware that Davis had had a few other A-list movie roles and after discovering that he's been in all of my favorite movies, I couldn't *not* read his auto-biography!

And it was even better than I had expected. Mr. Davis' writers voice is kind, direct, unpretentious and full of natural wonder. As he describes his entry into the world of acting the listener can't help but be swept away by his enthusiasm and excitement. All of the behind-the-scenes descriptions of Star Wars are a delight and before long you find yourself really rooting for him and enjoying such a splendid career unfolding for such a hardworking actor.

Davis shares his obstacles and challenges as an actor and as a little person without candy coating, yet rarely voices an unkind word about his colleagues - a real class act.

The behind-the-scenes stories about Leprechaun were almost as funny as the films themselves. And the post-epilogue story about his last day on set of Harry Potter was so heart-warming. I imagine it's rare for an actor to also be a talented storyteller, so this memoir far exceeded my expectations.

Recommended for fans of any sci-fi / fantasy / comedy-horror in which Warwick Davis has acted.

Moving and Inspiring

Lee Evans, was one of the best comedians in the world of British Comedy untill his retirement and still today, his energetic performance is as electrifying as it is funny.

His life story takes thenlistener through some of his rare ups to the ultimate downs, illustrated by the charming voice of the narrator/author which lead to a great listen wherever you are.

Lee Evans is a true inspiration and anyone who calls themselves a real comedy fan should listen to this audio book immediately.

Excellent

Lee Evans reads this book as he lived it- with enthusiasm and great heart. His story is one of an exceptional person in very ordinary circumstances. He is all the more likeable for not recognising the extent of his talent.

The story of his life dashes along with brightly painted word portraits of the characters illustrating the path he takes. I found myself listening to the story over two days and feeling I knew Lee Evans and would love to have a pint down the pub in his company.

A charming book, and an unexpected treasure.

I'm so happy that I brought this audio book I don't know where to start, amazing read light humour and so funny keeps you laughing all the way through. It was a book that I really didn't want to stop reading it had you wanting to read more and more.

Honest and Entertaining

I heard Sue in various interviews discussing her book and I was not disappointed by it. (Unlike Ricky Tomlinson's) Her style is just as she is and her tales are warm and well told.

I would thoroughly recommend this book.

Fantastic autobiography

I am a huge fan of Sue Johnston and she is an exceptional actress who has been in many of my favourite television and film dramas. This autobiography is sensitively written, moving and honest; Sue clearly had the same insecurities and tensions in family relationships that we all have. I cannot recommend this highly enough - I listened to it twice in a row in my car on the way to work .

My best walking partner

I was given an MP3 player and my first Audible credit as a birthday present over a year ago, with a view to enhancing my daily (well - fortnightly) walks to attain more fitness. I have to say that as I walk up and down the steep hills of Hastings (much more frequently now), this honest, warm, and most down to earth account of Sue Johnston's life has given me wings. I literally haven't been aware of whether I'm climbing a hill or not - it's a wonderful listen. I liked Sue Johnston's appearances in The Royle Family and Waking the Dead before this download, but having been given insights into many facets of her life and of her personality, I feel the greatest respect and warmth towards her. It doesn't ooze sentiment in any way, as it's understated and narrated by the author with gentle, self-effacing humour.

Very Interesting and Impressive

Would you consider the audio edition of Who's Sorry Now to be better than the print version?

Haven't read the print version but I can't imagine it being better. Joey Pants does a great job narrating and throughout the book he even pauses and provides additional commentary that I dont think the print version would have.

Who was your favorite character and why?

His mother because she definitely reminded me of my crazy Italian mother from Newark, New Jersey.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was the scene where his grandfather shot the guy for spitting, only to find out the person who did this actually had a condition that forced him to spit a lot.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The deaths of his mother, father and step father really hit home but hearing that his father wasn't really his father definitely moved me considering he was only 12 at the time he heard this news while food shopping with his mother.

Overall, I thought this was a great book about his personal life. I just wish he included a little more about his acting. I would have loved to heard more about some of those great movies he was in such as Memento, The Matrix and LaBamba....

Bought on a whim, thinking this would be the story of his hollywood career, I was really surprised that Joe Pantoliano's first (and hopefully not last) book is a brilliant telling of his childhood growing up in a low class Italian New Jersey family.

Joey Pants recounts with great enthusiasm, tales filled with both great humour and heart wrenching sadness, including stories from his days bullied in the neighbourhood, his battle with dyslexia, and his often volatile family life.

it's amazing how people go through life with so many personal conflicts and are able to hide or suppress them. But to overcome them is something entirely different. look at yourself in the mirror without lying to yourself the way ray leonard did and conquer your biggest fears and conflicts. this book is simply amazing

The story of European colonial interference and the U.S. compromises in this time and place is a fascinating one, and all the more so in this book for being filtered through the secret history of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services), and in particular the role played by brilliant young women recruited from the Ivy League. They learn how to forge incriminating documents and plan elaborate subterfuges, all the while facing male condescension (all women in the OSS were girls, regardless of their age, rank, or responsibilities, notes Conant). Against this backdrop, Julia McWilliams falls for Paul Child, a not-altogether sympathetic operative besotted, like so many others, with Jane. The book comes into its own as the larkish tone of the early chapters (Jane worried about appearing like just another wealthy dilettante and youd be forgiven for agreeing with her assessment) gives way to a more darker portrayal of Janes growing disillusionment with her governments foreign policy, accusing them very publicly of breaking their promises to the peoples of the region and kowtowing to European interests. Her dark trajectory leads to accusations of spying for the Russians, returning the narrative to its opening focus on the McCarthy trials, which also ensnares the Childs. Conant, meanwhile, effortlessly interweaves less fraught moments such as Julias discovery of French cuisine.

Throughout the book, the depth and breadth of Conants research is astounding. She has extracted real, palpable life from letters, diaries, and as she reveals in the appendix recently decoded and declassified documents, allowing her to write about history with a novelists eye for detail. Stage veteran Jan Maxwell knows how to convey this mass of information without overwhelming us, speaking with a consistent tone that is as clear and precise as a stenograph. Her dedicated seriousness can border on the earnest, and her performance carries none of the sheer fun of the young Julia and Jane. But it is a worthy performance she delivers books combination of biography, romance, history, and geopolitics, and fully honors Conants admirable detective work.

Repetitive and Misleading

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Based on the title and cover picture, I was expecting something that focused on the romance on William and Kate. In fact, the first half of the book was almost William and Harry prior to college. It felt like there was almost more of Chelsea and Harry than there was William and Kate.

The story was repetitive. They used the same quotes multiple times and there was a lot of guessing on what people were feeling or doing with little to back it up.

The performance was pretty decent.

Overall, I probably would have spent the credit on something else, but it wasn't awful.

Has The Making of a Royal Romance turned you off from other books in this genre?

Probably won't get another on the royals.

Could you see The Making of a Royal Romance being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Nope.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I wouldn't change anything. It is certainly not a work of Literary Masterpiece, but it does the intended job well and covers the subject matter thoroughly.

Would you recommend The Making of a Royal Romance to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys stories about the Royal Family. If you hate the Royal Family or if stories about the royalty bore or annoy you, then I advise you to stay away. This reads like a very LONG article in People Magazine. So whether I'd recommend it or not depends very much on who I am talking to.

What aspect of Justine Eyres performance would you have changed?

This was a decent reading and there was nothing that bothered me about the performance.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No, I don't think so.
